Is your Sour Cream stock pile building up?  With all this FREE Sour Cream that is available right now I beat you are wondering what to do with all this Sour Cream.  I sure am!

I rounded up some tried and true recipes using sour cream from sites like Kraft and Friendship.  There are recipes for side dishes, entrees, dessert, appetizers and more.  So many to choose from and with the holidays right around the corner, it’s a big baking and cooking time.

Did you know…

  • You can add a cup of Sour Cream into cake batters to make them moist and fluffy
  • You can substitue Sour Cream in place of Mayo or cream cheese in casseroles and desserts
  • Whisk in a dab of sour cream to homemade vinaigrette dressing to give it a creamy texture
  • Add a spoonful of sour cream to scrambled eggs to make them nice and creamy
  • Mix sour cream with hot sauce to put on tacos, burgers or nachos.
  • A dab of sour cream whisked into a homemade vinaigrette
  • Mix 4 parts sour cream with 1 part sugar to make a delicious fruit dip

    -Topping off anything spicy. Tacos, chili, curries, etc. It adds that needed creamyness to cool off the dish and it’s delicious!
    -Sour cream is the base to any dip. Add ranch seasoning or your favorite herbs and it’s a dip for crackers, carrots, celery, chips, etc
    -I’m a big fan of scones and many recipes contain sour cream. They are actually best if you cut them and freeze them individually (each wrapped tighly with plastic wrap). They keep their shape and crisp up better if you bake them from frozen. I have a very simple recipe in a cookbook at home, but I’m sure you can find them online. Just remove them from the freezer in the morning and put them in the oven for about 25 minutes.

    This is not really a problem for my household. I make Taco Salad about once a week & it usually lasts us 2-3 meals. I cook up yellow rice, homemade beans, chicken breast with taco seasoning & fix it up with lettuce, salsa, sour cream, hot sauce, & cayenne pepper. Really delicious & relatively healthy. So, we go through I would say probably about 2 1/2 32 oz sour creams a month. It keeps for usually a good 2-4 months, so we should consume it. A good thing to add to your meal plan.

      REally?? 2-4 months? Do you keep your sour cream in the fridge? Sounds like I might try your Taco Salad! Sounds pretty good! Thanks.

        I’m going by the date on the container. As long as you don’t open it, it will stay good until the marked date.

          And, I read somewhere, though haven’t tried it yet – once opened, store it in the fridge upside down (after making sure the top is tightly covered, of course!). Keeps it fresher, longer.

          Actually went to pick mine up yesterday & I noticed my light sour cream expires in a week & the regular ones expire December 1. So we actually will need to plan to use it before expiring. I’m sure it’s actually good for at least a week after as long as you don’t open it.

    LOL. Just finished putting away the groceries from my trip to Shop Rite and was thinking about what to do with all this sour cream. I do make this easy and delicious make ahead scrambled eggs dish. Great for holiday mornings!

    I made some onion dip and sent the kids to school with cut up veggies and small container of dip and I am about to make some sugar cookies that use sour cream. I am also planning on making white chicken enchiladas soon, they use sour cream in the sauce.

      If you have Acme, there is supposed to be a great Lipton coupon in Sunday’s paper & you can buy 6 items (limit 2 coupons on a product per transaction) to get $3 off. The I plan to buy 4 Lipton Onion soup boxes & 2 Wishbone dressings & the total will be .09 each…..

    I make a savory rice dish in the oven. Prepare rice/water as you normally would. Add container of sour cream and some herbs, be sure to mix well. Bake covered at 400 for 30-45 min. Let stand covered for 10 min……I’ve also baked it w/ raw chicken on top on the rice mixture, covered w/ foil and bake at 400 for an hour.
