I had a major problem at my Stop & Shop with the Kashi and Scott deals. I purchased 6 Kashi products and the cashier refused my $2 coupons from recycle bank stating if I want the $5 catalina I have to spend $15 OOP after coupons. I paid $16 because I had 4 cookies $2.50 each and 2 granola bars $3 dollars each. Catalina did not print. I been told that the cookie package does not match the picture although the description at the circular did match the cookies and the sign on the shelf stated catalina will print where the cookies were located. I had to bring the cashier and show her the shelf tag. What was the worst part is that she had the attitude like why don’t I accept that catalina would not print and that I must be doing something wrong with this purchase because other wise it would print out. The same problem was with Scott paper towels and toilet paper. I was NOT ALLOWED to use any coupons. I had 2 transactions with 3 different Scott paper products. The $5 & $2 Cat printed from the machine but I was not allowed to roll it towards the other transaction to bring the price OOP down. So at the end I overspend OOP because of not being allowed to use ANYcoupons or catalinas. I also got yelled at that I was slowing the line and giving hard time to the cashier. I am still traumatized by this experience. I have never ever experienced problem like this in my life. Did anyone had the same problem where the store would not let you use any coupons or catalinas????
That’s absurd … If the cat prints after coupons the cashier should not be manually altering or prohibiting that. I’d tell them to scan my coupons and then if it prints, its yours… I do think u should be going back to do several transactions instead of holding up a line for 3-4 transactions
I was there at 9:30PM and store was empty. Just by the end of my 3rd transaction there was a customer that came behind me and I appologized to her. Only ONE cash register was opened.
Store refused my coupons and cats because they said the circular said total has to be $15+ for Kashi and $15 + for Scott paper promotions. I paid $15+ for 1st transaction, $15+ for the nd, and $15+ for rd. Following day I ended up returning the products back to the store but first I called the corporate office and also spoke to the store manager. They appologized but that does not change the fact that the store employess were talking down to me or rolling their eyes if I, the customer questioned in a nice way the reason for coupons + cats being refused and given the above explanation.
I didn’t buy any other items besides the Scott towels and toilet paper. From past comments, I was advised not to buy the Scott Naturals tubefree toilet paper. I did use self checkout for my transactions. All manufacturer coupons scanned through with no problem. I did have trouble with using a $2 OYNP catalina from the Coffeemate deal in the first transaction. I called for help and the cashier gave me $2. On the next transaction, I was able to use the $5 catalina but not the $2 catalina. In the end, I have 1 $5 catalina and a bunch of $2 catalinas to use on produce, meat, etc. It seems that they knew about the details of the deal (working on shelf price, which catalinas to roll). They were super nice and encouraging it because it increases their revenue and moves their inventory.
In my opinion, your cashier was unprofessional. No shopper should go through what you experienced. I also work in the retail industry and never do I berate a valued customer.
Sorry to hear about your awful experience.. Most of the time couponing is fun, exciting and grand but yes there will be times when it just does not work out the way you want it to due to the cashier or/and the store you are doing it at.. I did the scott deal but was not allowed to roll the 2 dollar cat.. She told me because I had use the scott 99 cent coupon that I can’t use the scott 99 cent catalina.. which is ridiculous because the 2 dollar cat was not suppose to be exclusively for a scott product.. And they did not want to manually put in in. This is the only time where I had a cat problem but I can’t be mad.. still had a great deal gettting 5 (12) pack of tissues and 5 (6) pack of towel for $20.32 and still have 11 cats for next time.. I hope next time works better for you..
Whoops, ment I could not use the scott 2 dollar catalina not 99 cent one.. no such thing as a 99 catalina ou there.. you see all this has gotten to my head lol
I had the same thing,I only got the $2 From Scott but no stop and shop $5,and they told me because I used coupons. And than the cashier did n`t took my coupon for the bogo hot dog deal,1/2 hot dogs.I had to go to customer service and ask them to take my coupons, because according to the cashier you can not use any coupon on a bogo deal.Since when. She gave me an attitude like i`m stealing or something.I returned the toilette paper, and not sure i will ever go back to that store again.
I did not do this deal at Stop & Shop but I did do the catalina deal at Shoprite; however, my $.99/1 coupons did not double!!! I have used them before at Shoprite and they doubled with no problem so I don’t know what could have happened? Any suggestions about what to do when this happens and you did not realize until after check-out? I did not realize until I got home and by then the coupon is gone in the register drawer so I don’t know how it would be handled at customer service.
the coupons say “DO NOT DOUBLE”. the cashiers at my SR have been reading the wording on every single coupon and hitting the DND button. i called corporate and they said they are not required to double coupons that say DO NOT DOUBLE regardless of whether the barcode starts with a 5 or 9. i guess they’re getting strict!
At my store, I did the Kashi deal and the Catalina didn’t print out. I went to customer service and the clerk gave me $5. She said it didn’t print out because I used a coupon (one of the granola bars had a coupon peelie for a free box of cereal.) However, since the total sale was already $16 before that coupon, and also because the promotion doesn’t say that you can’t use coupons, she just gave me the $5.
My shop and stop would not give me the $5.00 cat on the Kashi cookies (I bought 6 and used (6) 2.00 coupons) because my coupons brought my total down under $15.00. I also did not get the $3.00 instant savings on the wipes. Customer Service told me it was because I used coupons. They did give me the difference (1.96) back in cash that I paid. (1.99 x 4 – 6.00)
Confirmed the Scott’s natural tube free tp does not work for the $5 cat. I purchased the naturals tube free tp and regular pt and did not get the $5 cat just the $2 cat. So if you are doing this deal tonight definitely do not purchase the tube free tp. From my subsequent transactions I learned you can combine the the Naturals tube free pt with the extra soft tp or regular tp. This combination produces both the 5 cat and 2 cat. My .99 cent coupons did double and I was able to roll the 5 cat not the 2 cat as reported by other readers. Good luck!
I purchased the Naturals tube free TP and 2 of the flusable wipes (the Teaneck S&S did not have any of the papertowels left). I used 2 $.99 coupons (which did double). I received both catalinas, too.
Scott deal didn’t work for me at the Peeksill or Cortlandt in NY…
Erika
Can you share what store location you had issues with? I had issues similar to yours at my S&S and got them corrected by the store manager.
Stop & Shop in Whiting NJ
BTW I did the Scott Naturals tubefree 5 times today at my store ( different times) and got BOTH CATS each time. I have read this was corrected. It had not worked for me before, but did today.
I did the Scott’s Deal 6x this week and got the $5 and $2 Cat each time. I bought a combo of the regular and natural tp and each time bought the 6-pk of towels. I had some problems with the $.99 coupon (never wanted to scan and they didn’t double it 1 time because they said the coupon read DND). My home and church now have a stockpile of tp and pt’s thanks to LRWC
It really seems that the results varied from store to store. I had no problems get both the $5 and $2 cats at the S&S in Hopewell, NY. My total was $8.02 after coupons. They only issue was rolling the $2 cat, They allowed, but put it thru as cash. I went back today and did the deal 2x more times. This time I did add a $2 item for the $2 cat to attach to.
I used the .99 coupons and they did double. (Which the New Milford, CT store refused to do.)
And I was even able to get the tube free TP and the cats printed.
I wish all stores were consisant with the same policies.
I purchased tube free (4) 4 packs, and one of the 12 scott tissue, and I got 2 (5.00 cats) and 2 ($2.00) cats. The cashier was like you got for free, she was nice. I have 2 coupons back, but they may be out of the naturals tissue!
I bought both the bath tissue and the paper towels and got the $2 cat but not the $5. Have to go back tonight to find out why. didnt have time last night
sent my husband to buy 5-6 boxes of kashi cookies/crackers. the cashier said after scanning 2 coupons that no more would go through. so he separated them and charged him for each one separately, which meant no $5 off. they came to $0.50 each which is ok. I ended up phoning and talking to the manager, and he said its because the coupon said per purchase, i explained what a “purchase” meant and he said oh ok, you can come by and pick up a $5 gift card or cash next time you’re in
I’m cool with that!
I did the Stop & Shop deal tonight in my Chicopee, Ma store … sort of. My store ran out of the TP, so I figured I would just stock up on paper towels instead. But I only had 2 coupons for towels at $1 each, not 3, or the $.99 coupons. Since I had to buy 3 to meet the $15 purchase requirement, here is what I did:
(3) Scott Natural Paper Towels (6pk) – $4.99ea (shelf price $6.85)
- (2) $1/1 Scott Towels
=$12.97 (+tax)
used $4 CAT from previous purchase
=$8.97 + $5 CAT (Stop & Shop)
However, I did not get the $3 CAT from Scott for purchasing 3 Scott products. Little disappointed in that one, and can’t quite figure out why, unless of course my store wasn’t going by shelf price. But $3.97 (or $1.32ea) for 18 rolls of paper towels is still not too shabby of a deal I’m thinking!
In order to get the catalina from Scott, I think you needed to buy different items. You bought all papertowels…you would have had to buy at least one different item, like TP or the flushable wipes. HTH.
Aha! I knew there was something I was missing. Thanks! But I still can’t complain about the deal I did get.
I think you have to buy one from each category of TP, paper towels and wipes to get the $3 cat. So buying 3 from just one category does not quailfy. Sorry.
Thanks so much for this lwrc!!! I have enough toilet paper and paper towels to last me till winter!
Does anyone know how to contact cataling marketing?
My $5.00 catalina printed but the $2.00 did not.
Can someone tell me how to contact catalina??
