For New Jersey Residents: Here are some free and/or inexpensive family activities for this weekend.
- Saturday, 5/14: Arts & Music Festival in Toms River. Bring your family for a day full of music, dance, visual arts and fine arts. 12-9pm. This event is free. Click here to find out more.
- Saturday, 5/14: Spring Family Day at the Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms in Morris Plains. Welcome spring with pony rides, Maypole dancing, a cakewalk, a bubble station, may crowns & more. 12-4pm. $5-$7 for adults and children are free. Click here to find out more.
- Sunday, 5/15: Cinco de Mayo Family Festival at the Camden Children’s Garden. Enjoy crafts, a planting activity, and a colorful cultural celebration. 1-4pm. This event is free with admission. Click here to find out more.

There’s also the Somerville Sampler Day on Saturday from 1-5. Food and wine tastings from all the Main Street restaurants, ranging from FREE to $3. There is also music, events, and raffle prizes throughout the day.

There is a FREE event at the Horse Park of NJ all weekend!
Here’s what my aunt told me about it:
“On May 11-15 there is a major Olympic quality, International horse event at the Horse Park of NJ. Its the Jersey Fresh 3 day event. Its right off I95 and its FREE. The dressage tests are on the 12th and 13th (day one is done over 2 days) and then on saturday the 14th the Cross Country Jumping is held. In this event, they jump huge obstacles that do not fall down. They cover a course of 30-40 jumps at a gallop over a couple of miles in about 10 minutes. One of the neat things is that you can be right next to the jumps-its not viewed from seats in the stands…
On sunday they do the stadium jumping where you sit in the stands as they jump fences that will fall down at the slightest touch. Then the 3 scores are combined to name the winner.”
