Cindy,

Recently I found a coupon in a box of Ziploc Sandwich bags for 55 cents off one Ziploc Slider Bags expiring 6/30/11. My Shoprite doesn’t double over a 1.00 but it is still a good coupon for me. If anyone else has it and their store fully doubles that would make it .89 cents a box!

The Palmolive Dish Detergent coupon gives me “that campaign is over”. Is everybody else getting that?

Reply

Yep it’s over. Sorry about that. I wish they would take them down instead of making you go through all that to find out it’s gone.

A couple weeks ago at Pathmark, there was a lady giving out sheets of Colgate-Palmolive coupons. One of them included was a $.75/1 Palmolive Dish Detergent. :)

My ShopRite (in Glen Burnie, MD) has the Nesquik powder pouches for only 99¢ regular price so free after doubled coupon.

They also have Colgate 4 oz. toothpaste (the ones that say 33% more free) for 99¢ as well, so also free after coupon.

Might be worth looking into at other locations as well =)

Liz June 5, 2011 at 10:55 pm

And, I will bring the tokens!! (Leftovers from parties with the kids) See, in true couponer fashion, it will cost practically nothing! LOL Seriously, though, wouldn’t it be kinda neat to have like a couponers ‘club’ that meets once or twice a month??? I attended a Stay-at-Home-Moms group that meets twice a month, but no one really uses coupons in that group, and it wasn’t really my crowd. Would be cool to have a group to swap sale sightings and tips….just sayin!

I don’t have that one either! I’d LOVE a couponers club/exchange. All my current friends think I’m CRAZY! Hahaha!

Reply

Liz P. June 6, 2011 at 7:24 pm

My friends and my husband think I’m nutty! I’ve been couponing for about 5 years now, and now its the ‘in’ thing to do bc of the show, but 3 or 4 yrs ago, my husband thought I was crazy! My friends think it takes too much time, but wouldn’t mind paying me to do it for them!

Reply

Lady J June 7, 2011 at 8:42 am

My friends think it’s cool what I do. Then they ask me how to do it and I point them in the right direction. If I see a fantastic deal, I’ll even email it to them. You’d think they’d join the couponing club, but no. Next time I see them I get “oh yeah, I really should do one of these deals you send me” and “i have to remember to check out the matchups before I go shopping”. I can’t imagine going shopping without checking the matchups first.

Anyone having trouble printing from coupons.com with a Mac? For some reason it doesn’t recognize Ive downloaded the coupon printer. Any ideas??

Reply

Gina June 5, 2011 at 9:40 am

Have you tried using FireFox instead of Safari? Also is your Mac software fully updated? I have had some issues a while ago. After updating to Leopard coupons did not print. If I remember correctly I had to reinstall the coupon printer after that. The other system would only work with FireFox. Good luck. (hth)

Reply

Kara June 5, 2011 at 9:13 pm

I use Safari on all 4 of my Mac laptops and have no problem. My husband’s computer on the other hand will not let me print coupons from any site :(

Also, make sure you do all your updates.

Good luck

i can’t remember where i got it from, but i have coupons for 75 cents off one package of perdue boneless chicken breasts…so that would double, right? they are on sale for 2.99 a pound…so would that be 1.50 off one package? i’m new to this! they expire tomorrow, so i’ve gotta use them quick!

Reply

Cindy June 4, 2011 at 11:12 pm

Yep. The trick is to get the smallest package possible. If you can get 1 lb packs, then it’s only $1.50 per lb. If you used it on a 3 lb pack at $2.99 per lb then it would be $7.47 for the pack or $2.49 per lb. Then you would be better off getting the packs that are on sale for $1.99 per lb this week.

Reply

Eileen @QponPrincess June 6, 2011 at 3:10 am

I used up my remaining perdue coupons last wednesday on the fit and trim packs, I scoured through them and found 3 packs priced $2.50 and under the cheapest was $2.04

with the perdue coupons because it is off of the pack and not per pound, just look at the total cost of the package and find the cheapest ones you can!

Reply

Jasper June 5, 2011 at 10:20 pm

I’ve been hanging onto that coupon for so long. Finally got a chance to use it today, the day it expires. Bought a pack of chicken that was $3.29, so after the doubled coupon it was $1.79 for a 1.1 lb, i.e. $1.63/lb… not bad for boneless chicken breast.

Christine June 4, 2011 at 10:58 pm

I just checked my Driscolls coupon…it says “Do Not Double.” Just an FYI. Also….when you do a deal for, say the Solo Cat….can you do this more than 1 time. I did it last week, and for some reason, it did not print out for me this week when I bought the 4 items. Thanks to ALL!!

Reply

staceypunk June 5, 2011 at 12:02 am

It starts with a 5 and I’ve used them and it doubles automatically at the register.

My Solo catalina did not print. I purchased 4 of the Heavy Duty plates (44 count) at $1.99 each. I used 4 of the $0.75 coupons and paid $4.

I talked with customer service and told them about the catalina deal. They looked through their catalina reference book but nothing showed up regarding any solo products. However, they were really nice and gave me another $4 off coupon good toward my next order.

Personally, i feel hesitant to do a catalina deal unless it’s printed in the ad or if i have a print out from a previous purchase to prove what catalina you should receive.

Reply

Anne June 5, 2011 at 7:23 pm

Just for future reference, any time a Catalina doesn’t print I just email Catalina directly. I am happily surprised that your store gave you a $4 Q! Usually the stores are unaware of the Catalina deals, and can get downright rude with the customers over them. Catalina does an amazing job of verifying the items you purchased and sending you the coupon in the mail.

Reply

Anonymous June 5, 2011 at 7:44 pm

I emailed catalina and will post their response. Do you need to send them a copy of your receipt?

Reply

Anonymous June 5, 2011 at 8:25 pm

I emailed catalina and i will post their response, thanks!

Reply

Anonymous June 8, 2011 at 12:27 pm

I received and email back from Catalina and this is their response:

Thank you for contacting the Catalina Marketing Helpdesk,

Thank you for providing your information. We found two different transactions; one based on Shoppers card# & other based on transaction#. After reviewing both your transactions, we found that you did not spend on the items with qualifying UPCs. We apologize but will not be able to issue a coupon for this promotion. Kindly contact store for further assistance.

I don’t understand what i did not purchase considering i bought 4 solo heavy duty plates (44 count). I’m going to call them and see what i actually needed to purchase.

Reply

Anonymous June 8, 2011 at 1:16 pm

So after talking with Catalina on the phone they said that they could only see that I bought 1 of the product, however I actually bought 4. Even though I sent a scanned copy of my receipt and included all the information they requested, while I was on the phone I had to repeat all that information again (somewhat annoying but the rep was really nice). The representative said that they can’t look at attachments you email them (such as copies of your receipt), which i found odd considering they said you can send attachments. I also found it odd that the receipt and transaction code was saying i only bought 1 solo product. Something must have been off in their sytsem.

I ended up faxing them a copy of my receipt in order to prove I bought 4 solo products. The rep said I did qualify for the transaction and the $4 coupon will be sent in a few weeks.

So as it turned out, I got an additional $4 off since I got one $4 from my store and one $4 from catalina… not too bad!!

Reply

Ueen June 8, 2011 at 1:41 pm

Anonymous,

The Solo $4 CAT that printed after I purchased 4 solo plates (sorry forgot the count) states:

Congratulations! Now, Save More.
Buy Any Solo Cups, Plates or Bowls (Excludes Solo Cutlery, Straw and For season Items) Between 5/20 & 6/12.

Buy (2) and get $1.00
Buy (3) and get $3.00
Buy (4) or More and get $4.00
Coupon off your next order.

The reason I am posting this is because UPC’s for the Plate, Cups and Bowls were not specified so I believe unfair that you are being told that you did not buy the product with the qualifying UPC.

If it’s me, I would call catalina and explain this situation.

If you do not feel like calling catalina but you would rather go back to the store, I would suggest taking the CAT print out (if you have friends that can lend you one) to show them that it just says Solo and no UPC’s mentioned. If you do not have someone who has the CAT available, let me know your email address and I will email a copy to you.

Ueen

Ueen,

Thanks for the offer….. After talking with Catalina and sending them my receipt, they agreed i did purchase the correct items and they are sending me the $4 coupon.

Thanks for your help. I now know to save my receipts for situations like this in the future.

Jen W June 5, 2011 at 8:13 pm

Doing a catalina deal or not is your personal choice. Contacting Catalina when you have purchased the products required and receiving your coupon via mail is very simple…I have yet to have a problem with a Catalina deal where Catalina has denied me the coupon. In fact, Kristen at CS in Hamilton Marketplace knows her stuff, does coupons herself and KNOWS it’s off shelf price! She is truly a blessing!

Reply

Dawn K June 6, 2011 at 1:25 pm

I did the Solo deal four times and it printed all four times. Twice on paper and twice on plastic goods. HTH!

Reply

Michele June 6, 2011 at 2:23 pm

RE: Catalina’s
I think stopping at CS isn’t a mistake. My store keeps a book with barcodes for each deal active. They are well education on what program is running. That doesn’t mean they know the tricks we do on pricing. Just be super sweet or play dumb. If they say they can’t do anything about it then you know for future reference and just email catalina. Send your store card number and the store information (register/date). Scan the receipt and have it ready in case they ask. If it’s buy # of items I attach it. If it’s $ amt I wait for them to ask for a receipt copy.

Reply

D June 8, 2011 at 5:25 pm

I agree…I am usually using my cats on the next transaction, so it is very helpful when they can print them. Some managers/CS reps are more helpful than others. I learned from one of them the book is called the FailSafe (?) book. Once a CS rep acted like I had 10 heads when I told them there’s a book behind there somewhere with the barcodes, until I said, “Ya know, the Failsafe book?” and they realized I wasn’t going away…lol! They now know me…and are super helpful! I’ve even showed them this site and they’ve used it to verify deals! LOL!! :)

Thanks for the Match-ups!

My Ban coupon is $1/2 :( I am in CT and usually get these $1 coupons for 2 instead of the others that would make a better deal doubling. Also my SR does not double if it says DO NOT DOUBLE in the coupon (I think I read that you had somewhere that CT stores double… not mine)

Thanks for your awesome site. It’s a blessing to be a mom of a 4 month old baby and not to have to go through all the circulars and store to get great deals!

Try going onto a clipping site or ebay. i just bought (20) .75/1 Q’s off ebay for .99 + free shipping and they will arrive to be by Friday. I’ve done this several times in the past on Q’s with good deals and it has always been a great deal. Especially for stocking up on free items like the Ban. You’re only paying .99 (cost of Q’s) for up to 20 deodorants.

I’m new to this couponing and also have a question about the ban coupons above. Is she saying you can use both the $0.40/1 Ban Product, exp. 7/31/11 (SS 06/05/11) and $0.75/1 Ban Solid, exp. 7/31/11 (SS 06/05/11) or just one or the other to try and get it for the free price?

Reply

Kristi June 6, 2011 at 1:34 pm

@Corinne- she is saying one or the other- you can’t use (2) manufacturers coupons on the same product. However, you can use a “Shoprite” (or store coupon) with a manufacturers coupon, that is called “stacking” – Thanks to Cindy, I know that answer!! So Cindy posts the best case scenario for the matchup and provided you have that specific coup you can get that matchup- otherwise you have to use a coupon valued at a lesser amount and while you still get a deal, its not as good. Hope that helps!

Reply

MK June 8, 2011 at 8:47 pm

My shoprite in Wallingford, CT does not double $1 coupons and definitely not ones that state “Do Not Double.” Its a really nice shoprite though, especially since they moved into the Shaws so its bigger. For CT it does not seem that we get the good coupons for certain items. It usually a $1/2 or for the hellman’s mayo is $1/3 which I don’t like. But my Shoprite is good although they are usually out of whatever is a good sale that has coupons for it… must be a lot of couponers in the Meriden/Wallingford/North Haven area for Shoprite :)

Hey Cindy..all my Butterball coupons for the turkey bacon from SS 5/22 specifically state DND on them making them $0.85 not $0.20 after the coupon. BOO! Not sure if yours are the same or not.

Reply

Anita June 5, 2011 at 8:40 am

Michelle, my coupons state DND too, but the barcode starts with a 5. So if the cashier does not explicitly press the DND button, they will automatically double.

Turns out my Pet Sitter is also the paper delivery person and hooked us up with 3/4 of each SS, RP and P&G. I had no idea there was a huge difference in the inserts from one paper to another, wow! We got the $.75/1 ban in one and $1/1 rayovak in the other. Rayovak is on sale 1/2 off ($1.49) so $.49 batteries, woohoo!

I also had a cat for $2.50 off Cottonelle on sale for $5.99, and VocalPoint sent me $1/1 and BOGO coupons for the Mini Wheats that are on sale. Plus I have a plethora of $2/1 Venus coupons from the PG books that come in the big Pampers boxes. It’s going to be a good week!

Just got back from SR .. almost all of the Luigis Ices were gone already, I managed to get two boxes :) I saw that the Bic Soliel 4 pack of razors was $3.99 .. if anyone has the $3/1 Q from one of the 5/1 inserts, they would only be $0.99.

For the Dannon deal, do we have to hand the coupons over in a specific order? If so, which do we hand over first, the B4Get $3.75 off milk or the $1 off coupons? I’m a little confused because the coupon in the ad says manufacturer coupon.

Reply

Diana June 5, 2011 at 7:04 pm

I wasn’t sure if this would work either – I handed over everything together…he scanned the $1/1 coupons first, and then the milk deal one beeped. He called over the front end mgr and he did an override and it worked (the whole $3.75 came off even though the milk was only $3.59). :) Good luck!

I dunno if it matters, but I got the Dannon yogurt packs last night at Stop n Shop and they were 2 for $4. Used 2 $1.oo coupons, and they were $1.00 each. I thought that was the better deal. But, I also didn’t need 3 packs, I know the SR deal says buy 3 packs. Maybe this helps?

Reply

anonymous June 6, 2011 at 2:29 pm

I gave the (4) $1 coupons first and then the $3.75 coupon but it beeped. From past experience I know that specific cashier and override person are notoriously not coupon friendly. I ran out of milk and I was pressed for time so I had to go on the express line. I explained to them that I bought 5 items and used 5 coupons but they still said that I couldn’t do it. The nice lady in back of me tried to explain that I was right too but they NEVER budge! They refused to override it so I didn’t buy the yogurt. I’ll try it again at another, friendlier ShopRite and try using the $3.75 coupon first. It’s so sad that I frequently have to drive to a farther store to use my coupons!

I had several coupons beep, not sure why and my cats never go thru… but it’s something they are aware of . The last cashier said any high value coupon, even one of their own cats requires approval. No “official problems or complaints” just had to wait for the mgr to approve. The funny thing was, he admitted he was a little worried because he saw my q binder. He thought I was trying one of those deals like on the show – we all laughed so hard :)

Anyone successful with the deal ? Will it work if you give the $3.75q before the $1q?

where are you all getting this milk coupon? isn’t it supposed to print out after you buy the four danon?

Reply

Jody June 8, 2011 at 1:57 pm

The coupon is in the ShopRite circular. On the side of the dairy page. Some people are having issues using the free milk coupon when using Dannon coupons. I was able to use both today-the cashier had to manually process the free milk coupon, but she was very nice.

There is a catalina for Duracell batteries running from 5/27-6/10. It will make for a double-dip with the cat for buying club savings items. The Duracell 16 count coppertop are featured for 9.19. Buy 2 get $5.00 back. The Duracell cat is spend
$10-14.99 get $2
$15-19.99 get 3$
$20 or more get $4
The coupon network coupon listed is no longer available, but the P&G ones are. To get both cats you would have to buy 2 big packs, plus a small pack (price?) to get you over the $20 limit. You should receive a $5cat and a $4 cat.

Lori G June 5, 2011 at 12:50 pm

I realize that the coupon listed in the match-ups section isn’t really a coupon. It is the coupon network’s listing of the cat…still a double dip, but the $4 off $10 coupon listed wasn’t a coupon, rather a cat…

Im hoping someone can answer my question- when you see a printable coupon listed and you go the to site but it says you have already printed out the allotted number of times- do the manufacturers reset these? I wonder how people can continue to get deals on certain items- for instance- in the past I printed out Coffeemate coupons (months ago) when I tried yesterday it said I printed the max times. Any insight would be helpful! Thanks so much!

Reply

Sara June 6, 2011 at 5:51 pm

Yes, mfr resets. Also some of us have access to more than one computer, each computer can print. So I have 2 computers at home and one at work so I can get 3 of each coupons (or 6 usually since they tend to print 2 of each).

I had so many .75 coupons that normally would fully double there! I had a whole bunch of .50 and NONE of then doubled. I dont know if it was a fluke or what?! Im going to call there in a little, but right now I’m so mad :( Only a few of the coupons said Do Not Double (5′s). But I stocked up on mustard (with the guldens and frenchs printables) I wouldnt have done this if they werent going to double !! UGH. Can someone please let me know if they have had this problem today, or even in the past? Any ideas ?! Thanks :) !!!

Just bring your receipt in with you the next time you go shopping. If they are a store that fully doubles, there should be no problem in getting your money back.

Reply

Angela E June 6, 2011 at 3:43 pm

I’ve had this problem before and they told me they couldn’t double the coupons after the transaction was closed since they didn’t have the coupons in front of them. They said that they don’t know which one’s might have said “do not double” if there even were any.

just last week, I had a few not double and they manually doubled them! Usually I hand over my coupons at the beginning of transaction but now I’m thinking thatI should wait until all my items are bagged so that I can watch. They said something about the barcodes. a lot of coupons have 2 different barcodes on them.

This happened to me at Acme, but since I was in a hurry the cashier told me to go to CS whenever I could. Next day, cs told me that the couldn’t help me due to the cashier closing out and he could not view my q’s. Had I done it that same time or day (if cashier was still there, they could have checked my q’s) if you can, go back or atleast call them and speak to a mgr. otherwise you might be out of luck.

Reply

Liz P. June 6, 2011 at 7:32 pm

Thats exactly what I do! I go to a line where there is someone bagging, so I can concentrate at the end when coupons are scanned. I don’t hand my coupons over all at once either. This way, the cashier has no choice but to scan them slowly, so I can follow and make sure everything that is supposed to double does. Otherwise, they just scan the coupons quickly and they don’t pay attention if they double or not. Makes things go smoother this way.

Reply

Beth G. June 7, 2011 at 9:03 pm

That happened to me once and I did not notice because my son was having a meltdown. I wrote a letter to shoprite cooperate and complained. I stated in the letter that I used X number of coupons, that I did not receive $X in doubling and they should send me a gift card for the amount I should not have spent. They did.

Cindy – and everybody else – I need help please.

Another frustrating experience today at SR – Jersey City.
My entire purchase – 2 x .99 Chicken of the sea chunk light tuna
1 x .99 French’s mustard.

Q used (or rather ATTEMPTED to) – 2 x .50 chicken of the sea product
1 x .50 French’s mustard.

Expect to pay nothing. After having inspected each one of my 3 Q for about 6 mins total – I get an announcement that my balance is 49 cents. I am seeing on the screen that 1 of the 2 of my tuna Q did not double. I ask the cashier why and the response is ‘you can only get one like-item for free’. Maybe I should have just leave and use it another time – but lately I’ve had so much headache with that store – I asked to see the policy. They made a big show out of this. Someone was called over – I asked her whether she was a manager – and she said no, but she could provide me with the policy. I was presented with a printed page where there was something mentioned to the effect of only ‘one item per brand could be allowed for free with coupon use’ . There was also a mention of price being $1.98 or something – but I was too upset by the time to really read it carefully. So I left and came back 5 mins later getting in another line – but not very far from my original one – I did not believe I had to play hide-and-seek. As I was gradually approaching – I noticed the commotion and whispers between the cashiers to the effect that a “Becky” should be called over. So – I’ve been spotted, Becky showed up and told me I could not go from line to line. So I just left at that point. How embarrassing is this!! I had a 3 item in my order and was made feel like they are about to make a citizen arrest!

Could somebody give me some suggestion as to whether I should convey this experience to the corporate? Or did they act within the limits?

Any feedback is appreciated!

April June 6, 2011 at 2:42 pm

I walk out with free items all the time. They never make a bigger deal of it than when your total comes to $0 though. It’s for that reason that I always try to have my total come to over $1, and I always go to bored looking teenaged boys who look like they hate their jobs, because they don’t look at the coupons unless they beep. Just my $0.02.

Janelle S June 6, 2011 at 2:48 pm

Personally I think you should contact corporate…..I used the Santa Cruz $0.75 off/1 coupon and I used 4 in one order and got them for free…..I did this multiple times and they never said anything about it and my balance was $0.00…..I think they were just upset by the fact that your total was going to be zero….Try going to a different cashier next time…HTH

I spoke with Shoprite corporate, nothing has been changed. They don’t have any competitors in the area, they don’t care about complaints.

At the SR in Passaic, there is a taped note in at least one cashier line – something to the effect of you can only get 1 item for free. If you have other “like” coupons for the item you got for free, then they will scan at price value and will not double. So, I guess there are some SR out there that will only let you get 1 item for free.

ANNA June 7, 2011 at 11:28 am

I went to that store two times and I said never again! Both times I had problems with coupons. At one time three people had to come and check the coupons. I was told my coupons were copies, etc. and I was treated like a thief. That store is not worth the embarassment that I had to go through.

IK,
I shop at SR in Jersey City too and it’s gotten pretty bad lately.
The supervisor or whomever she is (short lady with braids) always gives me a hard time, but I always just insist on speaking with the store manager. He comes down pretty quickly and so far has always approved my coupons.
I haven’t experienced this new thing with “only one free item”, but was planning on going tomorrow to stock up on Ronzoni Quick Cook pasta which would be free after coupon. Sigh – now I’m dreading going…. I’ll let you know what happens…

I’d love to hear how this turns out! I shop at this SR too but I go in the evenings after work when they are strict but not as strict as the day time. I’ve once experienced the same cashier as you have (at least it sounds like her cuz she said those same words to me) and I vowed to never shop there during the week in the AM if I have the day off. I don’t care how quiet and calm it is in the morning, the cashiers are just unfriendly. In the late afternoon/early evening, they have younger cashiers and lots of males so I try to go to them to avoid any coupon hassle. :)

Hi IK & Crystal,

Just wanted to let you know that I’ve gone to SR in JC twice since last week, and have not had any problems with “only one free product”. Did 2 small transactions each time and walked out with a total of 8 “free” ronzoni quick cook, 4 “free” colgate toothpaste, 4 “free” solo holiday, and 2 “free” mustards of some sorts. I did purposefully pick a young male as my cashier :) He’s always friendly and doesn’t scrutinize every coupon for 5 minutes. I’m curious to see if I’ll run into the new “only one free item” policy continues, or whether the cashiers were just making it up as they went along.

IK June 13, 2011 at 3:56 pm

Did anyone get a YourBucks offer from ShopRite? I’ve had one in my inbox for the last two weeks for $5 off ONYO when you buy $15 worth of participating P&G products between 6/5-6/18. But the email says to reference the circular for products and my weekly ad didn’t say anything about it. I got an update for the sale in my email today and it referenced this page: ShopRite.com/sixwaystosave But this page has a different deal (buy $25 worth of P&G and get $5 off ONYO) and different dates. I’m wondering if it’s worth going to the store and attempting this when I don’t have any “proof” that it’s legit.

I think that promotion was last week. If you purchased $15 worth of certain suave hair products, body wash, deodrants and some other items you would get a $5 coupon at checkout. I took up on that offer since I had coupons for the items on sale. It also was a $10 coupon if you bought $25 worth of certain other products. That promotion ended on Saturday so I don’t think they are running that anymore….sorry

The Santa Cruz is no longer on sale… but if you were able to get the .75 coupon before it was no longer available and your store doubles some will still work out to be free even if they are not on sale. I.E. At my store they are 1.39 so if they double your coupon it will work out to be free for you.

protein plus bars were still on sale at the SR in Lawrenceville, NJ. I forget the exact price since I bought these and also Zone bars. I think they were either $1.19 or $1.25.

Reply

Donna June 7, 2011 at 1:04 pm

Ours is still on sale for $1.19. I had 10 coupons. I used five and five at different times, since they were out of stock last week and I could only pick up 5 last week. Got all ten for free. My Shoprite has never given me any trouble with doubling. I’m in Ocean County.

Yesterday at my shoprite I found powdered Nesquik (7 serving pouch) for .99, making this free with the .50 coupon in this sunday paper. Also there was a La Yogurt $1.00 off 12 singles coupon which made them .16 per yogurt!

Reply

Anonymous June 6, 2011 at 4:51 pm

For some reason I did not get the nesquik coupon. This must be a regional thing. IN NNJ.

Reply

April June 6, 2011 at 9:59 pm

Oddly I don’t think it’s all regional, it also depends on what newspaper you buy. A friend of mine delivers all of the different papers in our town (it’s a VERY VERY small town in Monmouth County, NJ) and found out recently that we use a lot of coupons, so for the first time she dropped me off the leftover inserts from Sunday. The SS with RevitaLens on the front had $1/1 Rayovak coupons in it but much less than the SS with the EyeDr $99 ad on the front, which didn’t have the Rayovak but had the $.75/1 Ban coupon in it. The RP that had JCPOptical on the front had the Nesquick in it amongst others, and the RP with the Nature’s Bounty on the front, well it had All and Snuggle and pretty much nothing else in it except ads for Family Dollar. I was floored at the difference between what one paper gives out versus the other. I’ll have to ask her which came from which so I can change my delivery subscription accordingly.

There are definite regional differences too, my grandmother mails me her leftovers and NC gets much higher face values than we do in NJ. I just thought it was really interesting (and sometimes disappointing) how different the inserts can be.

Reply

danae June 9, 2011 at 10:35 pm

You can look on the “spine” of the inserts to see what newspaper it comes from. The issue date is also printed there. Get out your glasses though- its tiny!

Reply

leah June 9, 2011 at 11:13 pm

Does anyone know how to figure out what volume number of the insert it is? I don’t see that on the spine. For instance, sometimes the match-ups will say, “SS 01/01/11 #2″

Does anyone know if the Luna bars are still $1?

Reply

Dave June 6, 2011 at 6:53 pm

The Heluva coupon says no doubling. Can I assume that the cheese will indeed only be reduced to $1.50 and not $0.99, or will SR actually double it?

Also, what are the RP coupons that are referenced? SS is SuperShopper?

Thanks,
Dave

Reply

Anne June 6, 2011 at 7:30 pm

RP = Red Plum
SS = Smart source

Both are inserts in the Sunday paper.

If the coupon bar code starts with a 5, it will double when scanned. However, if the cashier catches that it says Do not Double, they will override the doubling.

I know this has been posted before, but does anyone know the e-mail address to contact when a catalina does not print? I was at ShopRite this afternoon & bought 2 packs of Solo cups & 2 packs of plates. I should have gotten a $4 catalina, correct? I also purchased 8 trays of Wiskas cat food & there were shelf tags that claimed get $1 off future order when you buy 7. Neither cat printed. I asked the cashier & she said “sometimes they do & sometimes they don’t”. I spoke with the manager & they told me to contact Catalina, however, they did not give me any contact info. Needless to say, I’m a little frustrated. I’ve never had a problem with my ShopRite until now. They were not helpful at all this time around.

Reply

Leah June 6, 2011 at 9:16 pm

That stinks!! I had a disappointing shoprite experience today too :( ughhh ! This is just a guess, but maybe the catalina machine wasnt working. That happened to me once at walgreens. The machine was out of paper, and they had to refill it….Your cashier obviously didn’t care because that is the silliest response I have ever heard..?! Sometimes they do, sometimes they dont ??? Nooo, if its an advertised catalina they “should” print, unless something went wrong. Anywho, Cindy has the catalina information on here somewhere, you can probably just type ‘catalina’ in her search box.

Reply

Kierstin June 6, 2011 at 10:39 pm

Crazy right? I think her response is what frustrated me the most! I noticed the lady in front of me in line did not get any catalinas either & she even commented, “Wow, no coupons?” Cashier told her, “Nope, guess not today.” Just frustrating b/c I know I was supposed to get them.

I was just reading their coupon policy last night.

(i think ) it says they will accept catalina coupons with another stores icon on it, if it says x$ off some product.

Is genuardi’s the only one that will do this? or are there more

The Bic Razors are on sale for $3.99. If you combine that with the $3.00 off coupon in the recent insert that expires 7/17 11, it’s $1.00 or $0.25 a razor.

Reply

One of the packs of razors on sale is a single razor with 6 more razor “heads” so you get a total of 7 razors for $0.99! :)

I know a few weeks back someone posted a link or was it a list, of all Nestle brands. Can someone post that link or list again? I had a nightmare of a time at ShopRite of Greenwich yesterday, had Hot Pockets and the cashier refused to take my $5 Nestle catalina. He said I don’t have any products marked Nestle, I said the Hot Pockets are Nestle, he looked at the box and said they don’t say Nestle, etc, etc then fast forward to the service desk lady. She was nice as always but uninformed. She called over the floor manager who spoke to me like I was a child or as if I was deaf and said ‘You have to buy NESTLE products’. I told her there are 100′s of products under the Nestle brand and I just got a vacant look. If I can get the Nestle list (I remember it includes GM brand cereals and Purina, Tidy Catys too), I will go in armed for battle.

thanks.

Reply

Anne June 7, 2011 at 10:15 am

Just google “Nestle brands” and it will bring up the list in the first link. I have never had a problem using my Nestle cats on Hot Pockets, they definitely should have let you use it!!

Reply

Jodi June 7, 2011 at 10:40 am

If you look on the back of the product box it often lists the parent company. I just checked a box of Lean Pockets and on the back by the UPC it says something like Lean Pockets is a trademark of Nestle Switzerland. I would just google Nestle brands and products and see what you come up with, but show them the small print on the box. I am usually buying a week worth of groceries for my family of 7 so they don’t typically question my cats that are brand specific. I have too many items for them to check and the register would beep if there was a problem anyway. HTH.
Good luck!

Reply

kate June 8, 2011 at 9:57 am

I’m not sure if you had the coupon or not, but the coupon states where the retailer should mail it, so I’m sure it says to mail it to Nestle.

I have a few Shop Rite Super Coupons to use. On the coupon, it states “With this coupon and an additional purchase of $15.00 or more (excluding fuel & items prohibited by law). Is the additional purchase of $15.00, before or after other coupons? So if I buy a mustard for $1, and have a 50 cent coupon doubled, does that count as anything towards the “additional $15.00″? I’m very new at couponing so thank you for any help!

Reply

Cassie June 8, 2011 at 8:39 am

It depends on the store. In my old ShopRite (before we moved), it was $15.00 AFTER all coupons. At my new ShopRite, it is $15.00 BEFORE all coupons. I always hand my stack of coupons over with the SR Super Coupons on the top. The old ShopRite just scanned them last, the new SR scans them first.

Note, you are allowed to stack the SR Super Coupons with a manufacturer’s coupon. This is a printed policy for ShopRites.

Hello Cindy
This morning my co-worker and I started talking about coupons. I told her about your website and we discussed TLC’s extreme couponing program. She said those people save so my money because they use more than one coupon on each item. From what I know you are allowed to use only one coupon per item, and you can combine it only with catalina coupon. She claims more coupons per items are allowed as long as each coupon is different. Who is right?.

Reply

Cindy June 7, 2011 at 11:40 am

You can never use more then 1 coupon per item unless it’s a store coupon stacked with a manufacturers coupon.

Just got back from ShopRite….My cashier told me that I couldn’t use four Dannon yogurt coupons and the $3.75 off the milk coupon because the $3.75 coupon is a manufactures coupon and you can onkly use one per item……Is he right about that?????

Reply

Leah June 7, 2011 at 4:12 pm

Thats a good question. I know the $3.75 coupon in the Shoprite paper WAS a manufacturers coupon, but I would assume the 3.75 was coming off of the milk, not the yogurts..? So including 4 yougurt packs and the milk, that would only be 1 coupon per item. But maybe since its a dannon manufacturer they are applying it towards one of the yogurts…? If that is the case, then I’d be curious to know if you actually have to buy the milk..

Reply

Ted June 7, 2011 at 6:26 pm

That’s ridiculous… my store had a copy of the coupon near the deal pointing out that you could use the coupon from the circular. It’s basically meant to be an instant CAT for free milk. That cashier sounds like he was just a bit confused..

Hello Cindy
I think the Always promo is stated incorrect. The sale is when you buy 3 certain tagged large packages they will total 14.97(4.99 each). Ordinary they are 5.99 each x 3 ==17.97. Three dollars will come off the 17.97, making the sale 14.97. Not 14.97-3.00=11.97.
Has anyone tried this….I read the sale differently. I do like Cindy’s version.
Also my Shop rite still has the Resolve for $1.79, just in case someone had a coupon from last promo.

I happened to see that the large bags I think they were 2lb size of Beggin Strips dog treats are on sale 2 for $10.99 which is half off.

On some of the bags were $2.00 off peelie coupons good for one bag. Which brought each bag down to $3.49.
I bought 4 bags with no problems using four of the peelie coupons.
My dog is so happy with me right now.

A bit further away is ShopRite Glassboro – they run out of some products – probably because they are busier.

I live in yonkers and the shoprite on Tuckahoe has to be the worst. Nasty customer service; always giving a hard time with coupons, etc.

I went to Shoprite in Cortlandt Manor which is the nicest supermarket. The cashiers, stock help, CS, Managers are ALL wonderful to their customers. Friendly, nice, go out of their way to help you find something and always clean and well stocked. It’s a pleasure shopping there. Less stressful.

I think if more people complained to corporate at the store they shop at, maybe they will educated their staff on providing better customer service.

The shoprite in Glen Burnie fully doubles up to .99. Not sure if you consider that close enough.

I live in Absecon, NJ and asked the same question, but was willing to travel up to 2 hours to get to a store that fully doubles. No such luck! The best I could come up with is that the store in Manahawkin will double coupons that are up to a $.75 value (making them worth $1.50), but $1 coupons are only worth $1. Since Blackwood is about an hour west of Absecon, don’t bother hunting east of you….it will save you some time!
PS—Pathmark’s will double coupon values up to $.99…. a $1 coupon is still just worth $1, but if you are lucky enough to find a $.99 coupon, Pathmark will give you $1.98 for it.

A couple of notes, though. I had 4 identical coupons for $0.65/1 Butterball turkey products or chicken strips, so I bought 2 Butterball Grilled Chicken Strips and 2 Butterball Oven Roasted Chicken Strips, all on sale for $1.99. However, the coupon doubled (to $1) only on the Oven Roasted Strips. The Grilled Strips rang up with only the $0.65 coupon – no doubling. Don’t know why. Also, I bought the Eggland’s Best Eggs for $1.88 with a $0.35 coupon – and that coupon did not double at all.
