Hello i just came from my Dollar General i tried the coupons on the toppers they wouldnt work i was told they werent the right size for the coupon and the Country Time has to be the 8 qt. canasiter to work with the coupons and the instant savings thats what i was told earlier…

I used the toppers coupon on my dg last night and which country time coupon were you using? I was able to use the koolaide canister one for the $1 koolaide pack in this ad

The exact same thing happened to me. She scanned the Velveeta toppers coupon and the register said I was not buying a qualifying item. I still got them though because I did get the $2 off and had a few cents to roll on it from my Jellos.

Uh oh! I think we all need a Dollar General shopping tutorial! LOL! I’m searching all over this site to see what the Dollar General rules are so I can set up some big scores there this week, but other than their stated coupon policy, there isn’t a whole lot of info about how many coupons you can use in 1 shopping trip, etc. Maybe they don’t limit (which would be nice since Dollar Tree is pretty restrictive, which makes it hard when it’s not right nearby).

Wondering if anyone here frequents Dollar Tree and knows how to work it right? :)

Just came back from Dollar General. Usually I hand them a coupon and if it exceeds the price, they either give ME the extra or call it even. Not today! I bought 3 pudding, used $1 coupon and the $2 wouldn’t come off. They voided it out and totaled it first. The $2 came off but wouldn’t accept the coupon. I now know I should have had other items. 25c for 3 was still a great deal. I also bought 3 Velveeta toppers= $3. Got $2 off. The register accepted one 70c coupon making it 30c for 3. I might go back and try the coupons again with other items in my cart!

  • Linda

Oh… have them total the order FIRST before giving them the coupons. That way the $2 will come off.

I think since there have been problems with the $1.00 Country Time pouches, I may try this:

    2 Country Time Canisters – $5.00
    1 Jell-O – .75
    3 Velveeta Toppers – $3.00

    TOTAL: $8.75
    -$4 instant savings
    -$1 Country Time coupon
    -$2.10 (3) Velveeta coupons

TOTAL OOP: $1.65 Not free, but not a bad deal if it works!

It should work with no problem

Last night I was able to get over $50 worth of stuff for 14

I used the 4 Velveeta coupons no problem, I also used the $1 koolaide canister one for the $1 packets that are buy 3 save $2 also the koolaide and capri sun coupons

I did several Kraft deals in one transaction and had no problem with the $2 coming off for each. None of my coupons beeped either, even the toppers. I did not try the country time though, just toppers, jello, and jammers. Like someone else suggested on here, I didn’t hand over the coupons until everything was totaled and the instant savings had already come off.

  • Rose

I did a total of 9 transactions at the same time, after checking my receipt the one tip I would give is if you are buying more then 2 deals of the same item (I had 4 b2g1 free pouches) separate them. I only received the $2 instant savings on 2 of the pouch deals. they also had many other items included along w/tear pads. one was a coupon get a free pouch when you purchase 1 bag of planters snack bag, or a double lunchable snack pack never seen these before & 1 other item cant remember what it was. also they do not give overage. and the cashier has no control over that the reg auromatically changes the value of the coupon down. I printed several dollar general coupons from their site, re %1.50 off any 2 kraft items, country time b2g1 free, stacked that w/the $1/2 and one other. while scanning both my daughter & I noticed thio so DONT count on overage the reg adjust your coupons automatcically
