Extreme Couponing Trip to ShopRite

Reader Evie had an awesome trip to ShopRite this week! She took advantage of a bunch of great deals this week and used her catalinas from her first 2 transactions in her 3rd to make her OOP as low as possible!  Here is what she had to say:

I wanted to share my terrific shopping trip to ShopRite this morning! I did 3 separate transactions and ended up spending only $8.86!! I’m sooo happy!  I have only been using coupon for a few months (newbie!) and cannot believe I didn’t do it before. My husband and I have a new baby and I have decided to stay home with her – which puts a big dent in our income. So using coupons has allowed us to continue to eat well without living from paycheck to paycheck. Thank you for all the work that you do in helping families like mine save money!

Check out her awesome trip:

Evie ~ Congratulations! Well done! And how wonderful you are staying home with your baby. I did the same thing 18 years ago. I learned to clip coupons and save every penny before there even was the internet. Believe it or not, I had a grocery budget of $42.00 a WEEK to feed my small family (including diapers!), and I breast feed my daughter for 18 months to avoid formula/milk costs! Those were the best, most memorable days of my life. Today, my daughter is a freshman at Syracuse University, and her tuition is largely paid for by my hard work at couponing.

Thanks, Kathy! I really feel that being a stay-at-home mom is such a luxury, and all this saving that Cindy helps us do makes it possible! We are not down to $42 a week yet (that is AMAZING!!) but there’s always hoping!!

    Awesome job Evie!

That’s awesome! I just checked on the Kraft Fresh Take coupon, and it has reset for me. I last printed it on the 1st.

    • Evie

      Yay! Will check into it!

  • John

    Excellent !!!

great job! you can do the cat deal with any polly-o? my store didn’t have the rice crackers! :( were they maybe in the gluten free shelf?

  • Vivian Crayton Johnson

Does it matter if the coupon says “Redeemable at Walmart” if it says Manufacturer’s at the top? The Rice Thins crackers coupons say that. :(

    • tina

sadly my shoprite refuses to take those coupons :(

  • mary

My SR won’t take those coupons as well or let anyone do back-to-back orders. You have to go out the door, come back in again, and check out with a different cashier.
    So silly.

    • Evie

I agree! They usually don’t mind if they are not super busy – but then again, they are super nice at my SR!

  • tina

Were the ronzoni and breakstone coupons regional….such great deals on things I use but I didn’t find them in my inserts?

  • Courtney

Ur lucky my SR won’t let us use 2 same price CATs in one order.

  • Olivia

I’m not sure if this is “cheating”, but for those of you that are worried about the portion of the coupon that says “Redeemable at Walmart” -
I’ve found that when I go to the self check outs, that the cashiers barely even look at my coupons. They just punch them right in :)
    Best of Luck!

Wow! Evie, that is amazing!!! When I first started out, I got so excited by all the deals out there that we didn’t really SAVE a lot of money- we spent around the same amount, but just got a lot more stuff. I wish I had the same amount of self control that you have! The deals are just too good to pass up, although I am getting better (mainly because we’re running out of room! haha).

The coupon you used on the cream cheese, what were the specifics? I have tearpad coupons for $1/2 Philly cream cheese spread, 8oz. The tubs are pictured. Will they allow me to use the coupon on the $0.99 bricks?
