Reader Shopping Trips: Walgreens

Sometimes it’s hard for new couponers to understand how rolling catalinas or Register Rewards can help you to pay as little out of pocket as possible.  Well, Melissa does a great job of showing how it’s done.  Here is what she had to say:

I am so excited to be sending in my first coupon shopping trip from Walgreens!  Thank you so much to all the work you do!  I am still learning, and I have saved over $500 in the past few weeks on groceries thanks to all the work and tips and everything you do!  THANKS A MILLION!  I have been able to donate toothpaste/body washes/candy to the Army care packages and saved so much at the triple coupon event at PathMark I got a few goodies for the kitties and cats at the Animal Shelter as well as added to my stockpile!

So I have never really shopped at Walgreen’s nor did I ever realize that I could get such great deals there.  I am a total coupon convert!  I used to buy store brands and -gasp!- shop at Costco before being turned onto coupons.  Your site is amazing and thank you!

So here is my trip: a total of 4 transactions.  I am a newbie so I am more comfortable with smaller transactions…  see attached!  I followed your “Walgreens” post and that’s how I knew about all the deals!

(4) $1/1 Schick Hydro Shave Gel printable
(2) $3.79 from Schick B1G1
(1) $3 RR from transaction #3
Deducted $35.07
Total Paid: $4.33

(Although I realized there was an error with the body wash, it was supposed to be B1G1, but they charged 1 @ 4.49 or 2 @ 4.99 (on the receipt one rang up $4.49 and the other rang up $0.50), so one cost $4.49 and was taken off with the coupon from the 5/1 RP, but the other one still cost me $0.50. I will have to go back to get a price adjustment on that bc the circular clearly states “B1G1 Free” not “B1G1 for 50 cents”.)

Also I recently learned that having more than one computer is great! I was going to recycle my old laptop from college because it is really slow but now I use it to get extra printed coupons!

If you look at the picture, one toilet paper package says ONLY $5.99 and the other says ONLY $6.99.  Very funny!  A sign of the inflation on the new packaging I suppose.
