try the other version – mine didnt work on the ‘newer’ one, so i downloaded the ‘older’ one and it worked, even thought my laptop isnt too old – 2009

Reply

Jodi January 25, 2012 at 6:24 pm

You have to have the older version, if it doesn’t work send me your email and I’ll convert to an older version and resend.

the budgeted cash mixes with the amount saved at the top of the month… so if I budget $500 spend $50 save $200 it tells me I have only $250 left in the budget…. But I would really have $450 left. I’m going to start next month using this program for the budget

Reply

merce January 25, 2012 at 12:56 pm

I noticed the same. It is an easy fix. In cell D6 total amount paid change =SUM(I12:I100) by =SUM(C12:C100) and then you’ll have the amount you really spent.

Misally January 25, 2012 at 1:44 pm

How cool it that! I just downloaded and entered today’s shopping. I saved 43% today and that included a lot of organic produce w/o coupons.

Thanks so much, Cindy. You are the bomb!

Jenn January 25, 2012 at 3:12 pm

This works great, thank you!!!! I have a few questions:

At Winn Dixie, I sometimes get a coupon handed back to me with my receipt. Is that a Catalina that would go in the last column?

As you know, Aldi doesn’t take coupons or show savings on their receipts. Do I enter that receipt anyway (in order to get a true monthly total spent?).

Do Winn Dixie Fuelperks go anywhere?

Thank you so much you guys….what a HUGE help you are!

Reply

jill b January 25, 2012 at 3:30 pm

yes, enter all you spent. What you saved is just to fluff your own feathers and make you feel good about yourself… What you spend is all that really matters.

Thank you! This is awesome, last Feb. I put together a spreadsheet (kind of) to track my savings, but it was a flop….I love yours and I will keep using it. I just filled in all of January’s trips. I went a little over budget this month because of ShopRite’s Can Can Sale, so I’m hoping to make up for it in savings next month…
Thank you for the new couponing tool, I’m going to add to my coupon toolbox! :o )

I just started couponing this month and was going to do my own spreadsheet and you guys did it for me thanks!! I just entered in my info and I realized that on the Shoprite receipts the savings they list on the bottom doesn’t always add up. When I add the stuff manually it does (so confusing). I’m not trying to figure out how to imput the target info in this since the receipt doesn’t make sense to me either for thier total savings. any help is appreciated on the Target receipts.

Cindy, I’ve never set a budget. Do I have too. I use to spend $220 a week on everything, now it’s usually $75 or less. How important would a budget be? Also, thanks for all you do, I was able to donate 814 jars of babby food, 7 cereals, and 2 cans formula over the last 2 weeks. YOU ARE THE BEST.

Reply

Marci January 25, 2012 at 10:55 pm

Thank you so much for putting this together. I just went and put in all my receipts from last year so I can start to compare it to this year! I already saw my growth from 31% savings to 51% savings. You are teaching us great things!!

I cannot wait to start using this tool! Since we already more than halfway through January, I will start in February. I am not an extreme couponer like some, but still use them all the time. This will be just another way for my family to stay within our budget during these hard times! I love it! Thank you so much!

Reply

lisa January 26, 2012 at 10:21 pm

Awesome tool. I am a little confused…Did anyone notice that when you go to Feb the leftover money is the “Total Coupons used ” from Jan? Why is that leftover from Jan? Or is it just tracking my toatl coupon savings for the year?

Reply

Cindy January 27, 2012 at 10:51 am

Lisa – That section should be the total amount of your budget left over from the previous month. It has been adjusted and a new link is available in the post.
If you want to change it on your own spreadsheet, all you have to do is make the “D” an “I” in the formula for that box!
On the February Tab it should read: =YTD!I3
The March Tab should read: =YTD!I4
The April Tab should read: =YTD!I5
etc.. All of these codes go in the J2 box from February on.

I hope that helps! You can always just re-download the Savings Tracker for the error to be adjusted already.

Reply

Cindy January 31, 2012 at 1:23 pm

No, it’s not supposed to effect anything! It is there just for your to keep track of what you received that trip! When you use them is when it will effect something!

I have a quick question. I just downloaded it and inputted my receipts from prior weeks.

On a ShopRite receipt, they breakdown the savings into categories:

Total On Sale Savings $x
PPC & Mfr Cpns $x
Multiplied Cpns $x
PPC & Store Cpns $x
Total Savings today is $x

In column E for “Coupons Used” would I add PPC & Mfr Cpns + Multipled Cpns + PPC & Store Cpns to get the “Coupons Used” total?

Reply

Cindy January 31, 2012 at 3:19 pm

Yes, that is right. All Coupons you used (manuf./Store/ecoupon etc) all go under “Coupons Used”. So you just add price up to get the total for that colomn.

Reply

Heather January 31, 2012 at 3:23 pm

Thanks Cindy. I haven’t had nearly enough coffee today, and I thought it looked right but I wanted to double check!

Reply

Heather January 31, 2012 at 3:08 pm

Also, what do you ladies do for weeks that have two months in them? Like this week, we have 3 days in January and 4 days in February. I shopped last night, so I inputted that trip into the January spreadsheet. But I plan on going back on Friday for more shopping. Would I input that into my January sheet or my February sheet? And would the amount I pay on Friday calculate into my January or February budget?

Sorry for the all the questions. Just trying to get all of this straight so I can really get a handle on our money!

Reply

Aimee January 31, 2012 at 3:47 pm

Just entered in my CVS receipts from last night and I used a $10 CVS gift card (from the promotion a couple weeks ago), when I put it under ECB used, but not under the total savings, it made my store savings a negative number and skewed my percentage saved. To fix this I just added the $10 from the gift card to the total savings amount that was given on my receipt.

Reply

Cindy January 31, 2012 at 4:29 pm

Make sure your gift cards and catalinas are always part of your total savings because essentially they are apart of your savings.
