Just to let you all know in case you were worried. I purchased my TurboTax software through Amazon & as of today have received a confirmation that both my Federal & my State have been received and accepted. So excited because I’m getting a nice refund on both this year. First time in many years. Whoot!

I have used http://www.taxact.com for 2 years now to prepare my family’s return as well as the returns for 5+ family/friends. It is simple, easy, and secure. I’m not sure how comfortable people are in doing their taxes online vs. on their computer but the Federal edition is free (to prepare and efile) and the state (I did NJ) was $14.95 to prepare and efile.

@Carrie, was that for state? I just filed Federal and state. I was accepted for Federal but not for state yet. But that usually takes longer then Federal.

Be careful. We purchased one at Walmart that had both state and federal forms on it for $58 and paid $19.95 to file it online. It came back rejected so we called Turbo Tax. They informed us that some of the programs that are for sale had defects and won’t let you file online. We were told to just print the return out and mail it in. We asked for the $58 refund and was told no. I contacted them the next day online and they gave me a mailing address to return for refund. Still didn’t get to file online and now having to mail in. To much trouble. Won’t use Turbo Tax next year.

I wanted to clarify that the TurboTax Deluxe version includes Federal & State returns and Federal e-file, but NOT state e-file. I was a little confused by the wording here, but I bought the TT Deluxe at Staples last week (with the 15% off coupon) and it only includes Federal e-file. State e-file costs an additional $19.95 per state. However, state e-file is included with TurboTax online. I am pretty sure about this, so be sure to read the product box carefully, so you know what you’re getting and what you are NOT getting.
