Update on The Red Plum Insert & The Star Ledger

I wanted to update everyone on the status of the Red Plum inserts and the NJ Star Ledger. In case you missed the first post, it appears that the Red Plum inserts, that have been scheduled to run across the country, did not come out in the NJ Star Ledger. This has happened for the last three weeks.

I was in contact today with David Iaquinta from the Star Ledger who confirmed that the Red Plum was not scheduled to run in the Star Ledger the last three weeks. He also informed me that “for the next 4 weeks, red plum is NOT scheduled to run with the Ledger”.

I sent him an email back asking if that was just for the next 4 weeks or if it will continue after that. I have not heard back from him. If this is a temporary situation then I feel we can deal with it for a few weeks but if this continues we all will have to find other, more cost effective way to get our coupons.

Currently, I have not found one paper in the NJ/NY area that is carrying both the Smart Source and the Red Plum. The following papers are carrying Red Plum. Please let me know if I missed any and also if you know for a fact that any of these papers also carry the Smart Source insert weekly.

NY Times **Note: At $5 for a Sunday paper even if it carries the Smart Source it’s too much.

What’s For Dinner?

I missed my menu planning last week and I felt so out of sorts all week. And what happened, I dug into my restaurant money and ate out. So I’m back to planning.

Remember my menu planning is a flexible menu.
Having a list of meals I know I have available to choose from keeps me flexible but focused at the same time.
Everything we are preparing for the week may not necessarily be something that I bought this week. I have had quite a stockpile in my pantry and freezers and I’m stocking back up again.
Here is our flexible dinner menu:

  • Chicken Cacciatore over penne
  • Breaded Tilapia with Rice Pilaf & veggies
  • Roast Chicken on the Grill
  • Homemade pizza
  • Breakfast for dinner
  • My family’s favorite Skillet Ground Turkey over rice
  • Going to a BBQ for the Football Team
