@Marlene, Most of the ShopRites will only use 4 coupons for the same items. Since you bought 5 No Yolks you would only be able to use 4 coupons. So it’s best to only buy 4 items.

Honestly, I think if they scanned it, it would go through, however that seems to be policy for most ShopRites. I thinks it’s just to stop people from clearing out the shelves if it’s a good deal.

However, there is nothing that says you can’t go back and buy more at another time.

You know how most of the sale items are limit to 4 per variety? The same goes for coupons. At least, doubling them that is. In that instance, I would say the cashier made a mistake in not scanning it, unless the register prompted him/her that you had already exceeded the limit amount of coupons?

When you say that you use only 4 coupons per item (above), what do you mean exactly? I ask because once, when SR was having the No Yolks sale, I bought 5 packages and used 5 coupons, but after I got home, and reviewed my receipt, I only received credit for 4 coupons. I haven’t used more than 4 coupons, for 4 of the same items, since. Is this a store policy, or did the cashier make a mistake?

My SR limits people to 20 coupons per family per day, so I end up taking at least two trips a week in order to split up the coupons.

@Maria, I can only imagine. I even see people doing things as a consumer. Since I know all the deals, when I see someone trying to return something that was free or produced a catalina, it drives me crazy. We get such awesome deals just by doing everything by the book that I don’t know why people feel the need to “pull one over” on the store. Honestly, it ruins it for the rest of us. Because stores eventually catch on and then stop certain programs to prevent it. Oh boy, you touched on a sore spot with me

@Cindy, That's a great answer Cindy. I agree, we are not doing anything illegal. The company offers the service of accepting coupons and we follow the guidlines about redeeming them. You are correct, once you go a few times and they see that you are not trying to pull something over on them they tend to relax. I was a cashier once and I can write a book on what people try to do and not just with coupons.

@Claire, I have a similar issue when I log in through cellfire.com. The only way I have been able to add the coupons to my card is if I login to Shoprite.com and then select the cellfire link on their website. I hope that helps.

@Christa, Hi Christa. The only time I go back is if I’m rolling a catalina. Other then that, I go with all my coupons. I get the same thing from store sometimes. They see me coming and nit pick through my coupons too. But, rarely, except for their new found love of the “do not double” button on their new registers, do I have an issue. It just takes a while and I know that. I’ve gotten a couple of grimaces but I look past that. I know how much money I am saving and that is all that matters. The thing is, I stick to the store “rules” such as only 4 coupons per item and I don’t ever take a PDF coupon to shoprite because they have issues with those and so on. So, I know that ever single thing I do with the coupons is on the up and up so it doesn’t rattle me when they go through every coupon. Plus, I’m finding that they do it less and less now. Maybe they know I never give them a problem. So take your stack and don’t worry about it. The people behind you in line are probably too amazed at how much you are saving to complain.

I came back from my Shop Rite this afternoon and I just have to ask you…when you go shopping, do you go more than one time a week and split your coupons so it doesn’t seem like you have so many in one transaction? The reason I ask is that I normally go once a week and I have a stack of coupons. I feel that everytime the cashier and manager see me coming they know that I will have a ton of coupons and it seems like they try to nit pick through to see exactly what they can find not to use. I was just wondering if that happens to anyone else… maybe I should go twice a week and split my order but that would be a waste of time for me. Just curious to know if anyone else has the same experience when they go to their grocery store.

The Shoprite in Lincoln Park is pretty cool too; they always triple coupons $0.50 and under.

@anonymous, Most stores do double the "do not double" coupons which is why I post it that way. There are a select few now that will not double them. According to Shoprite corporate, they are still suppose to be doubled, however certain managers have decided that they were going to make their own rules for these coupons. If your stores are the ones that will not double them then you just have to take that into consideration when making the purchase. For the rest that have stores that do double the "do not double" coupons then you will be able to get them for free.

I think that what Melissa referred to was that the final price on the Betty Crocker brownies and cake mix would not be free as suggested in the listing here since the coupons don’t double. Minor detail. Thanks for doing all this work, though. Good job!

There is also a coupon for $0.50 off 2 Progresso Soups expiring on 2/27 and 3/13. The picture shows high fiber soups, but it states “any flavor Progresso soups.” Use two $0.50 and this makes the Progresso soups $0.75 each wyb 4.

@Melissa, Hi Melissa, I know it states do not double. That is what the DND next to the coupon refers to. Also, there is a blurb out the do not double coupons on the top of each shoprite post. You can also read more detail about the do not double coupons on the beginners tab at the top of the site.
