ShopRite: Catalina & Gift Card Updates
Reader Maria has some great updates that she left in the comments of the ShopRite Match Ups. One important one is that the Natural Instincts is not tracking at all on the Gift Card Deal (although it seems like nothing may be tracking just yet). The product is listed on the Product List for the deal as well as having a “Free $25″ icon in the circular so I’m not sure why it’s not working. However, I wanted to make you all aware of that.

UPDATE: For the Loreal Kids shampoo, you CAN run it in multiples and multiple catalinas WILL print. For the Natural Instincts, you have to run it in 2′s. Multiple catalinas WILL NOT print out. Also, there was no running total at the bottom of my receipt for the GC deal. I ran the 6 transactions and nothing said I qualified either.

Yea I’m waiting 24 hours to see what happens. I called CS and they said it was too early to see my receipts. They said that if I bought the correct item, there should be no reason it shouldn’t track. I’m following up tomorrow…I’ll let you know

Had the same problem with the gift card deal, kinda had a feeling I would after having problems with last weeks Cat deal. Went to customer service, they said what I bought qualified for the gift card, and somebody will be calling me later. Ugh…
had the same issue with the running total. called customer service. they have no idea why it’s not tracking. i’m supposed to get a call back :-/

It means you can buy 4 of the Loreal kids shampoo and 2 $1 catalinas will print out. If you do this just remember the shampoo has a limit of “4 per variety” meaning if you buy 6 of one variety it will trigger the higher price for the last 2. HTH!

Just a heads up – someone just reported on the SR match ups that it did not work for them while it did work for others. I purchased them 2 at a time this morning along with the hair color deal. So, personally I have not tested it.

Went this morning, bought my 75 and also had no total on the bottom. The customer service said they were having problems with the system save the receipt and it should be up within 24 hrs. I also got last weeks prices on certain items that weren’t supposed to be on sale this week, very odd. Also broke 4 crunchy nut cereals in two transactions, two boxes in each and both triggered the .70 e coupon, very strange…

Yes, only 1 cat will print out per transaction. I tried buying 4 and only got 1 cat with the natural instincts. The cat will roll also, however it does print after the register is closed.
was in the Wallingford Ct store this morning. Nothing printed on my slip, had 3 employees checking for me and told me it was showing zero. They took my
totals and phone number. They told me if I do not hear, let them know and they will make sure I get my credit

Mine did not track either. The manager pulled up my account on her computer and it showed how much I had spent and said $0 for the gc deal. She had no clue why and said the regional manager would look into it. Very strange. I am going to call corporate tomorrow.

I went this morning and the same problem EXCEPT there was a woman who was working there who started to help the woman who was helping me…and treated me like a FLAT OUT CRIMINAL. She said it had to do with the $6 OYNO coupon blah blah blah, then she said it had to do with the $5/2 coupon (both not true)…then she said it was because I was rolling over the $6 OYNO coupon. She had no clue what she was talking about other than making me feel totally humiliated in front of other customers. She required that all of my receipts get photocopied to “look into my card and my actions further”. When I asked her what she meant she wouldn’t tell me. I left with no resolution, and all I felt was guilt and anger that I left my hubby home on Father’s Day morning with our 8 year old, 4 year old and 7 week old. Corporate will be hearing from me tomorrow!!

Ditto on Manchester this morning… felt like I had done something wrong by shopping in their store this morning. They make you feel like couponers are not welcomed customers… or even customers!
I’ve always had bad experiences there. I love the East Hartford/Glastonbury one better.
I’ll definitely try the EH – been to the WH and they seemed nice. Manchester is closer so that’s why I shop there – definitely not because of their sweet dispositions and customer service desk. Any one have success in either store location with multiple transactions? It seems like a foreign phrase there. I thought there might be a better time of day to shop at Manchester?
I have not tried multiple transactions right away after another transaction. I usually would send my husband to go a few times during the week. It’s easier for him to go because it’s on his way from work, I live in Hebron. Actually just thinking about it, my husband did 2 transactions right after each other a few weeks ago at the self check out, but not with a cashier. If you are concerned about doing it at the registers, if the transactions are small, just do them at self check.
I do multiple transactions at the Manchester store a lot. One right after the other. I will say I definitely cashier profile however – many of the non teenager woman get SO upset by even 1 IP, let alone 4 like ones. As far as customer service – I’ve been made to feel like a criminal every time I’ve had to go over there so if something doesn’t work I simply return it. I’ve had nothing but fights otherwise.
My friend shops at the East Hartford, CT store and she loves it.
I shop at the Southington, CT store and they are very helpful and lovely people. They have no problem with couponers who understand the store policies and do not use them incorrectly.
Sara – don’t feel bad! I can totally relate to this – it just makes my blood boil when people at the cs are ignorant, yet try to make us feel like we are, or , worse yet, criminal! Just make sure you convey all the details to the corporate, and enjoy the Father’s day with your family!
I kept my cool, but inside I just wanted to cry. She couldn’t even make eye contact!! I even adhered to the “4 like coupons per household per day” coupon rule that Manchester CT has started to enforce, because I play by the rules!! Ugh
I just want to say I sympathize with you. Don’t feel bad! I have a MS. degree and have been a teacher for 18 years. I have been laid off three years ago and struggling with part time jobs and I cut coupons just to make ends meets as my p/t jobs amount to 1/4 of what I used to earn. You need to stick up for yourself and don’t let them degrade or humiliate you. I had a clerk ask a manager if yogurt was considered a breakfast item for that buy three breakfast items get a free gallon of milk. The manager did not agree with me and I had to tell her how in other cultures yogurt is eaten for breakfast. Have you ever heard of continental breakfasts often served at hotels? Yogurt is definitely on their tables. She gave in and allowed the transaction. Good luck and be brave, they are the ones who are missing out.

I have to ask, Sarah, was the woman who came over to “help” by chance the woman with the short grey hair? I believe her name is Dani and she is the CS manager. I have had numerous conversations with her about the “new store policies” that I’ve been told she is holding the cashiers accountable for– such as refusing manufacturers Qs printed from coupons.com that say “available at” a different store. I have also had a heated discussion with her after calling ahead and having been told over the phone that they would honor a $ off your order competitor’s coupon from Family Dollar. When I was checking out she refused to accept the coupon stating that they are not considered a competitor and that all of the the CS know this, refusing to make eye contact all the while and then finally all but calling me a liar. She has a VERY bad attitude towards couponers and I have noticed over the last several weeks that, as these new unwritten store policies are being put into place, the general attitude of employees who used to be very friendly and helpful is changing and it’s becoming an uncomfortable place to shop. I’m very sorry to hear that this happened to you today but unfortunately I don’t imagine that we are the only ones who have been berated and humiliated in that store. I have considered calling corporate but I’m not clear about how much effect that would even have as I’m told that the store is privately owned.
yes it will make an effect if all of us who had problems called . even if its privately owned , still shoprite name on store and there reputation .
but we all have to call . if they are not happy with coupons thy should say no to all coupons we all know they are not going to do that .
Call 1800 Shoprite and tell them what happened and the should give you 5 bucks for ur trouble
I did 2 transaction of the Natural Instincts and I went to the Customer Service desk to ask why the running total wasn’t printing she scanned my price plus card and told me I only had $14.94 towards the gift card deal. That means my shop rite (Kingston NY) is tracking after price plus and after coupons. I am bummed
Contact customer service. It is CLEARLY stated that it should add up BEFORE coupons (except the doubling part, which these aren’t). You should get the FULL credit!!!
Stephanie, I shopped at the Kingston NY ShopRite around 11am and after one Natural Instincts (that’s 2 boxes) I had $13.98 towards the big brands points. It is very hard to see as it’s mixed in with lots of other text.
It does say before manufacture coupons, but after price plus savings, however mine seemed to work on the $6.99 shelf price.
ya i think thats what happened to me 2! i bought 2 packs of chicken, 4 mac and cheese and goya(i think thats included in deal not sure) and it only gave me $15 towards it! i think cuz of the coupons! err! gotta figure this out!
Also, the haircolor wasn’t all that I had purchased that should’ve triggered the promo—I got wipes, bodywash, cereal etc. It was obvious that the promo wasn’t working, and that was confirmed when the first girl called other stores. The other woman shouldn’t be working in customer service!!
For anyone not getting info on your receipt, save it and track your spending! The ShopRite in East Windsor told me early this morning that the deal hadn’t been activated, and it was some kind of system error.. they said to come back later today or during the week and that they’d give me the giftcard then. I may try to call customer service first and see if they can take care of it over the phone. I also didn’t see a running total on my receipt, but was SURE that I went over $75, and nothing printed out about getting the giftcard.

So glad to see everyone’s posts. Usually I shop on Fridays, but I was so excited about the $75 GC deal, I was going to make a special trip today. I will hold off since it isn’t tracking… If someone sees it start tracking, please let us know!!!
Went this morning and did 5 natural instincts transactions and got my gift card. Previous transactions did not show anything on receipt at all. Them on the 5th it show congratulations. Very happy.
Just came from Shoprite first one no total on bottom. Second Shoprite Bam totals.. It reads your big brand deals with the amount spent.. There are some hair dye on clearence for $ $3.74 if u get the clearence ones u can get 2 hair dye in clearence 4 loreal kids shampoo use $5.00 mq and $5.00 from Catalina pay tax and get back 2 $1.00 for shampoo and 1 $5.00 cat for hair dye…
Just came back from my Shoprite in Parsippany. The total towards the gift card appears on my receipt as “Your Big Brand Points” – it reflected the shelf price of my tyson chicken.
How will they fix this if it is only for this week and some of us already shopped there today? Like if I went next Sunday when the promo ends, re they going to end up honoring my gc because of the error on their part this week?
I just got back from the shoprite on fischer blvd in Toms River…I went early this am to pick up a few of the items included in the gc deal and the items were not tracking so I held onto my reciept(and my breath) and went back to try again w/ my “big order”. They must have gotten the computers in sync w/ the sale because everything went as planned. I went with my reciept from this am and the purchase i had just completed and they added up the total and issued me my GC…and they were very helpful and friendly. the only thing that stinks is that by using my baby bucksthey took $10 off of the 75 I needed to spend, the good news is that the other catalinas I used did not work against the 75. HTH

NAnci I just moved to NJ and my Shoprite store is the same as yours. Questions will they let you use more then 1 cat in a transaction. I was thinking about trying 2 cats at self check out but didnt know if that was going to help me.

For anyone in Northern NJ….I just came back from the Nutley Shoprite and the catalina and tracking were working. I bought Natural Instincts and it printed out the $6.00 catalina and on the bottom of my receipt it shows “Your Big Brands Points: $13.98″.
Went to brick shop rite this am. Got six natural instincts in separate trans and they all tracked just fine giving 6.99 credit for each box (shelf). Also bought Tyson chicken. Up to over 45.00. It’s working in brick!

I read all this comments above and totally agree about what most of the retailers not welcoming couponers . They make you feel stuped in front of other costomers like you are another”coupon lady” or so,what all you buy you dont need it anyway ……Some of employers just ignoring you not even saying hello or goodbye (but everybody knows retail rool to wellcome a customer cs I work at retail myself ), reeding coupons for 5 min each trying to catch anything to make transaction felt, and many other moments that just frustraiting you and making your blood boil ! And my question to Sindy and all you guys HOW WE CAN PROTECT MYSELFS from that rude attitude and in same time staying polite and playing by the rooles without infringing myself ??????????????

I used the $10 off coupon from last week gift card deal and rolled the $6 CAT from each transaction. It tracked for ever transaction on my receipt and I got my $25 gift card!

Went to SR in East Norriton this morning. No problem at all. Tracked and printed on the last receipt to get a gift card. Went to self check out lane and had it put in there. Used 2 of the $10.00 cats from last week towards purchases in 2 separate transactions. Threw in some of the other deals to get it a little over $10.00. Shop Rite in East Norriton is the best. Customer service is excellent!

I did 8 transactions in 3 different Shop Rites this morning and none of them were tracking. I contacted customer service and they told me that I qualified for the card and I should go to the store to pick it up. Let’s just say it was not a pleasant experience at all. Customer service refused to give me the card saying I had no purchases made that qualified for the card. I had my receipts with me and referred to specific items I had purchase including the Natural Instincts, none of which were tracking on my receipt. She very loudly stated that the Natural Instincts is not part of the deal even after having pointed out that it is in both the list and the logo that appears next to the item in the ad. A A customer behind me barges in and lets me know that I am doing it “all wrong” and that none of the items I purchased qualified only because she wanted to be helped immediately. At that point I proceeded to call Shop Rite’s 800 number and they very clearly told her that I did qualify but she still refused to give me the card. In the end, it was determined that Shop Rite failed to write the “fields” on time for this promotion and were not finished until 11 this morning. It was said that whoever qualified for this deal before 11 must wait until tomorrow to receive their card as they cannot be issued without the gift certificate in fear that multiples will be given out.

After looking at everyone’s responses, it looks like if anyone shopped before noon today it wasn’t tracking. It seems like it was fixed sometime 12pm.
I wasn’t planning on going because it was Father’s Day I wanted to spend it with my family, but I live in CT, and it looks like CT is working with the tracking. And like I stated above , it seems like it started tracking after 12pm, so if you haven’t gone this morning because you were hesitant, you should be able to go with no problem!
Glad to hear this! I’m in CT too, and I’m not getting my Clairol coupons till later so I was holding my breath to see if this was going to work or not.

I just did the hair color deal 4 times and I had a running total on the bottom of my receipt at the Jackson Shop Rite!
Quite frankly the whole thing was a mess and I finally just gave up. I had the same totals on my receipt despite buying other items when I did the next transaction. They could care less at CS, said it was after plus card and all coupons.
Avalon, you can call 1-800-SHOPRITE, they can pull up your account and go over your transactions and get back to you on it. I’m supposed to be getting a return call tomorrow. Good Luck!
it says on the circular it is the total before manufacturer coupons, so they are wrong for saying that. i would take the ad and show them.
Hi All. Happy Father’s day you guys out there!! At Shoprite in Vails Gate: This morning at 9:42…when I did the Clairol ZNatural Instincts deal twice (2 transactions) there wasn’t any tracking towards the $75/25gc on my receipt, but when I went back and did the deal two more times (2 transactions) @ 1:57pm this afternoon, it did track but only for the last two transactions. So I will just take the receipts that did not track to customer service when I know I have reached my total and let them clear up the discrepancy.
Can someone confirm that the certificate for the gift card printed on the bottom of the receipt? There have been so many scenarios and it seems that you are lucky if cs will honor the promotion and give you a gift card. TIA!
I too bought 4 loreal and only got 1 catalina so the above is not correct for everyone.
I went around 1:30 and it wasn’t tracking. I did not do enough anyway because I was going to go back later in the week. I wonder if todays purchases will even count?
I just bought the hair dye it worked with the cat also there is beauty rewards where if you spend $50 in beauty products you get 5 in a cat. I check the shop rite website and if you go to check your points it should show the total spent

It’s working at the Wayne store (about 2:30 PM). I bought 4 Natural Instincts in 2 transactions, used coupons, and got 2 cats. My receipt shows my Big Brands Points as 27.96 ($6.99 each).
I forgot to ask: for those of you using the gas card cats you got last week – are you certain those cats are not reducing the number of Big Brand points you receive? For example, if I bought only Natural Instincts and Tyson chicken and paid with a gas cat from last week would I get points for those products minus the $10.00 cat? Has anyone bought only this week’s qualifying products, used a cat from last week, and still received ALL their Big Brand points? Thanks!

Can anyone tell me what a beauty care reward is. I got a $5 OYNO today and it says it was a beauty care rewards. All I bought was 2 of the kids shampoos?
What a nice surprise! Only certain people get those, I think it’s random. I know it is spend $50 in beauty products get $5 OYNO. Do you remember getting a cat stating you were eligible? The shampoos probably topped the $50 requirement. I’ve never gotten one. I do keep reading all the cats at checkout with my fingers crossed!

You probably has what I have: buy $30 in beauty products and get a $5 catalina good on your next purchase. It’s Great! I’ve done it twice already and hope to be able to get one more before the deal ends… can’t remember when that is… June 30? At the bottom of your receipt it states how much you have spent on these products so far. You can also log in online (the address is on the receipt, I think it’s the couponnetwork site) and check your points there. Just put in your 9-digit number (also on the receipt) to log in. Love it!
Wow I wish I knew about it earlier. I don’t remember getting a cat. I don’t know what triggers those things. I must have a lucky card because I got the $2 off car for the crunchy nut cereal so each time I have bought one I take it up to courtesy and get $2 back. I would have bought more items if I knew about this one. Is there a list of what you need to buy. Is is just shampoo?

Just an update on the Manchester CT store…I called corporate. I had NO faith that the girl I talked to at the store was going to call me, she wrote my name and number down on a store ad! lol Anyway, corporate recorded the complaint and will be forwarding it on to the store. They asked if I had my receipts handy and she manually entered in all of the qualifying items values…she said it was all valid and now active and to just go to the store and do a small transaction to get the gc, so while running errands with hubby and the kids, I went into the East Hartford store and got my gc. I think I will be going to the East Hartford store more often…I have been there quite a few times and the CS certainly tops Manchester!
Yes they are wonderful. I had written to them through the website and the store manager called me and thanked me. They also sent (4) $1.00 store coupons, I thought that was a nice gesture!
I am in MD and made my purchase at 10 am with no tracking. I am planning to try again tomorrow. Does anyone know if weight watchers frozens should count towards the deal. I don’t see it listed.

It’s funny that they are run by the same family and yet Manchester’s stinks. I remember last year I had a coupon for the Santa Cruz lemonade, I believe it was for .75 cents off. Well at the time I ran out of colored ink and the coupons had print in black and white. The cashier said I couldn’t use it because she accused me of photo copying. I said that my ink was low so I printed 4 in black and white. She called over the supervisor and she accused me that it’s a fraud and I photo copied it. That’s is unbelievable. And the coupon clearly stated that in the fine lines that it can be accepted in black and white or color. I went to the service desk and explained the issue, and I pointed to them about the fine line, and they said, since it said that we have to honor it. So they did. I should of got the supervisor name because that is wrong accusing someone in front of people and calling them a fraud. And the only reason I went there is because I was visiting family and Glastonbury/EH was out of something that was a hot deal. Since then I have not step foot in there. Plus Glastonbury/EH is much cleaner since it’s newer.
This is a great promo! I spent 10.76 OOP so far and have 43.86 towards the gift card plus I still have a $6.00 cat to use!

Be careful when you hand over your store card. Mine is on my keys and they scanned my Pathmark card by mistake. I got all the sale prices but my total was completely off for the gift card. I went to customer service and he said he worked his magic to fix it so I hope it’s right now.
The Norwalk, CT store worked just fine-no problems at all! No lie-I had $12.20 left in my budget. I purchased 12 Clairol Natural Instincts (luckily there were 12 still on the shelf!) and separated them into 6 transactions. The $6.00 catalinas printed for each one and I rolled them. I also used $4 Family Rewards points to reduce my first transaction to only $3.49 OOP ($11.98-$5-$4=$2.98 +$0.51 tax). The other 5 transactions rang up at $1.74 each ($11.98-$5-$6=$0.98 + $0.76 tax) for a total of $12.19 OOP! The register was tracking at the pre-sale price ($6.99) for a total of $83.88. I received the $25.00 SR G/C and also still have a $6.00 cat from my final transaction!
I couldn’t be happier about making $18.81, saving an extra $4.25-thanks to the Family Rewards points, and getting 12 boxes of hair dye for free! I will now roll the deal again during the week with a different SR card, use this G/C to pay for it and come up with an additional $14.56 to add to my shopping budget for a total of $45.56 in SR gift cards and catalinas making the whole thing a $33.37 money making deal!! Woo Hoo!
If you haven’t done the P&G “Lift Your Game” rebate the Clairol qualifies so you can do it and receive a $10 gift card from them bringing your profit up to $28.81 (plus they donate $10 to Team USA Youth Sports).

This is an example of why CS gets so uptight with couponers in general. It’s people like this that clear shelves and blatantly abuse the system (limit 1 GC per HH) that ruin it for every honest person out there. I don’t care if you only had $12 left in your budget, it’s only mid June! Learn to spend your money more wisely or look for additional sources of income.
How are you all able to do 6 transactions in a row? Or are you going out to the car and coming back in? I tried to do 2 separate transactions at the East Hartford, CT store last week and was told that was not allowed.
This depends on the store – two of my local SRs won’t allow more than one transaction (per day, they say), but the coupon-friendly one will allow up to 4 before the register beeps if you use the same card…they’ll usually push through a 5th transaction, but I don’t like to do that.
I didn’t have any problems doing the 6 transactions at all. The register never beeps. My trips are almost always broken into separate transactions, although they are usually not all the same items in each. I try to only go to the cashiers who are friendly and know me and the managers are usually pretty easy going. I think they just rather have me done and out of the store-lol. I can understand the stores limiting “like” coupons used per transaction; however, I don’t understand why your stores give you problems with doing as many transactions as you want! I don’t see why it should matter.
I did 3 separate transaction in EH, CT and they were ok with it. I only bought 6 hair dyes and a bunch of other things to get the $25 gift card. I went on Tuesday around 1pm, sorta busy but had a lot of cash registers open.
At the East Hartford I never got hassled for a 2nd transaction, I never do more then 2. I just go another time during the work if I can or my husband stops in on his way from work. But I was told as long as it’s slow you should be able to do it, just don’t do a lot. Or if you are worried just do them at the self check out line. One time I explained to them I needed 2 items separate from my order because I needed a separate receipt for a rebate and I didn’t want to send my whole receipt just in case I needed to return something or just keep it for financial reference. They bought it, (honestly I didn’t need it for a rebate, hey a little lie wasn’t going to hurt), but it worked. Just an idea.
I find that it just depends on how busy they are. I often need to do separate transactions because I buy my own groceries at the same time that I buy the groceries I need for the cooking classes I teach (which need to be on a separate receipt because I am reimbursed for them). If I go durring off hours, I’m usually able to do the transactions back to back with the same cashier, but if they’re busy they tell me it’s not allowed. So I just get back in line with another cashier.
I often say I want to put the second “order” on a different credit card.
Does any one knows if this is working on tide?

that’s the mcDonald ave. stop and shop, did you do the deal, if so? what was your final cost. I usally dont go to Shoprite because its very far from where I live, and the one at McDonald doesn’t double.

FYI for EH/Glastonbury SR shoppers, I went today and the Clariol was completely out. They are not getting a shipment until Wednesday. The lady I talked to said it’s going to be a HUGE shipment because they are flying off the shelf’s like crazy. Well it would have been nice if someone left some, it’s only Monday lol.

I called customer service about the lack of tracking and they have received numerous complaits and said it will take a day or 2 to fix the error. I will call tomorrow and see. Apparently thousands of people were calling and complaining about the same thing.
Had a great day, I paid oop $40.64 for 3 transactions. Got back $18.00 (for 6 hair dye), and $2.00 (for L’Oreal) I also bought other items for the gift card deal. I got the $25.00 gift card deal. I saved $117.69.
I had gone yesterday and I got $5.00 for the napkin/paper roll deal, and I got $2.00 for the L’Oreal, and $10.00 for the father’s day gc deal. I used those towards my 3 transactions.
I have another $10.00 left and the $45.00 free money I made today! Now it’s time to stock up on meats and produce!
Anyone know if 75 gc deal can be done more than once on same card?
