New SavingStar eCoupons: Click, Shop & Save

There have been a bunch of you that have been hearing the buzz about the new Saving Star program. I have been testing it myself and, I have to say, I’m loving it.

Saving Star just recently launched and is already available at over 100 chains in 24,000 stores nationwide.  There is nothing to clip or print as it’s 100% digital.

Here’s how it works:

  • You sign up with Saving Star and register your store loyalty card(s).
  • You select the eCoupons you like on Saving Star.  They get automatically linked to your store card.
  • When you use your store loyalty card at checkout, the eCoupon amount is added to your Saving Star account.  (You will not see it deducted at the register).  So, you can us all your regular coupons, catalinas or even other eCoupons that you would normally use.  You will see your Saving Star account credited with the amount in approx 7-30 days depending upon where you shop.
  • Once your SavingStar account reaches $5 in savings, you can pick your payout from a bank account deposit, a PayPal account deposit, an Amazon gift card or a donation to charity.

So, this is really like an rebate. And an easy rebate.  You just Click, Shop & Save!

Make sure to check out all of the current SavingStar eCoupons

I have tried Savings Star back on 5-7-2011 and have not yet seen any savings applied to my account. I have been checking periodically and nothing. I am not totally convinced yet but haven’t given up hope.

  • Would love to hear input from others who are using this….

  • I signed up the beginning of June and only had one saving applied to my account, when I know for a fact, I have purchased several of these products. It does state it could take up to 30 days to be credited to your account. I will keep checking.

  • Cindy,
Are you planning on including the savingstar deals in the coupon matchups as well?

    • Yes I will. I already started a little bit but will be adding them to the ShopRite, A&P, CVS, Pathmark, Rite Aid & Stop & Shop ads that I do.

  • I am confused about this site. I registered two different cards. Do the eCoupons go to each card and which ever card I use with the product will use the coupon?

    • Hi Rachel – Josh from SavingStar here. The eCoupons get linked to all your cards so can decide where to shop. But, nearly all the coupons are one time use, so the savings are only applied to your first purchase. Thanks, Josh

  • I signed up for this program awhile ago and have already earned and used it for the amazon card. It’s does take some time to post put it does work.

    • I signed up some weeks ago and I purchased one item but have not received my savings yet. I would love a paypal giftcard to buy coupons.
Cindy, thanks for including these in your match-ups.

  • I have been using it since May and it worked some but I still wait for some.
I am assuming I have to find the receipt for that item. I hope I can find it!

  • Savingstar also powers UPromise grocery coupons. I really like it using it with UPromise because it doesn’t interfere with my other coupons but getting the rewards aren’t instant and since there aren’t so very many offers, getting up to $5 can take patience. At least with UPromise I can pool my other savings rebates in order to get a payout. Another benefit of using savingstar with Upromise is that savings I get in UPromise will have an additional 10% match at the end of the year. The offers are somewhat different in UPromise vs. the ones on the savingstar.com site. It’s super that they are offering this standalone for those who aren’t interested in UPromise and are able to give different deals – I’m looking forward to watching it grow the partners they have.

  • Cindy, is there a way to enter more than one card per store? Our household has two adults, therefore we have two cards per store.

  • Thx for explaining…I had started to sign-up before. I stopped though because I thought I had to pay $5 to get the coupons. It was a bit confusing. I finished signing-up this morning and hopefully will see some rewards soon!

  • I signed up last month. I can tell you the Shoprite ones take FOREVER. Rite Aid cleared the same week. I already earned pts for one card and got the Amazon card in 2 days!!!

  • I’m wondering since I’m signed up for both Savings Star and UPromise if the coupons overlap will I get savings for both?

The UPromise site is painfully slow to load the savings star coupons. Maybe they could fix this.

    • Hi Kristin – You may select coupons in both Upromise and SavingStar, but not the same coupon. Each coupon can only be selected and used in 1 service. The savings post in Upromise and SavingStar on the same schedule, within 7-30 days. Each store sends us data on a different schedule which is why some stores post faster than others. Thanks, Josh

      • Hi Josh,

Thanks for the response. I think it will be difficult to remember which coupons I’ve selected in Savings Star vs. UPromise. I will probably select all the coupons I’m offered in both. The company will have to figure out how to handle overlapping coupons in both Savings Star and UPromise or this could be a problem in the future.

It will be interesting to see how this works out and if it’s successful.

        • Hi Kristin – We expect that in the coming months, the offers on Upromise and SavingStar will be the same, but right now there are a few different ones. For the ones that are the same, once you select a coupon on one service, it disappears from the other service so that you can’t select it. Also, you can always check your activation and redemption history on both services. Thanks for your feedback! -Josh

  • I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this!!!!!! Thank you for sharing!!!!

  • This is so cool;I just signed up ;so Im looking forward to see how it will work for me!!

  • Any idea how long it takes for your savings to appear if you purchased a qualifying item at Stop and Shop? I purchased the item on 6/6 and it has not appeared yet.

  • Still waiting for my amazon gift card…

    • Hi Brenda, Please check your spam box to make sure that the email did not go there by accident. If you’ve requested your Amazon card more than 1 day ago and still haven’t received a code, please email us at support@savingstar.com so we can look into it. Thanks, Josh

  • I just went and signed up. It keeps telling me my Shoprite card number is invalid though? Annoying since that is my main store!

  • Hi, is the discount taken off all qualifying items in your cart…for ex. If I bought 2 bottles of vive loreal will the coupon be deducted from both bottles? Thanks.

    • Hi Lisa, When you use a SavingStar eCoupon, the savings are not deducted at the register. Instead, the savings are added to your SavingStar account within 2-30 days depending on the store you shop. Our eCoupons are currently limited to 1 purchase (so only 1 L’Oreal Vive). Thanks, Josh

  • I’ve been using savingstar for a while and the turnover time for my savings to show up hasn’t been disappointing, but I chose an amazon gift card pay out 8 days ago and haven’t seen anything yet. Should I just keep waiting?

  • I am very new to couponing and this is dedinatly the first I’ve heard of savingstar. Do you pay anything to sing up? Is there a list of stores so I can see if any of my stores are included? Most of the stores where I live do not doulbe coupons or let you do ecoupons and manufacture coupons at the same time. Would love a little help. thanks

    • Hi Stephanie, Join SavingStar for free and register your grocery and drugstore loyalty cards on SavingStar. Type in your zip code to see stores near you or click on the participating stores link in the footer. Then, click the eCoupons you want and we’ll link them to all of your registered store cards. When you use your card at checkout like you normally do, your savings are automatically added to your SavingStar account within 2-30 days depending on when the store sends us the purchase data. (Note: the savings are not given at checkout in the store and they are not printed on your receipt). Once your accumulated savings in your SavingStar account reach $5, you can pick your payout from a deposit into your bank or PayPal account, an Amazon gift card, or a donation to American Forests. It’s that easy!

  • I have been signed up for a few months and always get credit. BUT… I have yet to choose my payout because I don’t know what PayPal is!! I have heard of it, but don’t know what it is or how it works. Would I get a check from PayPal? I don’t shop on Amazon, or on the internet for that matter, and don’t want to give my bank info.

    • Hi Linda, Paypal is an electronic way to manage cash payments online. If you have money in your Paypal account, you can use it to pay for items you buy online or have it deposited into your bank account (PayPal can link to your bank account). In terms of putting your bank account info into SavingStar for a direct payment, please note that we encrypt the information and then delete it right after we deposit your money to make your information is safe. -Josh from SavingStar

  • Big y comes up as one of the accepted stores in my area. I have entered 2 big y cards ad both come up invalid…. is there a different card I need to request to work with savingstar?

  • My weis club card # is coming up as invalid. I triple checked that I put the correct # in. What should I do? Thank you.

    • Kelsey, Please make sure you are entering all the digits including any off to the far right or left. If that doesn’t work, please email us the card number by clicking the Contact Us link on our website and we’ll register it for you. Thanks, Josh from SavingStar
