My Big Shopping Trip

I am making an announcement.  One that may shock some of you.  No, I’m not going to stop blogging….no worries there.  I love this too much and I love you guys too much.  This announcement involves my grocery budget.

Starting with this week, you will start to see me spending more money on my groceries.  See shocking right?!?!  So, let me explain.

For those of you that are new around here, let me get you up to speed on my grocery budget.  Before I started couponing I used to spend around $250 – $275 a week on groceries.  Now I only spend around $50 a week.  Some weeks I spend more and some weeks I spend less.  But, on average, I spend $50 a week.

Well, my husband and I sat down to discuss our budget.  With gas prices rising we had to make some adjustments to our budget.  While we were talking, my husband was concerned about the possibility of food prices rising.  He had suggested that we increase our stockpile of food as that would become an even bigger savings to us if, in fact, food prices do go up.  I agreed.

So, starting with this weekend, you will start to see some larger shopping trips then I have done in the past 6 months as I try to build my stockpile just a bit more.

And, with that said, here is what I picked up this week.

Saturday ShopRite Trip:

Before I tell you how much I spent on everything above,  let me just tell you that my husband and my son shopped it.  I was very busy on Saturday and wanted to get to ShopRite for some of the deals that were ending.  So, I made up the list, gathered the coupons and entrusted them to the 2 boys in the house.  When I handed my husband the wad of coupons, I got an, “ut oh….really?  You want me to use that many coupons?”  But, in the end, they did a great job.
