ShopRite: L’Oreal Catalina Update

ShopRite: L’Oreal Catalina Update

Here is another update on the L’Oreal Catalina Deal this week.  If you remember, the deal is Buy $15 Get a $5 Catalina.  The deal is working on shelf price, however, not all of you have been able to get the catalina.

The problem seems to come from the L’Oreal Kids Shampoo.  At first I thought it was just the L’Oreal Kids Cars 2 Products but it seems to be ALL of the L’Oreal Kids Shampoos.  And, L’Oreal did not supply Catalina Marketing with all the correct UPC codes so they are not recognizing the L’Oreal Kids Shampoos as part of the deal even though it is advertised in the circular.

If you do want to purchase the Kids Shampoos, then my suggestion is to meet the $15 on the sale price of the item.  This way, you can go to ShopRite customer service and they should honor the deal.  Customer Service can give you a $5 catalina or a $5 Shoprite gift card.  So, here is a deal you can do on the L’Oreal Kids Shampoo based on sale price:

Buy 4 L’Oreal Kids Shampoo $1.99 each
Buy 3 L’Oreal Vive Pro Shampoo $2.49 each
Total: $15.43
-(4)$0.75/1 L’Oreal Kids Shampoo Coupons from the 6/19 RP Insert
-(3)$0.75/1 L’Oreal Vive Pro Coupons from the 7/10 RP Insert
Pay: $4.93
Get a $5 Catalina
Free after coupons & catalina

If your ShopRite does not fully double, then here is your deal:

Buy 4 L’Oreal Kids Shampoo $1.99 each
Buy 3 L’Oreal Vive Pro Shampoo $2.49 each
Total: $15.43
-(4)$0.75/1 L’Oreal Kids Shampoo Coupons from the 6/19 RP insert
-(3)$0.75/1 L’Oreal Vive Pro Coupons from the 7/10 RP insert
Pay: $8.43
Get a $5 Catalina
$0.49 each after coupons & catalina

Note: Some stores may claim that you did not get your catalina (even when you base it on the sale price) because you used coupons.  That is simply not the case.  Coupons do not effect the the catalina.

Make sure to check out the rest of the ShopRite Deals this week.

Thanks for this! I actually want to do this deal multiple times again, because that conditioner is the only things that works on my kids head.

    • christine

I’m 42 and still use this conditioner.
It is the only thing that works on my kinky curly hair.

  • Stephalini

I had to go to customer service, they said it was due to the coupons. I asked to speak with manager and she said coupons shouldn’t affect it and printed out the $5 off coupon for me no problem.

  • Michele

Well I wanted to do this deal since my son loves Cars. I think I might skip the cat and just buy 1 for him.

  • Lori

    Cindy,
Just to clarify… So Catalina Marketing will NOT send you the catalina if you do your scenerio # 1 and call them direct?

    Buy 4 L’Oreal Kids Shampoo $1.99 each
Buy 3 L’Oreal Vive Pro Shampoo $2.49 each
    Total: $15.43
-(4)$0.75/1 L’Oreal Kids Shampoo Coupons from the 6/19 RP Insert
-(3)$0.75/1 L’Oreal Vive Pro Coupons from the 7/10 RP Insert
    Pay: $4.93
    Get a $5 Catalina
    Free after coupons & catalina

No because L’Oreal did not supply them with certain UPC codes for the L’Oreal Kids. So, when they look at your transaction, the UPC for the kids don’t register with their system. This happened recently with the Scott Tub Free Bath Tissue. I am contacting L’Oreal and letting them know that this is the case.

ShopRite will honor it since it’s advertised however only if you do it on the sale price. Which is still a great deal anyway. When you get into deals at shelf price, most ShopRites will not honor it saying it needs to be on sale price.

two weeks ago there was a catalina deal wyb 2 loreal kids shampoos. I stocked up big time using the coupons and catalina’s were printing out just fine. I think because the kids catalina deal just ended, thats why its not printing on this new loreal deal.

  • Doris

Does shelf price mean 1.99 or the 2.99? Sorry, just not sure what that means. And, does the $15 purchase for the catalina have to be on the same bill or could it be from different visits?

    • Katie

Shelf price on the kids shampoo is $2.99. Sale price on kids shampoo is $1.99. The $15 purchase must be made in ONE transaction (the computer doesn’t keep track on this one). Because of this Loreal glitch, if you want to buy the kids shampoo, make sure your $15 adds up according to sale price and bring your receipt to the customer service desk. If you are only interested in buying the adult shampoo or styling aids, you can add up to the $15 according to the shelf price (about 4 bottles) and the $5 catalina coupon will print on it’s own at the register.

Just a statement regarding the obvious… if you need the Kids shampoo:
    Buy 4 L’Oreal Kids Shampoo $1.99 each
Buy 4 (not 3) L’Oreal Vive Pro Shampoo $2.49 each
-(4)$0.75/1 L’Oreal Kids Shampoo Coupons from the 6/19 RP Insert
-(4)$0.75/1 L’Oreal Vive Pro Coupons from the 7/10 RP Insert
You’ll pay about $1 more, get an additional Vive Pro, and get the $5 Catalina without visiting customer service. All you’d need is the extra Vive Pro coupon,

    • Katie

Most of us were trying to just buy 4 kids shampoo and 1 Vive shampoo(and probably would have done it multiple times to stock up) to get the catalina to print. If Loreal had done their job and submitted the right UPC codes, that scenerio would have worked easily :(

      • Lianne

yeah that was exactly what I had hoped to do :/

    • kevin

I’m not sure what I’ll do. Use the little overage from vive pro towards the Kids shampoo. Not sure if it’d be better to eat the few dollars I spent on the extra coupons i ordered. Maybe another deal will pop up.

I had a problem recently at my ShopRite with catalinas not printing out and the manager actually told me that it was due to the coupons that I used. That the coupons brought the price down, and it affected the deal which prevented the catalina from printing out. I told the manager that coupons shouldn’t have anything to do with reaching the amount on the deal and it never mattered before (I had catalinas print out successfully). Is there something in writing that I can print and have on hand to prove to the manager that coupons shouldn’t affect it? Thanks!

    • TM

I was also told this when I did the Dove deal a week or 2 ago! The lady at customer service was very adament that it had to be reached even after sale and coupons. She gave me the cat’s but said in the future I wouldn’t be able to get them again.

    • Katie

I feel like Shop Rite in general is picking on us couponers lately. They make it more and more difficult to (legally) save some money. Just the other day, I went through self-scan and my inital bill was $42…and then it boiled down to $19 after coupons. I paid and was putting my items in my bags when the cashier that is in charge of the 4 self scan registers came over to me and the register I used and said “Oh, we have to double check the coupons of people like YOU now. People that use that many coupons always use expired one’s.” Well, she checked mine and none were expired…she didn’t appologize either. Isn’t that discrimination?

      • Kara

I usually go to the self check out, and the girl that works there during the week has come to know me. She knows I use the right coupons on the right products and never expired ones. It’s nice not to have a problem.. BUT, the machine is set up on it own to require the cashier to check coupons when you use many. She told me. But at this point she doesn’t waste either of our time and just pushes it through for me. like I said, she knows I’m honest.

As for the catalina on the shampoo, I had to go to customer service to get the one after buying kids shampoo. After EDUCATING the woman on coupons not affecting the catalinas and the total prices based on shelf prices, AND showing her a receipt from the transaction before when all I bought was 4 Pro Vie conditioners for$3.98 and getting a $5 cat on that, she printed on off for me. It helps to be armed with proof that it will print when the actual total is not $15.

  • Lori

FYI… The Loreal Kids detangler is also $1.99. No problem with the catalina printing when you buy that.

    • Katie

Can you please tell me exactly what you bought that printed the CAT, including the detangler? I would love to do ANY deal that involves the kids products that does not involve going to the Customer Service desk again.

  • tj

I tried in hoboken today and they would not print the Cat at customer service. They said it was bc of the coupons. In this case is there anything else I can do?

  • Orapin

Shoprite(west babylon), I bought $15.98 with the deal but I didn’t get $5. I went to customer service, she told me, my stuff did not worth $15 because coupons bring the price down and manager also said the same!. I was so angry about this…I return all of them and got coupons and money back.
