I would ask a store associate. I was told that my CVS does not have any of them for customers, because it’s not a “beauty store”. I’m out of luck there
Julia, NV
uh, it’s not a beauty store item – it’s a magazine published by CVS corp featuring coupons for cosmetic-and-hba items. how bizarre is that associate’s response! i’d ask for a mgr.
I’m a little confused about that myself. I didn’t include it because it didn’t have the gas logo next to it. But, I could be wrong. I figured I’d stay on the safe side and not include it. Hopefully we find out that they are included.
Hi Jennifer – I actually was confused about that myself the other day. I watched a video (link below) and essentially, you can’t combine a B1G1 manufacturer’s coupon with another manufacturer’s coupon. Reason being, you have to buy 2 items to get the B1G1, so you can only use that coupon. (I hope I typed that out clearly)
“…Numbers in the 10th & 11th place of the barcode (#4 above) represent the dollar amount of the coupon. The only numbers you need to know are when there is a BOGO coupon. BOGOs (Buy One Get One Free) are either coded with a “14″ or a “01″. “01″ means that the they will only be attaching to one of the items and you are free to use a dollar off coupon on the other product. “14″ mean that the it attaches to both products so you will NOT be able to use a dollar off coupon with the BOGO….”
I think the above post should be removed because it is going to confuse some people I’m sure. Eileen, what your saying could be taken as true but it is things like this that’s going to make using coupons in the future harder for everyone. When you have a BOGO coupon you need to buy one to get the other one free hence the coupon itself is for two products, what your saying is like taking a coupon for $1 off two items and trying to use two coupons for those items, i.e. two bars of soap, you hand them to the cashier then you hand them the coupon which takes the $1 off, then you hand them another of the same coupon and your logic is the 1st coupon took the $1 off the 1st bar in the set of two, and the second took it off the second of the two.. Okay I know this is a confusing scenario but to all new couponers and old couponers if you have a BOGO coupon you are NOT supposed to use any other coupon for those two items regardless of the bar-code and yes the register might take it but the stores won’t get paid for it and if that keeps happening we will all see new coupon policies, harder policies and will have to learn to coupon all over again..
again my opinion is please remove the above post.
Thanks
Joe, I’m not sure why you think that. There is nothing wrong at all with using another coupon on the other item. Sometimes manufacturer have the coupon set up so that it is truly just a free item. the coupon attaches only to the one item allowing the other item to have a coupon against it. The manufacturer will get reimbursed for it, I have checked.
I should clarify that it depends on the coding of the coupon. If the coupon is coded with an 01 then it is only applying to one item. You still need to buy 2 to get the one free however, it does free up the other item to have a coupon used against it. These days, most BOGO coupons are set up so that they are coded with a 14 which does not allow for another coupon to be used against the other item. So, we can’t use another coupon on the other one anyway.
OK, looks like I started a something that we can’t all agree on. I went to CVS this morning and bought shampoo used a B1G1 and I used another coupon for $1.00 when you buy 2 and they both went through. I have no idea if they had a 14 or 1 on the coupons. I will just use 2 coupons and if they don’t take both then that’s ok. I guess we just have to try to see if it will go through.
Thanks everyone for your help.
Check store policy too – some stores, even if the coupon will (and should) go through, don’t allow the coupon on the free item. Obviously not the case with CVS if it worked for you.
and the post was a direct copy from a page located in this website so anyone can look there as well its in the beginners section regarding BOGO’s
and i dont think its that confusing
if you want to get confusing I saw a blogpost on another couponing site explaining how to use a BOGO with $x/2 or $x/3 etc… now that was interesting, if lets say you have 3 BOGO free coupons (coded “01″ ) and a $1/3 coupon and buy 6 of the item you can use them together or you could use a $1/2 and a $1/1 in place of the $1/3 lol
Could someone please help me figure out how the Oral-B CrossAction deal would go with a B1G1 coupon from the 6/5 P&G ?
Oral-B CrossAction or Advantage Toothbrush – $3.00
Get $1.00 ECB (limit 2)
Would the coupon take $3.00 off the second toothbrush or $3.99 the maximum value of the coupon? And am I supposed to get 1 ECB or would I receive 2 ECBs (get an ECB for the free toothbrush)?
I have never done this type of deal, and I’m almost positive, the cashier will not know how it should work with the coupons. Thanks so much!
It won’t take off the maximum value of the coupon, it will only take off what the retailer’s selling price is for the item at the time of redemption. They put a maximum value on the BOGO coupons so that the retailers don’t hike up the price of the item and then try to get reimbursed for that inflated amount rather than the regular average retail amount.
It should count towards ECBs. The dove deal last somehow i ended up paying 3.27 for all my stuff and getting 5ECB. lol i dont even know how it happened, the cashier was helping me and she took the coupons out of my binder that were needed for my transaction. She said her and her manager are big couponers so she knew which coupons to use.
It should have counted because CVS is going to be reimbursed for the free item you received by the manufacturer so it’s not free for them and once it goes in to their register computer it reflects a purchase with or without a free coupon. Remember, you didn’t have to use your coupon w/CVS. My advice to you is either ask for a manager or go to another CVS where the employees know what their doing.
Linda, in my CVS the BOGO takes the sale price off. I’m not certain, but I think you’ll get 2 ECBs. I’m using tghe same coupon later, so I’ll let you know how it works out!
Ok so say the ecb deal for enfamil is buy 2 get $6, and the store only has 1, can I buy the 2nd one later in the week or do I need to buy 2 in one transaction?
You can buy it later in the week. CVS keeps track of your transactions on your card. When you eventually buy your second can (as long as it’s during this sale week) your ECB should print.
Hi Sue
I see The reinventing beauty mag only in CVS stores w a special
enhanced beauty section. Usually a new or large store. It is on an end cap I beauty section mixed w regular products
So upset– went to CVS today to buy 2 of the Oral B advantage toothbrushes. Get up to the register and the cashier tells me that I can only use one of my $2 off coupons. I ask her to explain why (because I’ve never run into this problem before) and she just gets pissed. The line was really long and I didn’t want to bother the manager, but I’ve never heard of not being able to use two coupons on two of the same items!!! Any advice on what to do?
Never heard of it either, I would have bothered with the manager, it’s your money, heck with the line and although I love CVS, I also noticed that the cashiers get all pissy when you use the coupons and have super unfriendly look on their faces. I would have told her to get the manager!
You know, I encountered the same thing from one of the cashiers at my normally super friendly CVS. As soon as she saw my coupons, her face soured. She yelled “coupons” to another cashier who was tidying up an aisle. That cashier came over, took over the transaction, processing my coupons in a snap and commented “you’ll never learn how to process coupons if you keep avoiding it.” The sour cashier simply rolled her eyes, I paid and left the store…
I got $2 off Skittles or Starburst coupon from the Magic Coupon Machine + $1 off printed coupon- makes it free!! Also I got free Air Delight bar and $2 off any(2) Pantene or Herbal+$3 off man coupon makes it good deal oh and $3 off styler when you buy Herbal or Aussie.
Happy 4th of July, everybody!!
P.S. I didnt have a good trip to CVS last night. Atleast it wasnt a good experience. 1. The cashier did not scan my card properly. 2. All the regular prices came up. 3. She scanned my coupons but I saw that my $5 Bounty coupon was not scanned. 4. I went back for explanation. 5. Cashier said, “Oh, that didnt go through. I’ll give you cash.” Oh, ok..so if I’d not gone back, then I was getting ripped off? I could not trust her with my other coupons
The end of my receipts under where it says “this week’s EB offers” is says John Freida, Spend $20, Get $10 ECB. I did not see that deal here on the weekly matchups. It says I need $2.51 to earn reward. Is it keeping a running tab? Can I go back and spend the $2.51 and get the ECB? I thought it had to be on one transaction?
The cashier at my CVS (who is also a shift supervisor) told me they are no longer able to accept Smart Source coupons. She said it came from the general manager and that she thinks it is for all CVS stores. Apparently they were not getting reimbursed for some of the Smart Source coupons and since they have no way of knowing they will and won’t get reimbursed for, they are not taking any. Huge bummer! Anyone else encountering this at CVS?

Cindy, check your coppertone deal idea, i think you meant buy 2
Yep, thanks. I corrected that.
where do i find the CVS Reinventing Beauty magazine? Ive never seen it in the store. I am in North Carolina.
I would ask a store associate. I was told that my CVS does not have any of them for customers, because it’s not a “beauty store”. I’m out of luck there

Cindy, can i purchase the sunday paper with cvs extrabucks??
Yes you can.
I haven’t done it, but I’m fairly certain you can.
Yes you can~~
Yup, that’s a great use of ECB
I do all the time
is bounty n pampers included in gas deal?
I’m a little confused about that myself. I didn’t include it because it didn’t have the gas logo next to it. But, I could be wrong. I figured I’d stay on the safe side and not include it. Hopefully we find out that they are included.
I just looked at the ad online. Bounty Basic and Pampers are both included in gas deal
I am confused about using buy 1 get 1 free coupons. If I use this coupon can I also use another coupon that gives me say $1.00 off?

Cindy — thanks as always for the match-ups! You’re the best!
not true, to quote cony in the beginners section:

so SOMETIMES you can use a bogo Q WITH a $x off Q

Yes they are;) We need some toothbrushes so tomorrow I will make my trip to CVS looks like they gonna have great deals on them
Cindy,
Enfamil 22.2-23.4oz- I believe you can find a $5.00 off coupon here.
http://www.coupons.com/ using zip 34286
can i use a coupon on the free schick razor if i got the $15 worth of dove and the razor in one transaction?
I wanted to know the same thing?
lol.. and can i ask what happened to the rest of the stuff for the gas deal? LOL
Bounty, Charmin, Tide,Pantene, Always,Pampers.. all that stuff is on the first page.
What do you guys think about the Covergirl B1G1 this week? Not worth it even with the Natureluxe $5/2 coupons?
Could someone please help me figure out how the Oral-B CrossAction deal would go with a B1G1 coupon from the 6/5 P&G ?
Oral-B CrossAction or Advantage Toothbrush – $3.00

I used the BOGO coupon and got $2.00 ECB rewards PLUS CVS accepted the 2nd Q for $1.00 off making my toothbrushes FREE!
With the B1g1 coupons, the free item does not count as $ towards ECB. Found that out last week with the Dove deal.
It should count towards ECBs. The dove deal last somehow i ended up paying 3.27 for all my stuff and getting 5ECB. lol i dont even know how it happened, the cashier was helping me and she took the coupons out of my binder that were needed for my transaction. where do you get the CVS reinventing beuty magazine?
In some stores it’s by the registers with the other magazines, but sometimes it’s in the beauty section of the store.
Linda, in my CVS the BOGO takes the sale price off. I’m not certain, but I think you’ll get 2 ECBs. I’m using tghe same coupon later, so I’ll let you know how it works out!
Thank you! Looking forward to your response so I know what to expect.
Linda, I answered above: the toothbrushes ended up free – the BOGO + $2.00 ECB + $1.00 off on 2nd = FREE! YAY!
Thanks for the update Robin! Will try it out a little later in the week.
to all:
check your coupons… you may have a $3.00 off 2 Tampax – still a good deal.
Just checked my email and was excited to find a save $4 off any purchase of $20 or more coupon from CVS good through 7/4!
wow! That’s awesome! I better check my spam box!
Thanks Susie, I checked my email and I got CVS coupon- $5 off any purchase of $25 or more valid through 7/4/11.
I got one yesterday for $5 off of a $30 purchase good through Sunday, 7/10.
I’m a little confused, I went to CVS this morning, coppertone is $9.99, not $7.87, I live in SoCal…so maybe prices are different?!
Fusion Proglide was $7.87, used $4off mfc which worked, but did not get ECB??!!
Should I go back to CVS and ask them for ECB?
***I scanned cvs card in magic machine and got FREE HERSHEY AIR DELIGHT CHOCOLATE BAR!*** (my hubby appreciates that!)
Coppertone at my CVS was also $9.99 (Southern CT)
If it was in their circular you should ask for your ECB! That’s $5 on something else.
***another question: are limits on ECB items weekly or monthly?***
Should be weekly.
Ok so say the ecb deal for enfamil is buy 2 get $6, and the store only has 1, can I buy the 2nd one later in the week or do I need to buy 2 in one transaction?
You can buy it later in the week. CVS keeps track of your transactions on your card. When you eventually buy your second can (as long as it’s during this sale week) your ECB should print.

actually it has the coupon sticker right on the pack of tea
