Do you have to have Excel on your computer to use this? Or can you just download it and use it?

  • Cheryl

    Is this MAC friendly?

    • alicia

      nope 🙁

      • K

I have a mac and Numbers and am able to open it and use it. I downloaded the 1st link. Numbers opens Mac files and Excel files.
        Hope this helps.

        • robi

i dont have numbers, and cannot open it on excel. do you know if there will be a mac friendly version?

    • Kim

I have a mac and a really old version of excel for macs and it works great for me! Yay!

  • ashley

i cant get it to work. 🙁

  • Kim Phillips

I can’t get it to work either…and I extracted all the files too. Keep coming up as xml?

    Any help is appreciated

    • Anonymous

try the other version – mine didnt work on the ‘newer’ one, so i downloaded the ‘older’ one and it worked, even thought my laptop isnt too old – 2009

      • Jodi

You have to have the older version, if it doesn’t work send me your email and I’ll convert to an older version and resend.

  • Laura

Ohhhh i want this! How can I get it to save on the iPad?

  • Misally

Just downloaded…..reading the instructions seems easy enough, can’t wait to input my shoprite trip from saturday!

  • jill b

the budgeted cash mixes with the amount saved at the top of the month… so if I budget $500 spend $50 save $200 it tells me I have only $250 left in the budget…. But I would really have $450 left. I’m going to start next month using this program for the budget

    • merce

I noticed the same. It is an easy fix. In cell D6 total amount paid change =SUM(I12:I100) by =SUM(C12:C100) and then you’ll have the amount you really spent.

      • Misally

        It worked, thanks!!

      • jill b

        Nice, thanks.

  • ES

Any chance you can also post this in regular .xls format (for those of us with older versions of Excel :-/ )?

    • Cindy

We are going to add it so stay tuned.

      • ES

        cool – thanks!!!

  • Shannon

What am I doing wrong? I extracted all the files. I tried to open them but they don’t open correctly. I know how to use Excel – not sure what the problem is.

  • susan c

    i don’t have excel on my computer… :O(

    • Jenn

Susan, see of OpenOffice Calc (it’s free) will work for you.

      • susan c

thanks for the info jenn… i’m going to try it…:O)

  • Shannon

Oh I think it is because I have Excel 2007? I am so outdated! LOL

    • Cindy

We just added a link for older versions. See if that one works.

  • Martha

makes two of us.. no luck opening it! 🙁

    • Anonymous

use the ‘older’ version – that worked for me!

  • Jane

    Thanks!!! 🙂

  • Amara

Thank you so much Cindy! It is much different than the spreadsheet I was using. Thank you for all that you do. You have inspired me so much that I have called in my family to help me out with switching back to a coupon binder. I have over a foot of coupon inserts to cut and sort. I have family members asking me to teach them as well! Thanks for changing our lives 🙂

  • Jean

I am having trouble with downloading this…is anyone else?

  • Jessica

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! You have helped me save so much money and now i can actually keep track of it over the year! Thank you again for all you do!

  • Nancy

Awesome! I love it! Thank you!!

  • anyone without excel should be able to open it in open office, or google docs both are free programs 🙂

  • Shavvon

    Thanks Cindy!!!
    This is so awesome!!!

  • Dawn

  • Thank you for this! I made my own, but yours is more condensed and easier to use. Thanks again!

  • Julianna

This looks great! I’m going to start using it on February 1st.

  • Lady J

Fantastic. I was keeping track on paper, because I wasn’t sure how I wanted to track it on the computer. Seems like this will be good. I will definitely have to give it a try.

  • Dee2

How cool it that! I just downloaded and entered today’s shopping. I saved 43% today and that included a lot of organic produce w/o coupons.

Thanks so much, Cindy. You are the bomb!

  • Jenn

This works great, thank you!!!! I have a few questions:

At Winn Dixie, I sometimes get a coupon handed back to me with my receipt. Is that a Catalina that would go in the last column?

As you know, Aldi doesn’t take coupons or show savings on their receipts. Do I enter that receipt anyway (in order to get a true monthly total spent?).

Do Winn Dixie Fuelperks go anywhere?

Thank you so much you guys….what a HUGE help you are!

    • jill b

yes, enter all you spent. What you saved is just to fluff your own feathers and make you feel good about yourself… What you spend is all that really matters.

  • Jill D

    Thank you Cindy!
I can’t wait to show my savings at the end of the year!

  • Sheila

Thank you! Thank you! LOVE IT!!

  • Adina S.

I don’t understand what to put in column D – I read it a few times, but I don’t know how to get that information off my receipt.

  • Amy

Thanks, this is great just started couponing at beginning of the month and was trying to figure out a way to keep track of my savings!! I love it works great thanks!

  • Janette

Thank you! This is awesome, last Feb. I put together a spreadsheet (kind of) to track my savings, but it was a flop….I love yours and I will keep using it. I just filled in all of January’s trips. I went a little over budget this month because of ShopRite’s Can Can Sale, so I’m hoping to make up for it in savings next month…
Thank you for the new couponing tool, I’m going to add to my coupon toolbox! :o)

  • Hannah

Thank you, thank you, thank you! This spreadsheet is amazing!

  • susan c

i just d/l the … openoffice calc….sooo how do i get cindy’s spreadsheet to work in this program??

    • susan c

i did it… i figured it out!!! happy dance… happy dance!! now i just have to figure out how to use it….lol….

      • Laura

        What did you do?

        • susan c

i put cindy’s spreadsheet on my desk top… then just moved it over into the openoffice folder…. it was as simple as that….lol

          • TuSheaka Hill

how did you get openoffice on your ipad

      • susan c

thank you jenn for the software info… and thank you .. thank you cindy for all you do…. you are an amazing gal!! :O)

  • Judany

I just started couponing this month and was going to do my own spreadsheet and you guys did it for me thanks!! I just entered in my info and I realized that on the Shoprite receipts the savings they list on the bottom doesn’t always add up. When I add the stuff manually it does (so confusing). I’m not trying to figure out how to imput the target info in this since the receipt doesn’t make sense to me either for thier total savings. any help is appreciated on the Target receipts.

  • Karen

Cindy, I’ve never set a budget. Do I have too. I use to spend $220 a week on everything, now it’s usually $75 or less. How important would a budget be? Also, thanks for all you do, I was able to donate 814 jars of babby food, 7 cereals, and 2 cans formula over the last 2 weeks. YOU ARE THE BEST.

  • Marci

Thank you so much for putting this together. I just went and put in all my receipts from last year so I can start to compare it to this year! I already saw my growth from 31% savings to 51% savings. You are teaching us great things!!

  • Erin

    Thanks for this Cindy!!!

  • Christina Duell

I cannot wait to start using this tool! Since we already more than halfway through January, I will start in February. I am not an extreme couponer like some, but still use them all the time. This will be just another way for my family to stay within our budget during these hard times! I love it! Thank you so much!

  • lisa

Awesome tool. I am a little confused…Did anyone notice that when you go to Feb the leftover money is the “Total Coupons used ” from Jan? Why is that leftover from Jan? Or is it just tracking my toatl coupon savings for the year?

    • Cindy

Lisa – That section should be the total amount of your budget left over from the previous month. It has been adjusted and a new link is available in the post.
If you want to change it on your own spreadsheet, all you have to do is make the “D” an “I” in the formula for that box!
On the February Tab it should read: =YTD!I3
The March Tab should read: =YTD!I4
The April Tab should read: =YTD!I5
etc.. All of these codes go in the J2 box from February on.

I hope that helps! You can always just re-download the Savings Tracker for the error to be adjusted already.

  • Melissa

omg thanks sooo much im not to good at excell, ima try and do this over the weekend.

  • Amy

I need some help on the Krogers receipt would you enter the store coupons that automatically getting taken off when you use your kroger plus card to the coupon total ? or just use the mq coupons ?

  • susan c

been putting my in…( love love love it!) i have a ?….when i enter whatever catalina’s …ECB”s etc… it doesn’t affect anything ….is it suppose to??? i hope someone understands what i just said….lol

    • Cindy

No, it’s not supposed to effect anything! It is there just for your to keep track of what you received that trip! When you use them is when it will effect something!

      • susan c

ok… thanks for the info….anddddd….THANK YOU! THANK YOU.. THANK YOU!!! :O)

  • I have a quick question. I just downloaded it and inputted my receipts from prior weeks.

On a ShopRite receipt, they breakdown the savings into categories:

    Total On Sale Savings $x
    PPC & Mfr Cpns $x
    Multiplied Cpns $x
    PPC & Store Cpns $x
    Total Savings today is $x

In column E for “Coupons Used” would I add PPC & Mfr Cpns + Multipled Cpns + PPC & Store Cpns to get the “Coupons Used” total?

    • Cindy

Yes, that is right. All Coupons you used (manuf./Store/ecoupon etc) all go under “Coupons Used”. So you just add price up to get the total for that colomn.

      • Thanks Cindy. I haven’t had nearly enough coffee today, and I thought it looked right but I wanted to double check!

  • Also, what do you ladies do for weeks that have two months in them? Like this week, we have 3 days in January and 4 days in February. I shopped last night, so I inputted that trip into the January spreadsheet. But I plan on going back on Friday for more shopping. Would I input that into my January sheet or my February sheet? And would the amount I pay on Friday calculate into my January or February budget?

Sorry for the all the questions. Just trying to get all of this straight so I can really get a handle on our money!

  • Aimee

Just entered in my CVS receipts from last night and I used a $10 CVS gift card (from the promotion a couple weeks ago), when I put it under ECB used, but not under the total savings, it made my store savings a negative number and skewed my percentage saved. To fix this I just added the $10 from the gift card to the total savings amount that was given on my receipt.

    • Cindy

Make sure your gift cards and catalinas are always part of your total savings because essentially they are apart of your savings.

  • Souljagrl

How do you add this tracker to an IPad 2

  • Jennifer

OMG, I am not Excel literate! This is a lifesaver! Thank you so much Cindy!

  • Iris

    Thanks Cindy.

Ii was planning on built my new one until I read your blog a couple of days ago. Thanks to you, I did not have to do the leg work. So far, over 50% savings in January!!! Gracias.

  • TuSheaka Hill

Susan C can you please help me get that sheet onto my ipad2

  • Souljagrl

Can someone help me set this up on my iPad2 step by step

  • mcmarie

Hi I just downloaded the grocery tracker and I am a bit lost as to what do we put in the “total savings” field when looking at a shop rite receipt? Also, I don’t know if I am doing something wrong but it’s not showing me any % saved. TIA

  • amy n

i cant get the second page with the directions on it for some reason, so i have no idea what to do. can someone tell me how to get the directions

  • Lauren

    Hello Cindy

I am unable to download the grocery saving tracter. I was able to open it when you first introduced it but I cannot open it now. Thank you for your help.

    • Cindy

Oh thanks for letting me know. I think I lost some info when they moved my server. My daughter Megan set that up for me so I will let her know so she can fix it!

  • Erin

I get an NOT FOUND message no matter which link I click…

  • Rebecca Ortiz

I have been trying to download this but it comes up as a read only. Any advice?

  • Anonymous

is this only for groceries or can i use this for everything i buy? should i have 2 separate sheets: grocery n hba?

  • Caley

I was wondering with stop&shop where would you suggest I put my card savings.

  • Cynthia

WOW!! LOVE THIS!!! Just happend to be looking for something like this online yesterday! Wanted to keep track! Thank You SO MUCH Cindy! You think of EVERYTHING!!

  • Andrea

When will the new ? version be ready for use?

  • David

    Where do enter rebates

  • Need to know where can I get wheatables coupons? I like them and eat them, and some times the stores are very costly and it’s hart to buy. Please reply to my email. Thank you Anita

  • tara

Are you going to make this spreadsheet available again.

    • Cindy

It should still be available. Are you having trouble downloading it?

  • Ashley

I am trying to figure out how to start a new month. I just went to Shop-Rite last night and I am still in June on the spread sheet. I’m sure I am just overlooking something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Tila

Hi Cindy, are you going to make this spreadsheet available again.

  • Siri

    Hi Cindy,
I faithfully used your spreadsheet each month this past year and did find a few bugs here and there – was wondering if you have any updates to post for 2013?? Thanks for letting me know!

    • Cindy

Yes we will be updating it. If you have a chance, we would love it if you could email and let her know the bugs you found. It’s always helpful to get feedback to improve it. Thanks a bunch.

  • Cynthia

Thanks so much for this spreadsheet! Can’t wait to get started this year and find out how much I am really saving (or NOT!). Wanted to do this last year but the program I found was difficult and this is easy!

  • Anonymous

Thank you so much!!! I’m a newbie at couponing and I was just trying to do an Excel file to know how much I’m saving and found it out! Amazing!

  • Shay

    Hi Cindy,

I was able to download the tracker but I can’t get the second page with the directions on it for some reason, so can you help me please?

  • Shay

    I downloaded both verisons also.

  • Connie

Not seeing the instructions on the second page of the tracker on either version? Tried several times. Not sure what i’m doing wrong.

  • Michael Thornton

I downloaded the program and started using it but in the YTD the column the total % saved isn’t showing in the Total YTD how can I fix it; it just says #DIV/0!

  • Ladybug

Thanks so much for this!!! This is absolutely awesome!

  • Farfinoogle

This is so easy. I had to download and import it to google’s spreadsheets! Wonderful.

  • Liba

    1. Thank you so much for this awesome tool. In very dark days (financially etc) I am able to take care of my son so much better because of your website.
    2. I wonder if you could post a picture with directions for a shoprite receipt. They are so confusing – and then when I try to figure out total savings vs store savings vs catalinas to put in those columns, not to mention the ecoupons that show up in middle of the purchases part of the receipt.
    3. Is there a reason you don’t have a column for percent saved AFTER catalinas?

  • Kathie

This is great. I just wish I could use it on my iPad instead of computer 🙁

  • Gabriel Fuentes

Thanks so much, just wanted to let you know that your savings rate for june isn’t adding up at all. The column is remaining blank

  • Dawn

Thank you so much for this. I don’t know what I am doing wrong, but I logged my shopping trips for the past few days, then saved the spreadsheet. Now when I go on to log tonight’s trip it won’t do the math. Did I do something wrong when I saved?

  • Erin

  • Tonya DeLong

my first time on this site was yesterday and it showed me all the deals at target and which coupons to use with which products to maximize savings and today I am not finding it. also there was a part of this site that explained what to buy in which transactions and I cannot find that part either. any suggestions?

  • Jen

For some reason, I did not notice this on your page or maybe because it was mid-year, I didn’t bother, but I’m excited to use it for 2015. My goal is to save even more on my groceries so I can invest more into my savings. I have already started using it (since I just took the cash out for my January grocery budget) and it works great! Thank you LRWC and Happy New Year!

    • Denise Uzunis

Awesome! I use it and love it! Happy New Year and Happy Savings!

      • Jen

Hi Denise, Can you please clarify the total savings category? I mainly shop at ShopRite. With the SR receipts, there are 4 different categories under the SR Savings. Is the total savings, the first category that says Total On Sale Savings or Total Savings Today or the PPC and MFR Coupons. I would like to get an accurate total for 2015. Thank you!

        • Megan Livesey

Hi Jen! The total savings category on the sheet will already include your PPC Savings and you can enter your MFR coupons, eCoupons etc in the coupons used category!

  • Margaret Cole

    Thank you so much

  • Ida Conley

I need to get things together and start using coupons on a regular basis. Plus I also need to make sure I use the coupons when the items are on sale.

    • Rocky

And, if u hover over the Find My Store tab, up on the toolbar, and click on the store/s you frequent the most, you can see all the best deals daily, and, weekly. That will help you know the best deals that go along with the sales in your area, and, the coupons you have, or, should watch out for! Good luck, Ida!!!

  • Dawn H Busby

I absolutely LOVEEEEE this website! Thank you for all your hard work you put into Living rich with coupons.

  • Cindy

I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. It isn’t figuring percent saved at all. And the total before coupons is less than my total after coupons.

    • Denise Uzunis

Are you entering all of your data into the orange area?

  • Cindy

So, I’m new and trying to understand. I’m entering a receipt. I get total and usually receipts give a “total saved” on it…so I get that. Where I’m confused is on recording ECBs. So, if I record what CVS says is “trip summary saved” then I am recording the ecbs used and ecbs gained at the end is that correct? I guess I wasn’t sure if CVS was counting the “new” ecb or not…so wasn’t sure if I was taking credit for it correctly on the excel sheet.

    • Denise Uzunis

Yes the total amount saved includes any coupons that you use, so at that point an ecb would be considered a coupon

      • Cindy

So I’m concerned its counting twice on excel. I’m entering total savings as is stated on receipt then Ecb received. Am I doing it correct or should I not list as received at end of line since its in total savings? Maybe in over thinking this lol

        • Denise Uzunis

You are not over thinking it, don’t worry, we are always here to help, if you are including the ECB that you used with your coupon total then it will count twice, if you are not, then you shouldn’t have any problems

  • Lisa M Ouellette

Is this savings tracker still useable? When I click on the link it is completely blank except for the LOGO. Cannot someone help or is is no longer available? Thank you

    • Laura D.

After you download it, you are seeing the “Welcome” page. Look at the very bottom, you will notice tabs labeled Welcome, Instructions, January, February, etc. Click on the Instructions tab and it will explain how to use the tracker. Hope this helps. I have a pic below, look at the tabs at the very bottom.

  • Stan Austin

Although I’ve been couponing for several years now, I just completed my first year of using this tracker. For my wife, daughter, and myself, we try to stick to a monthly budget of $200 for all things grocery. In 2015, we spent $2,390.68 for $7,822.37 worth of groceries – that’s a saving of 69.46%! Thanks to Cindy and team for helping us save money and live rich in other ways!

    • Wow! That is awesome. Congratulations to an amazing year of savings. Makes my heart so happy to hear that.

  • Amanda

If I’m shopping the Kroger Mega Sale, do I count “VIP Card Savings” as coupons used?

  • Heather

Great Spreadsheet! I changed it a bit to factor in rebates received from apps like Ibotta and Checkout 51 to reflect the true % Savings

  • Mary Carroll

I’m just starting to use this…. I’m not great with spreadsheets…. what do I do in January? Just start a different one, or write over the previous year?

    • eggs

I would start a new one, that way you can always look over your previous years savings and see how much better you do as you learn more 🙂

  • Laurie Lyon

I just downloaded this and I think it will really be great to keep track of the spending and saving. I was talking to my husband the other day and told him i wondered how much I have really saved us in a years time with all the couponing and deal watching. I’m anxious to try this out and see how much. I think this will be really easy to use. Thank you!
