Digiorno Rising Crust, Thin Crust, Flatbread, Garlic Bread, or Half & Half Pizza’s – $5.00

I see the Digiorno’s on the last page of the circular and they show 2/$9 I see them in the above deal listed as $5 each and wasnt sure if this is going to make you short on the amount spent?

Is this something new? I just did last week the Stayfree deal, i think it was something like buy 4 and get $3 instant savings. I used 4/$1 and got each of the packages for .05 each (.20 total) and I didnt have any problems with the $3 coming off???

Elaine, did she use all the coupons at the end or throughout the entire order?

Sometimes switching locations helps,
the ad doesn’t say after coupons or discounts like it usually does, but it’s usually fight if you try to get it that way. Some People don’t mind the fight for the extra money. $7 might be worth it ;)

Just thought I would share that I did the $7 off $20 this past weekend at Stop & Shop in Piscataway. I did use coupons and my total after coupons was less than $20. I checked my reciept after checking out and I DID NOT recieve the $7 off. I decided to inquire at customer service since the deal didn’t say “after savings” like it does sometimes. The manager was very nice, but said that she had never really read any of the deals to see if they had different wording. I explained that it was confusing as it sometimes does and sometimes doesn’t. She was very nice and ended up giving me the $7 because it was ambiguous. So it DOES pay to ask!

As an aside I have also noted that this Stop & Shop has been giving you cash instead of refunding money on your reciept for items that ring up wrong or coupons that won’t scan. This is fine with me since I pay cash normally, but can see where it would be annoying for someone who uses another form of payment.

I noticed too that Cindy listed the $20 after coupons…I haven’t had a problem (so far) reaching the $XX minimum BEFORE coupons, and still getting the instant savings…even though my coupons bring the total down to less than the prescribed minimum. Maybe I have a good Stop and Shop? What are other people’s experiences with coupons and instant savings?

Reply

Denise January 28, 2012 at 4:50 pm

I had the same issue. The $20 had to be after coupons. Still not a bad deal. All in all, i got $90 worth of stuff for $32!!

FYI…..You should all be on the look out for Stop and Shop coupons in your mail….I’m not sure it they were sent to me because they are opening up another S&S on Staten Island (where I live) but be on the look out just in case it has coupons to get FREE items the coupons are for certain weeks like this week I get $5/$30 and a FREE Breyers Ice Cream (48 oz. carton)……HTH

I think if you have a produce item or somethig else you are not using a coupon on the instant savings has something to attach to. This works for me. I think in whole or in part because S&S register systems are a bit different to say the least. My extras are always produce, at least 2 items just in case. HTH.

I had a problem today with the instant savings… bought $16 worth of Muir glen (only $15 required) but instant savings of $5 didn’t come off. I had coupons for each of the items I purchased. Customer service did give me back the $5 but that was after a long discussion of her explaining its supposed to be $15 out of my pocket, not after coupons (even though that’s not what the circular says).

I am new to these $ off deals. Can I just buy 4 Di giorno’s pizzas for 20$ and get 7$ off? I also have 4 x 2$ Digiorno coupons from way back in Octoer that expire on the 31st. Can I use these and get 4 pizzas for 5$?

Reply

Gina January 27, 2012 at 8:04 am

That sounds to me as if that should work – just keep the first comment from Elaine in mind: “I see the Digiorno’s on the last page of the circular and they show 2/$9″. That could mess with your $20 total. So maybe add another item just to be sure. Great deal if it works. Good luck!

Reply

Laura A February 1, 2012 at 11:29 am

I tried this and it didn’t work. went to CS and asked if I did it right and she gave me 7$ cash on the spot. Tried the deal again and it didn’t work again. I think the amount is 30$ not twenty. but CSM was great and said keep the money for the aggravation. I would really just like a bunch of pizzas though too. any thoughts on how to make this work without having them void my transactions until it does?

Reply

Cindy January 27, 2012 at 8:35 am

Your may need more items to get your total over the $20 after coupon deductions. Some readers don’t have any issues using the deals before coupons, other do, and most of the time the ad states after all coupons and discounts.

If the Pizza’s are priced out at $4.50 each your pre coupon total would only be $18.

Reply

Ana January 27, 2012 at 12:52 pm

Oh sorry for all the trouble. I checked my add (usually I just read your matchup) and I don’t see the 7$ instant savings after 20 promotion. Just 5 off 15 for personal care items and gas points. I live in MA… But now I’ll pay more attention since these kinds of promotions seem such a great deal! Thank you!

loretta January 27, 2012 at 1:08 pm

hi i try to do a saving trip in walgreens but it didnt work. i went to buy some stayfree pads which are on sale for 1.99 each. and i have 2 coupons of buy one get one free, i purchased 4 thinking i was goin to get 2 free but the register didnt want to accept the coupons. the manufacture coupons donr exp. till 2/15/2012 and it says on any stayfree product. the only thing it says “cashier write in retail value maximum value 4.49. now i want to know what did i do wrong??

Reply

Val January 27, 2012 at 11:27 pm

Their machines probably haven’t been updated to accept the new coupon barcodes

Reply

Ana January 27, 2012 at 11:35 pm

You didn’t do anything wrong. I don’t shop at Walgreens no matter how great the weekly match up might be. I don’t even look at it.

Most of the cashiers are rude and uninformed. The managers are the same way. They often refuse to adjust down coupons. They have a ridiculously complicated coupon policy (you cannot use registered rewards you got from one brand on the same brand or you will not get the associated registered reward associated with the second purchase…).

It is their corporate policy to discourage coupon usage. In fact if you try calling customer service they are just as unhelpful and will say “it’s up to the store. So they basically pass the ball around.

Contrast that with CVS. I only had 1 negative experience total at CVS and wrote an e-mail from my extra care account. I got a long e-mail from corporate and a personal phone call apologizing and assuring me they would speak with the local office and have that store retrained for coupon usage etc.

My rite aid also has not updated their registers for the new barcodes but they enter them manually anyways. Walgreens just isn’t worth the effort and headache for me.

Reply

Tina February 1, 2012 at 8:59 am

I totally agree with you about Walgreens. I used to shop there frequently until the cashiers and managers started getting an attitude about the coupons and tagging the merchandise. Most of the cashiers have NO idea what is on sale, what the RR are, etc. By the time the manager comes up to the register, i’ve been holding up the line already.

CVS is usually never a problem. My only problem I have with them is the tagging of sales so i have to bring the item to the machine to check the prices (which isnt so bad) or the fact they sold out — not their fault, i should coupon quicker! :)

I dont even bother looking at Walgreens no matter how great the deal . Couponing helps you narrow down stores!

If anyone still has the $3/3 nabisco coupon that expires today I think the 3 for $6 nabisco deal is a great deal(must buy 3). After coupon it’s 1.00 a box. I did this today with Ritz, Triscuit, and Wheat Thins. The coupon is good for any Nabisco I think, not just what’s pictured because it scanned (self checkout, no beep!). But it expires today!

So I said it doesn’t sAy that in the ad. And besides the store gets reimbursed for the coupons don’t they? She huffed and puffed and gave me the money in cash. Always an issue there—–when you do a deal like this know a fight is coming! I also had about 10.00 in produce in my order

The friendship cottage cheese coupon of 55c is for a larger size. It scanned fine for the smaller product but this coupon will not double for any size. When it didn’t scan I pointed it out to cashier and she noticed that the coupon mentioned do not double. I just removed those items but with the new barcodes many more coupons will not double as the manufacturers are able to code more information in these kinds of coupons.

On a better note some of the bigger size crackers were included in the 3 for 6

In my store, the nabisco crackers are 3/$6 wyb 3. AND, they have $1/2 peelies on them. So, I got 6 boxes today and used three of the peelies. Additionally, there are tear pads over in the soda aisle, save $1.50 wyb a 8pk of 7.5 oz coke cans and a box of nabisco crackers. The 6 boxes of crackers adn 6 8pk cans cost ,e $26 and change with tax and deposit, and I saved over $21. Wasn’t too bad.

Went to stop and shop and the lactose free was not included in the sale for yogurt, oh well still not bad for lactaid yogurt. While I was there I noticed in the shampoo aisle that herbal essence shampoo and conditioner was clearanced for $1.87 a bottle, and I had a coupon for herbal essence that expires at the end of this month so I was able to get each bottle for .87 cents! Not a bad trip!

So… I went to S&S in Union today to try to pull off the following “Spend $20, get $7 back” deal.

4 DiGiornos @ $4.50 each (Two $2/2 coupons)
2 Ragu sauces @ $1.66 each (One $1/2 coupon)

Pre-coupon, my total would have been $21.32. Since I know the system well enough and was using self-checkout, I decided to, after scanning my items, click “Finish and Pay” and see what happens.

BOOM! Total goes down to $14.32.

Then, I hit “Go Back and Scan More Items”.

My total was $14.32 still.

I scan the first $2/2 DiGiorno coupon and my total hopped back up to $19.32 (The $7 bonus came off and then less $2 for the coupon). Finished scanning the rest of my coupons and got the total to $16.32.

Paid it and went to Customer Service. Dude explained to me that they added these rules because, as expected, a lot of people were coming and getting dirt cheap stuff. He told me I would qualify if I got another DiGiornos.

So now:

5 DiGiornos @ $4.50 each = $22.50
+ 2 Ragu bottles @ $1.66 = $3.32
- $5 in coupons = $20.82
- $7 savings
$13.82 total

I’m going to go back in a few days and return the Ragu (I have more than enough pasta ), so my savings will be rounded a bit better (Love the DiGiornos at under $3 a box).

Just wanted to warn anyone looking to try something similar that everything is post-coupon.

Reply

Ana January 28, 2012 at 1:58 pm

Thanks for letting us know!

What does it matter to them if we are getting stuff dirt cheap? They still get their money back plus 8c. Why don’t they consider coupons money? It’s what they are!

I did the shaws deals. 6$ for 2 Pizzas and 1 free Eddy’s ice cream in case someone else is still looking to use those 2$ coupons.

Tell me about it! I am in Mass as well and I have 5 stop and shop with 2 more opening next month.

I can even use printable coupons in the any longer; by the way they have never doubled in my city or neighboring cities which gives me about 8 more stores.

I guess they can get away with since thee is a S&S in literally each block.

Reply

Abgail January 29, 2012 at 9:09 am

Can I spell/write or what?

I meant to say. I can’t use printable coupons. And I have 5 stores in my city with 2 more opening next month.

One thing though they never give me a hard time on the recyclebank coupons which my city trash collection takes part in. Bj’s and other stores are horriable about including RiteAid but I don’t shop there bc they well suck, I have 3 of those but just as many walgreens and CVS.

Reply

Ana January 29, 2012 at 12:07 pm

At S&S (south shore locations) I have only recently started using coupons. They accept them without much trouble but I have not really tried much. Shaws on the other hand has much better customer service so I prefer to shop there. If a promotion or coupon gets messed up customer service fixes it right up for you. You can also contact them on their facebook and usually they get back to you (on their wall).

Employees at BJ’s just don’t know the coupon policy AT ALL but I usually stand my ground, am nice and just ask them to go check with the manager and then the STORE manager. That always gets them through.

CVS and RiteAid really depends by town/location. Just drive over to a rich town and you have no issues whatsoever! CVS has superb customer service. I wrote an e-mail about a rude manager who didn’t know the coupon policy at all. I got a personal call back and a long e-mail and they’ll follow it up at the local corporate office. So if they give you trouble at CVS just have them call corporate right there with you or contact them later yourself. I’m pretty new to couponing but I’ve learned it can be pretty frustrating some times.

Cheers!

Maybe if people didn’t return things three days later that they bought to “get a deal” the stores wouldn’t be so tough…I know of people that bought diapers, etc. just for cats and return the products a week later. Technically, I think that can be considered theft if you are getting the full price back.

Reply

Anonym January 29, 2012 at 8:29 pm

I second this, it crosses a fine line between getting a good deal and cheating

Reply

anonymous January 30, 2012 at 4:45 pm

Maybe if fewer people returned items that they only purchased to get the discounts the stores would be alot more lenient in their policies. Someone I know very well does this constantly. She will purchase products (ie diapers that she doesn’t need) keep the catalinas and then return the items after the sale for full price. From where I come from that would be called theft and along with the shelf emptiers give all other couponers a bad name. Buy what you need and don’t be selfish!!!

Reply

Ana January 30, 2012 at 4:59 pm

No one suggested we do this over here, or that the stores need be more lenient. The problem here is that the store needs to advertise this better, i.e state in the add that total 20$ must be after coupons. The reason stated for doing this (to which I objected above) is that people are getting things for dirt cheap by using coupons. Well since coupons are money for the store I don’t see a problem there.

In addition, this is money directly off on your receipts. I have never done these sort of deals at S&S but at other stores the $ off will come off as a percentage of every items so you cannot return it for full price. If that isn’t the case at S&S, the receipt will also clearly show 7$ off so customer service should be able to deny that sort of return….

Morgan January 30, 2012 at 9:28 pm

Does anyone know how much they are at stop and shop. I have a few computers I could print from and since the coupon is 2.00 I should be ae to use more then 4 although they are Internet printed but I usually don’t have problem with limit of Internet coupons at self checkout. If someone knows price that would be great before I take trip there. Not sure if it’s netter to just get at target where it will be .99 cents…. Thanks in advance!

They are on sale for 2 for $6.00. So for $1 each, it would definitely be a good deal. As i mentioned above, the $20 spending is taking into consideration after all of the coupons are deducted – at my stop and shop, anyway.

Best of luck!

I used the Scan-It for the first time today. It has a coupon on it for .50 cents off Nabisco (it shows a picture of Ritz crackers but based on how it rung up on my receipt I think you could buy any Nabisco cracker). Now, I don’t know if everyone gets this coupon or if it’s customer specific. But it meant that I was able to just buy 3 boxes of nabisco crackers (using the .50 cents Scan-It and a $1/2) to reach $1.50 a box instead of having to buy 6 boxes (using 3 $1/2 coupons) to reach that same price.

Just wanted to let you know I purchased from the Morris Plains, NJ store:

6 – DiGiorno Pizza ($4.50 each) = $27.00
-$7 Instant Savings
3 – $3/2 Peelie (found on the bottom freezer door on the end cap by the meats)
Total $11.00 ($1.83 each)

Now I did self checkout and the coupon did beep, saying this coupon is not allowed. However the man running the SCO area, just manually entered them all. I did a 2nd transaction, right after that, he again just entered them for me.
