Extreme Couponing Trip to Weis

Extreme Couponing Trip to Weis

So for those of you who are unaware, the Hillsborough, NJ Weis Market is doubling coupons up to $2 right now, through tomorrow, 1/21!  A $1 coupon becomes $2 off, a $2 coupon becomes $4 off!  So awesome!  If you have a Weis nearby, be sure to check if your location has this double coupon event as well.

LRWC team member Denise made a trip to Weis yesterday and we are all drooling over her trip! She is going back for more today ;)  Here’s what she had to say:

Oh my goodness, I can’t even tell you how excited I am about this shopping trip! It is definitely one of the best I have ever made! I was so excited to hear that Weis in Hillsborough is doubling coupons up to $2 until 1/21.  Lucky enough for me this store is only about 15 minutes from my house.  We broke up our purchases into 4 different transactions between me and my husband (he was actually excited to go!).  The ad stated that they would double up to 20 coupons per transaction! I think the best part of the double coupons for me was that I primarily got tons of FREE food items! Oh and just a note, in case anyone is planning to buy the Finish Gelpacs – the coupon did not double!

Here’s what Denise got at Weis:

Be sure to check out the rest of the Weis Deals for the week before you shop.

  • Michelle T.

Wow! I’m getting some good ideas to try a trip myself :)

    • Denise Davison

Michelle- The Carmex Lip Balm was also on sale 10/$10, I did not have those coups on me, but something you might want to add to your list if you are going! Happy Shopping! I’m making another trip too :)

      • Michelle T.

Thanks! I had them on my Shoprite list, but I’ll change that now!

  • Emily

I think I would just about die if a store near me ever decided to double up to $2 lol – sooo exciting – awesome trip! :)

    • Denise Davison

Thanks Emily! I almost did die, you should have seen the happy dance I was doing, my husband might have been more excited before I went to bed last night, he says “are we going to Weis again tomorrow!?” :)

      • Heather C.

Denise, I asked a question above but I just thought of another one. The fine print says “one shopping trip per customer, per day”. Did they allow you and your husband to do two orders each? Or did you leave and come back to do the second batch of orders? I only live 5 minutes from Weis but I want to have my lists & coupons all matched before I head over there. Thanks so much!

        • Denise Davison

Hi Heather, I actually spoke with the manager on duty and he said that it would be fine if my husband and I both did 2 separate transactions :)

          • Heather C.

Wow, that’s awesome! My husband and I are going after dinner tonight, and I have a total of three transactions. I’m waiting for your reply on my other question to see if I need to adjust my coupons & transactions. Thanks so much!!

            • Denise Davison

Hope you have an awesome trip, is you husband as excited as mine was?!?!

              • Heather C.

He did the happy coupon dance too! :)

                • Denise Davison

yay! I’m glad the husbands are getting as excited as we are!

                  • Heather C.

When I showed him the totals we would be at without coupons vs. our OOP, his jaw hit the floor. Love that reaction.

Although my friend just informed my that the store is out of slow cooker sauces. Bummer!

                    • Denise Davison

Take a few extra coups along just in case you need to modify your trip at the last minute, that’s what I did!

                    • Heather C.

I didn’t have many things that I was going to buy, just lots of multiples. So I guess my totals will just be lower. I added the carmex lip balm after you posted about it. I’m hoping they have them. Headed to the store now.

  • Ginny Pasqualone

Almost worth the two hour drive to the nearest store, ahh! :)

  • Kari

    Awesome!

  • Reese Pike

wow maybe one day i can be this good!! wtg!!!!!

  • helen

great! brings back memories of when pathmark tried this. :)
a request: would it be possible to display a pre-coupon subtotal on the purchase, and maybe a total $ amount of coupon deductions, so we could more clearly see the savings? thanks!

    • helen

looks like your pre-coupon price was over $200! that’s around 95% savings! great! :)

  • Heather C.

I’m just wondering how you broke down the orders. I read in the fine print something about only two like items per order?! I wasnt sure if they meant two like items or two like coupons. Were you able to buy more than two like items and use two coupons (for example, a coupon for $1.00/2…buy 4 items…use 2 coupons). Thanks!!

    • Heather C.

I’m asking specifically for the Poptarts and coffee creamer. I have (4) $1.00/3 Poptarts and there’s a limit of 6 per order. So I was planning on doing two different orders with 6 boxes in each. But I’m not sure I can do it. The same with the creamer. I have a BUNCH of $1.25/2, but I planned on using 4 of them (2 coupons per order) and buying 4 bottles per transaction. But again, I’m not sure if I’m allowed to do it that way. Thanks for any clarification you can give me!

      • Denise Davison

Hi Heather, it was 2 coupons per items… so if you bought 6 Pop Tarts and used 2 of the $1/3 they would both double, likewise for the creamer!

        • Heather C.

Thank you so much for clarifying. I’m super excited for my trip. Total sale price would be $115.47 and I should bring it down to $32.45 OOP after 3 transactions! :)

          • Denise Davison

wooohoo! that sounds like a great trip to me!

  • helen

did the coupons only double up to the price of the item? for example, the prego and the niagara.

    • Michelle T.

Prego fully doubled for me. Looks like everything did :)

  • DianeG

Thank you for sharing this and, yes, I’m drooling too – ‘need more coffee to calm down. They can be on my way to Flemington tomorrow – well kinda’!
Was that notification about the double cpns only in their paper circular that was mailed or in store? anything on online or in email ? – just curious
Do you need a Wes club card to get the sale price, it looks like it’s needed just for the specials in the circular?
If the club card is needed, can you sign up in person and use it immediately?
    Thanks!

    • Heather C.

Hi Diane – You will need your Weis card to get the sale prices AND for the coupons over $1.00 to double. You can go to customer service (its at the end of all the registers) and sign up for a card. You will receive it immediately and can use it the same day. Just bring your ID in with you so they can easily input all your info. You won’t need the circular, this is a store promotion – there is no special coupon needed. HTH! :)

      • DianeG

        excellent! – Thanks Heather

        • Heather C.

You’re welcome. I hope you manage to get to the store before the snow hits tomorrow! Good luck!!

  • Reno

ugh! this is just so awesome! Unfortunately, I live in Poughkeepsie, NY and three hour drive is a bit far. If anyone knows of when these type of sales happen in NY, please let me know! Being a mom on a serious budget, this HIllsborough trip is something I hope to achieve! Great job!

    • JudyMoody

I’m in Poughkeepsie too! I go to Shoprite and I’ve gotten some great deals, but it’d be awesome if they had a coupon sale like this someday :)

  • Heather C.

Just an FYI – Weis is out of most of the products listed above. No Carmex, Dole Squish’ems, Dole Smoothie Shakers, Campbell’s Slow Cooker or Skillet Sauces, Beneful Baked Snacks, or Starkist pouches. Just wanted to warn people before they waste a trip. I’m totally bummed. :(

    • DianeG

‘so sorry – That’s what happened with Pathmark when they did the big cpn extravaganza – How did you do – were you still able to do at least two transactions?

      • Heather C.

I managed two transactions. Didnt get everything I wanted. Both transactions were identical:

        (2) Silk Almond Milk – $2.99
        (4) Coffee-mate Creamer – $1.67
        (6) Pop Tarts – $1.47

        Used:
        (2) $1.00/1 Silk
        (2) $1.25/2 Coffeemate
        (2) $1.00/3 Pop Tarts

Total before coupons & sale: $31.88
        Total sale price: $21.47
        Total OOP: $8.47
        Total Savings: 73%

        • DianeG

That’s a nice number ;) And yes – It’s always disappointing when you plan, plan, plan and they don’t stock, stock, stock.

          • Heather C.

I agree, it’s very frustrating. This store seems to run out of product more than any other store around here. I remember when Polly-O was on sale back in November, I believe. By Monday afternoon, they were completely out of mozzarella & ricotta. They don’t seem to know how to order to meet customer demands.

      • helen

the difference being that you had the possibility of driving to another pathmark to see if they had stock – and this is only one store – but no extra gas wasted at least ;)

  • Kathy

Holy guacamole that’s SO amazing – you go girl!!….and yes, I am so green with jealousy right now that I’d make the hulk look like as healthy as a brand new baby! ;-)

Are there any stores you know of in CT that ever do something similar?

  • Lisa

Just got back from my 4th trip to Weis and yes, the shelves were pretty much cleared out of the cheap/free items. I asked the manager if they will restock over night and he said yes, so I’ll be there at 8 tomorrow morning after the kids are on the bus. My favorite item…….Gevalia Kaffee k cups Caramel Machiato and Mocha, regular price $9.99, on sale for $5.99, use $1.50 mq doubled to $3.00 and final price $2.99!! I have 8 of these so far and there were plenty on the shelves as well as an end cap! Also picked up 8- 6 packs of Pepsi for $4.00 total! going back to use the rest of my coupons tomorrow, hoping for restocked shelves.

    • Denise Davison

If you like Melitta K-Cups there was a $2/1 in the 1/19 SS making them only $2.99 after doubled coupon :)

      • Lisa

I bought those as well!! I am so stocked up on coffee now.

        • Denise Davison

yay! awesome, you cannot beat a good deal on K-Cups!

    • Heather C.

awesome info about shelves being restocked. the manager was so tired & stressed out looking when i went in there, i couldn’t bear to ask him any questions. i’ll be heading there shortly before the snow gets real bad.

      • Lisa

Some items were back on the shelves when I got there at 8, Squish’ems, Prego Alfedo sauce, Barilla meals, Bird’s Eye Recipe Ready,Campbell’s Skillet Sauce, Campbells Slow cooker sauce, Muller Yogurt and a few Carmex, but then I found Carmex at the registers where the candy is! Glad I am home, the roads are getting bad quickly!

        • Rejane

Lisa, I’m so jealous for the Gevalia! And I just realized the $2 doubling is only until today. ;-(. With all the snow, no way to get it today.

          • Lisa

I can’t wait until they do it again!! I would have gone back again today for a second time, found more Gevalia q’s but the roads are horrible! My garage is packed with Pepsi and K cups!

            • Rejane

Next time I will pay more attention on the dates… Lol
