Do It Yourself: Coasters Out of Tile
Do It Yourself: Coasters Out of Tile
Once again, my crafty daughter Nikki made an awesome craft! This time she made Coasters Out of Tile! These are so easy and they can easily be made to match your home and can be a great house warming gift!
What you Need:
- Tiles – about $0.80 each at Home Depot
- Painters tape
- Acrylic Paint or Spray Paint – Michaels
- Finishing Top Coat and primer
- Felt -one side must be sticky – Michaels
How to make your own Tile Coasters:
Step 1: Prime the tiles so they are not so slippery
Step 2: Tape any pattern you want onto the tile using the painters tape
Step 3: Paint the tile with the tape on it!

Step 4: Let them dry half way then remove the tape.

Step 5: Spray the tiles with the Finishing Top Coat to protect them!
Step 6: Cut the felt into the size of the tile and put the sticky side onto the tile. This helps them from scratching any furniture and from sliding!

Step 7: Use them in your home or give them as a gift!
Enjoy!

Beautiful! Let us know when we can place an order, Nikki;) Wink, wink!
You have so many great ideas and projects. I forgot to print the instructions for the hemp bracelets. I have an idea, how about an addition to the tool bar maybe DIY and Fashion. I know Megan has alot of options for fashion and the only way I know how to get back to the great ideas both of you give is to scroll back. Sincerely a dedicated fan to your website
I tell everyone I know about this site.
@Shaun, if you’d like to pull up all of Megan’s past posts just type “fashionably” into the search box. It will bring up all of them with the most present post first! HTH!! Now, for Nikki’s I haven’t figured out the best search word yet. I REALLY like your idea about an addition to the tool bar
Great Idea to do with kids during the summer and give as gifts at christmas. THANKS!
I made these a couple of years ago for Christmas for the grandparents. We used non toxic paint and did baby foot prints on them, then sealed them a bunch of times.
Nikki’s going to save our sanity this summer! My kids and I thank you for another fun, easy, and inexpensive activity. Love that this craft can double as a gift too!
You could probably also decoupage some photos onto the tile too. Don’t know; never tried it. It’s not too expensive to find out the hard way that it doesn’t work. I love cheap materials for a great craft. When it’s inexpensive, you don’t mind if you mess up one or two for practice.

I’m sorry if this is a stupid question. Does step 1 mean to paint the tile with primer first? I do not have a creative bone in my body. I want to do this with my girl scout troop.
Yes, you would prime them first. I believe she used a spray primer which you can get at a craft store.
Absolutely love this. Will be making a few sets! Thanks so muc!#
Awesome!!!!!
