Extreme Couponing Tip: Take Advantage of All Possible Savings

Extreme Couponing Tip: Take Advantage of All Possible Savings

Do you know about all the potential savings programs your store has to offer?  I bet you’d be surprised at some of the promotional programs most stores offer that you might not even be aware of.  This is something totally worth doing research on at your most frequently visited stores.  It could be exhausting trying to keep track of promotional programs at every grocery and drug store in your area.  In fact, I wouldn’t really recommend trying to master all of the potential promotional programs at every store in your area.  That might just make you crazy!  Consider picking your two most frequented stores, such as ShopRite and CVS for myself, and really get to know all the savings they have to offer.  It’s easy to forget about some of the savings that are available, but when we plan our shopping trips to take advantage of all these promotional offers when they apply, we are ultimately saving the most money!  Many times we can double or triple dips on savings without even much effort.  Below are the promotional programs offered at ShopRite and CVS, which I try to make use of as much as possible!

ShopRite Promotional Programs:

  • ShopRite Price Plus Savings Card: Instant cash discounts on hundreds of items throughout the store.
  • ShopRite Family Rewards: ShopRite Family is a program designed to reward family shoppers.  Purchase qualifying brand products, earn points, and redeem points each quarter for items in the ShopRite e-store or money off your next bill, up to $10.00 off!
  • ShopRite Baby Bucks Program: For every $100.00 you spend on baby items, you’ll receive $10.00 off your next shopping order of $50.00 or more!
  • ShopRite Electronic Coupons: Add exclusive savings directly to your Price Plus Card.

CVS Promotional Programs:

  • CVS ExtraCare Bucks: Issued whenever you purchase a qualifying product. Rewards print on your register receipt once the qualifying purchase has been made.
  • CVS Beauty Club: Earn $5 ExtraBucks Rewards when you spend $50 on qualifying beauty product(s).
  • Quarterly ExtraCare Rewards: Issued 4 times per year, for 2% back on everyday purchases and $1 for every 2 prescriptions filled.
  • ExtraCare Advantage for Diabetes: Part of Quarterly ExtraBucks Rewards, Earn double ExtraBucks Rewards on 100+ diabetes-related products.
  • Green Bag Tag:  Your $1 ExtraBucks Reward will be Issued after your 4th visit with your Green Bag Tag.

Now it’s your turn!  What “hidden” promotional programs does your favorite store offer that we should be taking advantage of?

Whats the green bag tag at CVS? The link just goes to their site..

    • Mary

You can buy it in the store…… it looks like a green leaf……. it is usually hanging up by the registers but just ask for it!

  • Jodi

Seriously the Green Tag slipped under my radar for about two years! I didn’t even know they had that promotion until this year!

I was just thinking the same thing.. I cant believe Ive been missing out on this 😉

Pathmark doubles coupons that say do not double and they also have a baby rewards program but instead of spending a certain amount to get $$ off your next purchase it takes off dollars or cents right at the register for instant savings.

  • Rachel

I’ve seen people talk about a Beauty Club for Shoprite too, but I don’t have information on it.

Green bag tag is a tag you have to get it from CVS for $1 i suppose. It looks like a leaf and it has a bar code in it.
Everytime you shop, if you are not taking CVS bags and using your own re-usable bags, you are eligible to scan it.
Every fourth time you scan this green bag tag, we get $1 ECB printed out in reward to your motive to save the environment.

I never knew about getting $1 reward for every 2 prescriptions filled. Do I just have them scan my extra care card when I pay for the prescriptions to get the credit?

A&P has a Pet Rewards program. For every $100 spent on pet products, you can earn $9 off your next order. It tracks automatically on the bottom of your receipt.

Price Chopper has a great Baby program. They send coupons for a free 8 inch first birthday cake and for a free 16 pack of cookies for the second and third birthdays.

  • Annie

I shop on Mondays at Pathmark with my father in law to get a senior citizen discount.

    • JerseyCityWoman

Good honorable mention, Annie! Both Pathmark and A&P (parent co.) have Senior Appreciation days, Pathmark on Mondays and A&P on Tuesdays. You must be 55 and over, and you save 5% on purchases of over $30. The store’s flyer has the one-day coupon, front page, usually located towards the bottom of the page.

Cindy, this was a lovely written informative post. I enjoy Shoprite’s promotional programs, since I practically “live” in the store! LOL!

The only bummer about CVS’s green tag is that you can only use it once a day, so I don’t think you can use it on same day back to back transactions. I think it cost $0.99. I fold one plastic grocery bag so that it is tiny and save it in my purse, just so I’m never without a reuseable bag and can use the green tag.
