Last night I headed to a different ShopRite in search of the Brawny Paper Towels. I was successful with that but they were out of Truvia at this ShopRite. Bummer!
As I was handing the cashier my catalinas to pay, he said “are you trying to paying nothing”. I said, “well, that’s the plan!” And, my total at the end was just $0.78.
As I said yesterday, this is another example of using catalinas to keep your out of pocket down. This time I used $11 in catalinas, paid $0.78 and received $6 in catalinas.
Here is what I did:
ShopRite Transaction :
- (4) Hefty Trash Bags – $1.39
- (1) Glade Expressions Mist – $3.39
- (2) Brawny 8 Roll Paper Towel – $6.88
Coupons Used:
- (4) $0.55/1 Hefty Trash Bags (5/13 SS)
- (1) $3/1 Glade Expressions
- (2) $0.75/1 Brawny Paper Towel
- - $5 Catalina
- - $4.00 Catalina
- - $2.00 Catalina
- Tax: $0.47
Paid: $0.78
Received: $1.00 catalina (Glade), $5.00 Catalina (Brawny)

Great trip! Love CATS! Did you find your cashier was rude? I got my bill down from $40 to $10 with Coupons/CATS, and then after I paid more CATS started spitting out, and my cashier was so mad! She ripped them off and basically threw them at me. Not sure why they really care?? Just gets annoying after awhile… They burst my bubble a bit
He wasn’t rude but kind of smirked when he said my balance.

Newbie question. What are Catalina’s and how do I get them?

Catalinas are promotions companies offer to get you to buy their product. You buy the specified products, and they give you money off of your next shopping trip. They come from a machine next to the cash register. If you’ve gotten coupons with your receipt, those came from the catalina machine.
In this trip Cindy bought Glade Expressions starter kit. It cost $3.39. There’s a $3/1 coupon now, which makes it .39. There’s also a catalina deal – buy 1 get $1. In this case, even if you don’t intend to use the product, it’s a Money Maker. Spend .39, get back $1. This deal must be done one at a time though, if you buy 2, you don’t get $2.
Catalina deals don’t always work out to be money makers. But if you like the products you have to buy, or the cost out of pocket is close to the cat you get back – why not?
I bought the same brawny 8packs and no Catalina printed. I got the one for glade an reach, but not brawny. Any ideas why?
Check your receipt to make sure they rang up as $6.88.. there is another 8 pack that looks EXACTLY the same but ring up as $8.49(ish) I only noticed it cause the CAT didnt print. I went back to CS returned them, and got the $6.88 ones and it printed.
::Sigh:: That would be why I didn’t get a catalina and why my total was off…I hate how sneaky stores can be.
It was the select a size ones that were $8.49
The Brawny needs to be the 8 Giant Pack not the regular 8 pack which is priced at $8.49 and not on sale. The correct one says 8 Giant Rolls = 12. Always be sure to check your shelf tags and match the UPC codes on the package with the UPC codes. Your tags should have read $10.68 with a price plus sale of $6.88. then look for the UPC code on that tag and check to be sure the package has the same UPC code.
Too add to Cindys my $8.49 ones did say 8 = 12 but it was on the side on the package. If you look at her photo it is right on the front, leftside.
I did this exact same deal x2 …also did the exact same deal with teh .55 coupons ..then the 1 / 1 coupons.
I have 20 boxes of trashbags, 12 – 8 Pk of Brawny, 12 Glade Misters and 6 Truvia.
After all Cats / coupons etc. 40.
So the trash bags work out to .24 cents each x 20 (4.8)
I had various costs on the Brawny depending which coupons I used…so lets figure high side 3.38 each. (40.56)
Truvia = .50 each. (3) and 12 Glade Expressions Free + MM (-8) — I broke down and did a few of these transactions as multiples…
WOW! 20 boxes of trash bags and 12 packs of paper towels! I hope you left some for everyone else!
Yep…left plenty on shelf.
I know there are different views on “clearing shelves” but I don’t like to do it.
There was actually tons left out. Our shoprite appears to be well stocked since none of the deals at any time came close to me clearning the shelf. Yea Hatfield Shoprite.

I purchased the same Brawny Giant 8 rolls = 12 regular rolls that you have pictured and I didn’t get the cat. I checked at my store again and it had a shelf price of $10.38 and it had a sale price of $6.88. When I bought the two packs of paper towels on Monday and didn’t get the cat, I went to customer service and explained it to them. They said it was based on sale price and not shelf price so they wouldn’t give me the cat. Should I contact the Catalina Marketing and ask for it? I also didn’t get the Kellogs cat and I had bought 4 boxes of Frosted Flakes and 4 boxes of Krave. Customer service said the same thing when I asked about not getting the cat. Should I call Catalina Marketing about this also? I was going to call, but wasn’t sure if this was a cat that they handled or not.
Can you buy more then one glade in one transaction and get more catalinas?
No, only one $1 cat will print out per transaction so you might want to break it up into several transactions.
I just bought 4 in one trans and went to CS and they printed out the rest for me. I thought it would be fster than holding up the lines. It was super busy.
Can you roll the brawny and sparkle catalinas?
I rolled my Brawny, I wasnt aware of any CAT on the Sparkle, so I cant answer that one….

Hi Cindy, did you join up as a free member on coupons.com for the trail period? I wasn’t sure if they ask for any credit card information, but I know you need to choose a membership type and I wasn’t sure if you need to give them any credit card info. I’m curious to see if you think its worth the cost beyond that?
A while back they were giving out free 1 year memberships. I joined it then and yes they did ask for a credit or debit card at the time. I don’t use coupons from the savings club that often so I haven’t decided if I will be keeping it or not when the time comes to renew.

I did Brawny last night it work. cashier was nice and let me do glade one by one so I did not have to go in and out. reach toothbrushes were out, and today I brought the .99cent ones no cat, oh well, at least I have free toothbrushes.
i did pretty well at sr this week with the exception of the hefty bags

JUST GET A RAINCHECK IF THERE ARE NONE IN STOCK…. OR CALL AROUND DIFFERENT SHOPRITES TO SEE IF THEY HAVE ANY IN STOCK! (SOME MAY EVEN HOLD THEM FOR YOU. UNTIL U GET THERE!)..
