Yes! One is a store coupon and one is a manu coupon. They are allowed to be “stacked” for one product. Wags is always the most confusing.

I went to Walgreens and purchased this toothpaste as well as a few other items.
And while I was there last week I noticed they charged me wrong for the Luster White toothpaste they had on sale for $4.99 last week, I was charged $5.99. So after my purchase yesterday I showed my receipt and last weeks ad and told the manager I was charged wrong….he said “are you sure you bought it on the date of the sale? ” Ummm, yes you can clearly see on the receipt I bought it on April 7th….. so he diggs in his pocket and threw a dollar at me, and mumbled something.
I was kinda embarrassed, maybe I was being petty over a $1. I don’t think I’ll be going back to that walgreens.
Glad to see I am not the only one who has issues at Walgreens. I never know when I have too many fillers, or when I need more…I usually avoid Walgreens unless the deals/sales are really good.
I have about 4 Walgreens in my area but choose to go to the smallest store. The usually always have what’s in stock and recently had some awesome clearance. Clairol hair dye for $1.99 and the foam for $2.99. I used coupons for both and got them free. Went back yesterday with the new $5 off 2 Clairol and got 4 more. It was a $2 money maker. The cashiers are really good with coupons and they have “fillers” next to the register (cheap candies). The cashier yesterday even gave me a $.50 cent off coupon for the Pepsi that was $.99 with a $.99 RR so that was also a $.50 MM.
I would definitely contact corporate for that issue. I think they would be appalled that their managers were acting that way!
I’m sorry that happened to you. I think you were right in asking for them to correct their mistake, and very petty of the manager to throw a dollar at you. Maybe if you call Walgreens to make a complaint about him, he will probably be very nice to you next time!
It happened to me some time ago when the store manager asked to “hold” my shopping cart because he thought I did not pay for it. I said there was receipt in the bags. He found it and did not even apologized. I called corporation, they said sorry and that was that. Since then, I only go to Wag. if, and only if, the sale is extremely good…I would rather pay a little more some where else…

My experience at various Walgreens where I live has been really positive. I think the problem might be the store manager’s attitude towards coupons. Don’t give up, just find a friendly store.
I also have positive shopping trips to my local Walgreens. It is the only one in the area so I’m glad they make it easy. The staff is always friendly and all of the managers do everything they can to make your shopping experience great! I live in Chester County, PA.
I have always had terrible experiences at Walgreens. Sometimes I might get a nice cashier, then other times I don’t.
A coupon of weeks ago this cashier argued with me that she could not let me buy Carefree liners for $0.99 because the coupon was for $1 and that meant I was getting it for free. Then she was frustrated that the register kept beeping. I told her you have to adjust the coupon down. She said “oh , no I’m not allowed to adjust anything because we don’t make money if you get this for free”. Then my “teach the cashiers their own store policy lesson” began….

Are you from NY? if so we usually have higher prices and much less deals. I also bought it today for 2.79 minus 2.00 in Qs so $1.04 is not so good for couponers but I got it for my kids only cause of new tube
I was at Walgreens today getting the allergy medicine that is a MM after coupons and rewards. The reward machine jammed and did not print out my rewards. Then the manager said that manufacturer coupons are not allowed to be used on an item that generates a reward. And if one prints out, it is because of a glitch in the system. WTH is up with these managers???? I have never heard of such a thing before!
Tell them to take a look at their own circular! It always shows a manufacturer’s coupon and a register reward and then the final price. It’s funny how we are more aware of the ad than they are!
I wish everone had a Walgreens like mine near them. Every employee and every member of managment has always been so great to me. They offer help, they talk to you, they donot look down on your for using stupid amount of coupons. Infact, I have called and written about the store near me to Walgreen corporate offices. A bit over a year ago my Dad passed away. I was left in charge of creating pitcture boards of his life for the funeral. I DO NOT do technology beyond e mail or printing a Q!!! LOL. I could not get anything to work for me that day when trying to print pics. The older gentle man behind the photo counter helped me for 3 HOURS to get everything PERFECT. I was tired, sad and at one point the tears started flowing!! He kept his composure and offered me a seat and between him, and my sister on the phone…they got everything to print in such amazing color. Even old pics came out great. Now when you have a small store with a woman crying for three hours you tend to attract some attention. I HATE attention. LOL. Every employee there that night was so comforting and assured me that they would do everything it took to help me get my pics ready. 6 months laters I started couponing….my first trip in there I was confused and unsure how coupons worked. Once again, they helped me and walked me through how to use the coupons correctly. That Walgreens has made a life long customer of me. I cant say what Walgreens it was, because that night of the picture issues….they broke the rules and when the store closed down for the night they allowed me to stay and I kept them all there 30 minutes over their go home time. I really wish every store was like this. Walgreens would have soooooo many customers for life if they all were as good as these guys
All my Walgreens have been getting new systems and new managers… When something goes wrong they try to explain to me a different way!! I know the policies and how to handle every transaction!! Staff is friendly and helpful though.. I got 7 tubes of aqua fresh kids toothpaste 4 free!!! They had about 50 of them a display actually!!! (:
Let’s all be honest and realize that there are “good” Walgreens, and, “Not so good Walgreens”. I live in the greater Boston area, and have had many, many problems with my local Boston store (rudeness is the biggest problem), but as I go into the suburbs with slightly larger stores, I encounter a wonderful set of people. Let’s all keep an open mind, and hope the local store you are working with is keeping you and your coupons, and most importantly, you, at the front of their mind. If, you, as a returning customer, feel that you have been slighted, please talk to the store manager.
This will be my first time doing a Walgreen’s deal do I get the April coupon book right in the store? Do they have a rewards card? I did sign up for their newsletter online.
No rewards card. Coupon book should be at the front of the store next to the store ad. I don’t know about the newsletter…
FYI – This morning I realized that the printable coupon isn’t actually for the item on sale. The printable is for the Fresh and Fruity toothpaste not the one pictured. At my store, fresh and fruity was $2.79 – so .79 after coupons.
i purchased the Fresh & Fruity this morning and it rang up at $2 but there was no sale sign. do a price check to make sure.
Hmmm. Interesting. There was a sign under it that said $2.79 minus $1 in store coupon, so I assumed that was the price. I’ll have to try again. Thanks.
