There is a Gift Card Catalina deal at Stop & Shop this week. It’s not as great as the last deal however, it’s still a money maker.
This week you can buy $100 in Visa Gift Card and get a $10 Catalina. There is an activation fee on the gift card which usually run around $4.95 – $5.95 which still make this a $4 – $5 Money Maker. And, you can usually use the gift card, which is really just a Visa Debit Card, to pay for your next Visa Card. Of course each time you will need to pay your activation fee but you will score a $10 catalina.

Let’s say you did this 4 times, at the end of the week you will have a $100 Visa Gift Card to use for your groceries or anything else you usually buy. You will have spent as low as $19.80 out of pocket and have $40 in Stop & Shop Catalinas.
So, you can see it’s still a good deal. Not as good as the gas card deal but still a good deal!

My Giant has this same deal and I wasn’t sure if it was worth doing or not….maybe I will.

Gift cards do not count for gas points.
Usually gift cards don’t count for gas points. The only store I know that does gas points forgift cards is Price Chopper.

I just tried this at my stop & shop in mansfield MA and the employees didn’t know anything about a $10 catalina.. I’m glad i asked them before i purchased the gift card.. Has anyone had any luck with this at their stop & shop?
I think $19.80 out of pocket is just the activation fees. Essentially the $100 gift cards will just be used as cash anyway.
I just did the deal today and the catalina has 7/23 as the expiration date. I also bought 3 of the Pure silk shave gels plue something else little, and it fully doubled w/ some overage the $0.80/1 Q from this weekend’s insert.
Be careful! I once tried doing this type of deal last time it was available. —- usually the store will not let you use a gift card (even though its a debit card to pay for another gift card) !!
It should say your name on the card in order for the store to let you use it to pay for gcs
I just did this deal twice. It has to be separate transaction to get $10.00 CAT.
Activation fee was $5.95 and I purchased $120.00 card + fee.
Then I did second transaction to purchase $110.00 + fee.
This way first transaction card covered 100% of second transaction, so I didn’t have to ask cashier that I had to charge to 2 separate cards or form of payment.
I noticed if I ask to pay by two cards, sometime cashier asked what kind of card I was using. Not sureif this worked or not, I just swiped first gift card and paid for second card without any trouble. Only the trouble for second transaction was CAT did not print out. Cashier told me to go to the CS and CS
asked if I wanted $10.00 store gift card or cash.
I asked cash and she gave me $10.00 back! Now I still have $110.00 in my second gift card, I am going back for 3rd time and it will be $100.00 + fee.
Although $4 is a very small money maker , i was interested int he terms and conditions of the catalina coupon . Does the catalina specifically say cannot be sued to purchase gift cards like last time around. Please confirm if somebody has read the terms and conditions of the catalina
It said can not purchase Gift Card on $10.00 Catalina coupon.
How come the CAT didn’t print out the second time. Is it limit 1 per household? That’s kind of strange…
I went to different store for second transaction. Two S & S were 10 min apart where I live and I needed to go Trader Joe’s and other S & S was right next to it.
Has anyone tried to roll the cats when buying the 2nd gift card? If so, did the cat print on the 2nd order too?

I did it 4 times this week and got the $10 cat each time. The cat will not roll it states not for gift cert. I was wondering if anyone did it more than 4 times.
I did this deal today. One data point is i did the 500$ variable load visa card as a last transaction and the cat did not print. So it is specifically only for the 100$ visa gift card only . Not 100$ or more
Not sure how the other person above used a variable card to load 120 and got the CAT. It didnt work for me on the variable card
