Reader Shopping Trip: ShopRite – Zero, Zip, Zilch, Nada!

Here is reader Cheryl’s creative use of store coupons, catalinas, manufacturer coupons & the ShopRite Family Rewards points. The end result was zero out of pocket.   Yep, zero.  And as Cheryl said in her email…..”$ 0.00 , zero, zip, zilch, nada”

Note: That not all stores offer $10 off $40 coupons.  But this just shows you how to be creative with your combination of the coupons you have.  You can take this same concept and use it at any store with any combo of coupons to get the best bang for your buck.  We can’t always walk away with a zero balance but it is sure fun when it happens.  Makes you want to frame your receipt 🙂

Great job Cheryl!

My SR would not take the Kraft and Nestle catalinas together today. What’s up with that? The register wouldn’t take them and it didn’t go when she tried to do it manually by herself.

Hats off to you Cheryl. I’ve tried but I’ve never been able to do that.

    What are Shoprite family points?

    • Julie

I just registered for them! Go to the shop rite site and it will tell you how. You get a point for every dollar you spend, then once you hit 75 you can get rewards for your points. Lowest reward is a redbox rental for 75 points. 100 points gets you $2 off your next grocery order!

    wohoooooooo…. 🙂

Wanted to mention… the last time I tried to do this, it didn’t work out so well! For whatever reason, the register was showing a -0.25 balance so the cashier called the manager over. She seemed annoyed and told the cashier she wasn’t supposed to double my coupons (they did say do not double on 2 of them). I asked for the coupons back and told her I only wanted to purchase the item that I could double – GUM flossers. Not sure what happened, but she told me I owed $1.65. I didn’t try to argue anymore – I didn’t buy them… I just figured I would try another time. I hated the fact that I felt like I was doing something wrong!

Please tell me how I can get the $10 off $40 coupon. That’s a fantastic deal! Great shopping trip!

Free Friendly’s ice cream? I rarely have zero unless I use a gift card to pay the small balance. Every once in a while they owe me money which freaks out the cashier. (Then I either buy something small or a cashier will come over and zero it out) Nice job.

I got a free ice cream coupon too. It came with the $10 off $40 coupon in the mail from ShopRite.

My shoprite will also honor copons from other grocery stores for $10/$60 or $7 off of $40 order (it seems BigY prints this catalina almost every trip, no matter the size of your purchace)…the catch is it is always used after all your MF coupons, so it is quite often a struggle to get to $40 or $60! Great one to have when stocking up on meats!
