  • Brooke

    Was the Benadryl coupon regional?

    • Michelle T.

It was with all the J&J coupons with the red stripe across the top.

      • Brooke

        Thanks! I didn’t get any of those…weird

    • Mary

in Baltimore we didn’t get that entire insert!!!

  • IK

a Visa card is a Visa card – but what exactly does ‘Visa gift card TOWARDS GARDENING NEEDS’ mean? hmm…

    • misterbill

Wishful thinking on their part to only have you use it for that. There’s no way they can restrictit.

      • IK

This I can deal with ;) – thx!

  • Jodi

If you received a 25% CVS coupon via email you can also score a nice money-maker there. And don’t forget the $0.50 Shopmium rebate on Kleenex!

    • misterbill

Depends on what the price is at CVS. I’ll check, since I have a $5 off $15 available.

      • Jodi

My CVS had the Benadryl at $5.49 and the Kleenex at $1.99. Not necessarily going to save you a ton more money, but if you prefer CVS or have some ECB’s to spend, it’s another option.

        • misterbill

Benadryl is on sale for $4.99 at CVS starting on Sunday. I’ll wait to buy it then.

          • meg

it’s on sale at shoprite for $3.99 starting sunday
(putting it out there for anyone just looking for cheapest price)

            • Cheri

and the Kleenex were .99 at my Shoprite :)

              • misterbill

I ended up doing it at CVS since I had a $5/15 coupon to use there. I almost bought the $1.39 Kleenex but the other item I was purchasing was $3.50 and I wouldn’t have hit $15, so I just got the $1.99 box.

  • bilinval

I did this deal at RiteAid today. With the gold membership, the $3 coupon, and $1 video value, I paid under $7.

    • IK

Could you share the prices at RA? TIA

      • Cheri

I would like to know too :) Thanks !

        • IK

I just checked my RA – Benadryl was 7.99! No go.

          • Cheri

Ouch ! Thanks for letting me know IK :)

          • misterbill

Are you sure it was the same item being discussed here, the 24 count? I know RA is expensive but that’s $2+ more than CVS, which isn’t normally cheap, either.

            • IK

Maybe not- but that was the only variety they had…

        • bilinval

          Cheri,
I posted the Rite Aid prices above. It was NOT $7.99 at my RiteAid. That was the liquid and childrens.

      • bilinval

Sure. The liqui-gels 24 ct.were $5.49. The Benadryl liquid was more expensive. I paid $4.39 with the gold membership. The Kleenex was on sale for $2 if you bought 2. I only bought one so it was $2.19. I used the $3 and $1 video value.

        • Cheri

ok thanks I will go check it out :)

  • Kelly

One per email? So my husband and I can each do this?

    • DianeG

That is what is says, but I find hard to believe since we are actually (snail) mailing the form, etc. to them. The usual drill is one per mailing address.
Has anyone else ever a rebate like this with these folks with the one per mailing address rule? TIA

  • Kayla

I don’t have the $3 coupon but I found out that Benadryl has $1 printable coupons on their website.

    • DianeG

      Thanks Kayla -

  • Cheri

I just realized I’m out of Sudafed . Can I buy 1 Sudafed and 1 Benadryl ( and the tissues )and still qualify for the rebate ?

    • kim

sudafed is a qualifying item. you could buy 2 sudafed if you want it. the deal ideas just use benadryl as an example. buy what you will use.

  • Ruchama

There’s also a Shopmium rebate on Kleenex now.

  • Sarah

Anyone know if Children’s Benadryl would be included? In the terms, it states a Benadyl product, but I noticed it’s not pictured. Only Children’s Sudafed and Tylenol…

    • Sandy

Never look at the pictures only the wording :)

      • Sarah

        Good to know, thanks!

    • jane

children’s benadryl is pictured – the white/pink box in the back row

  • melissa

do we know if it is a visa that can be used for anything, or just gardening?

    • misterbill

As was mentioned earlier, they cannot restrict the card to specific items. I suppose it it possible they could restrict it to certain types of stores, but so many places sell gardening supplies, it would be almost impossible to do.

  • barbara

they shoprite price is now $3.99 ..

    • Melinda Dilione

      oh yay thanks!

      • Alyssa Cohen Kaplan

i bought 2 benadryls at $3.99 each. I then bought 6 kleenex tissues=you need 1 for this deal and if you buy 6 you get a catalina. In addition if you add items like cottonelle tissues there is a catalina for buy $25 get a $5.00 catalina on participating kimberly clark products

  • Mary

Love the dollar double shoprite locations! Bought two Benadryl (3.99) and Kleenex 1.67 Used 2 1/1 – Doubled Paid 5.65 so 14.35 mm for me!

    • Kari

This is my plan as well! Yay!

  • TIANNA

do you get the 20 gift card at the register or is it MIR?

    • Sandy

MIR with link above to print out form.

    • Melinda Dilione

It’s a mail in rebate so you will get it after you complete the form and follow the instructions – the gift card will be mailed to you

      • Joy

Does ‘include UPC codes’ mean cut them off the package and mail them in or just write down the upc codes and include with the mail in form? the form seems a little short on details.

        • Joy

nevermind! I failed to read the ‘terms and conditions’ page which points out they need to be cut out.

  • TIANNA

ok thank you .. i didnt see the form there

  • Chrissy

Don’t know why my previous comment didn’t post…..But did any1 actually get this visa GC yet? I went on their site to see if there was any tracking website that you usually get with MIR, but the offer ended. I sent mine out the first week of May……Just curious if any1 got an email or the GC itself

    • DianeG

On the bottom of the MIR form, there is a website listed. On the bottom the the first screen of the website is a 800 number and link for contact.
LRWC – please mark this deal as closed, expired etc… I don’t recall the offer saying “while supplies last” or redeemable only to the first so many customers. So I think this is dirty pool that they “ended” the offer due to “overwhelming demand.” I’m sure they covered themselves in their T&C’s, but I still on’t like it.

      • IK

There is the “while supply lasts”… Rats! So this means I shouldn’t be bothering mailing it in then?

        • DianeG

You’re right – Now, I see that on the secondary website, but “while supply lasts” is not on the rebate form where it should have been included. It’s worth a call to the 800 number (or email) to see if you purchased by a certain date, you could still submit – a long shot ? ‘Sorry to rant, this just one reason I don’t care for rebates, especially ones without tracking.

          • IK

Yeah, I think it’s worth a call… Thank u for the suggestion… As to rebates – I’ve been doing them for a long time, but IMO it didnt use to be like this…all those recent fiascos – first Zantac, now this! Sorry to rant ;)

          • Chrissy

I guess I’ll try calling them, but what a letdown…..Only reason I bought those products was for the GC…And I submitted it within the first week. Now I’m out money I could have used elsewhere….Live and learn

            • Chrissy

I just tried calling the 800 number, they directed me to HelloWorld, the distributor of the offer. I sent them an email and will let everyone know what they say.

              • IK

Chrissy – would you mind sharing the email address for HellowWorld – TIA!

                • Chrissy

The 800 number directed me to their website, its helloworld . com
On the left side of the page, theres a “contact us” button, thats what they told me to use, there was no specific email.

                  • IK

                    Thank you

  • Chrissy

Highly upset at this “promotion”. I sent an email over a week ago to the sponsor and I haven’t gotten any response yet. Will try to email again. Did any1 receive the Visa GC yet?

  • Joy

I called the 1-800 number on 5/9 to confirm what products were included (told not topicals) and that 1 could do offer once and my husband once with respective e-mails. I was NOT told the offer had ended so I mailed in the 1st one. On 5/17 I was set to mail in the 2nd set of UPC’s etc and decided to check the offer again to make sure I had met the terms and conditions and saw the Expired offer notice. Does anyone know on what date the offer expired?
of course I had allready removed the UPC’s from the packs so even tho I still had the receipt for the 2nd deal I couldn’t return the stuff. I was LIVID. I immediately wrote an e-mail to J&J/McNeil and told em what a fiasco this offer was from the lack of description of products included (or excluded!) to the vagueness of the date ‘offer ends 5/25/2014′ ….does that mean purchase by date, postmark by date, receive by date? I told them I wanted my money back for the Benadryl since I couldn’t return it and they eventually responded that they would reimburse me for the cost of the Benadryl by check. I have not yet received the check.
This is a YMMV situation. The 1st time I used the ‘Contact us’ page and was told to call them. I called them and didn’t get the answers I wanted so I found a ‘higher up’ person at J&J to e-mail and they did not respond but apparently they referred me back to Customer Care and that is when I got the e-mail stating they would reimburse me.
Assuming I get reimbursed, at least I’ll be no worse off then I was had I not attempted this offer (other than the cost of 2 boxes of tissues I needed anyway and a stamp).
    Highly frustrating however.

    • Chrissy

Would you mind giving me the phone number ? I called the 1-800 number promotion’s website, they said they were getting a lot of calls about it, but had no information because they did not sponsor the promotion. They sent me to the website of HelloWorld and told me to use the “contact us” option on the left side of the screen. That is what I used, and I haven’t heard anything from them. I did not see any number I could call. This promotion is so ridiculous. I would never had spent the $$ on those products. And when I sent out the form, there was NO indication that the promotion had expired.

      • Joy

here is the info I used from the bottom of the allergyreliefoffer dot com page:

This site is published by McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc., which is solely responsible for its contents.
This website is intended for visitors from the United States. Questions or comments? Call 1-800-962-5357 or click here for Customer Service.

        • misterbill

I’d suggest posting complaints on their Facebook page.

        • phoenix

just called and they offered me a $10 check as well thanks for the info

  • Danielle

Wait.. I am so confused. I understand that the offer expired prior to the original date posted (5/25) but when exactly did this offer expire and if you sent it in prior to the expiration are they going to honor it? I mailed mine on 5/5 to be exact – I bought the Allergy pills that I have no use for to do this – will I not get my $20 Visa? I bought 2 packs of Allergy pills and a box of tissues at CVS and used the Benadryl coupon, a 25% off CVS coupon and used $5 extra bucks I had and paid $2 something out of pocket…but I still used my $5 extra bucks for this so it’s more like I spent $7…on stuff I don’t need or want. Are they not honoring the deal?

    • misterbill

I don’t think anyone knows for sure at this point. I doubt anyone has received the Visa card or a rejection.

    • Amy Mac

Why would you buy products you don’t need or want? So now other people are having a problem getting a rebate because people like you submitting for a rebate on items you don’t need or want.

      • Sandy

Many couponers such as myself buy products they don’t need or want, especially if they are free or money makers and donate the items. The mfg has no idea that the purchaser has no need for these items nor do they care. Mfg put out these offers so consumers purchase their products with hope that they will buy again or refer product to others to buy. Please consider doing the same for unwanted products as churches and food banks are always looking for HABA products along with food. HTH!

      • barbara

no true the offer is expired . if you did not buy the products in the time frame you cant do it ..
Sandy didnt get the last visa card.. She didnt clear any shelf.. and there is no rule saying she has to use the products..

      • Danielle

Get off your high horse – a LOT of people did the same thing. Why would I not spend $2 something out of pocket to get back $20? I will do that all day everyday as would most people and you wouldn’t have done this deal if it wasn’t profitable for you either. Please. It’s not my fault, it’s the fault of the company that they didn’t prepare for the response they received.

        • Danielle

I meant to add – I didn’t just throw the allergy pills out – I keep asking friends/family if they need them and if I don’t find anyone, I plan to donate like I do with other items in the past I don’t need/want/use.

    • barbara

its expired because the purchase date has past.. It did state while supplies last so.. Yes the early bird gets the worm with these rebates..

  • Leslie

I am still waiting for my rebate card as well. I did this deal the end of April the week of the above post. Thanks for the heads up and if or when I receive my card I will surely post.

    • Sarah

Haven’t received mine yet either- says it should be received in 3 weeks… Sent my end of April as well!

      • Leslie

I guess we are all in the same boat. I hope it works for everyone.

  • dowman

got an email today saying “The offer was only good while supplies lasted, and due to an overwhelming response our supply of gift cards has been exhausted.” I had mailed my rebate in on 4/28/14

    • Danielle

I got an e-mail too, as did a family member who I suggested do the deal. This is BS – it’s one thing if you sent your info out right before the deal abruptly ended but to send it out within the first week? Ridiculous and inexcusable – how many people did they think would send in for gift cards? 50? I want the money back that I spent on the items as does my family member who I told about this..
Any ideas? The e-mail is a no reply so who do we contact?

      • Steven

I got that email today as well! I sent mine off 4/28. I do many rebates and this is the first time something has ever “run out”.

I use Benadryl sometimes but never buy the brand name because of the cost. What’s the point? Waste my money.

      • IK

I would suggest filing a complaint with the BBB. It usually works for me. Luckily, I never sent mine , and just returned them, but this is beyond imaginable…

      • Ruchama

I got the same email. I’d bought Zyrtec for the deal — I already had plenty of Benadryl, and there was a decent sale on Zyrtec that week, and I take Zyrtec every day, while I just take Benadryl once in a while.

    • Kari

      Me too, lame.

  • Flora

Don’t hold your breath on this one! Threaten them with small claims court. I once took a well known paint co. To court. They sent a lawyer but I won. If you have the time most towns only charge a few dollars to file and you can tell it to the judge!!!
Shame on this company! Don’t ever buy their products again!

  • c

Has anyone else received a letter saying the deal is over and they ran out of cards so alot of people will not be getting their cards???

  • laura

Mailed in my rebate 4/26 and got the email today that they “ran out”…5 days after promotion began??? This is crazy-I never buy name brand benadryl, always generic because of cost and now with UPCs cut off it can’t be returned. Furious!!!

  • misterbill

We need to figure out who to complain to. A Facebook page would be good. I’m not sure if it’s J&J, or something else. McNeill does not appear to have one of their own.

    • dowman

Zyrtec’s facebook page seems to be one place where the complaints are piling up

    • Laura D.

Misterbill – I caught the tail end of this the other night, it may help.

      http: // newyork.cbslocal .com/2014/05/29/seen-at-11-complaining-on-twitter-to-get-better-customer-service/

I guess I lucked out with this deal, I wasn’t able to get to the store to do it, lol.
Also, there is a comment above from Leslie that may help. Good Luck! :)

      • misterbill

Yes, sometimes the best deals are the ones you don’t do. I’m usually pretty good about sniffing out bad rebates, since I am long-time veteran of computer rebates. I never do the limited number deals from magazines, since I figure the odds of getting them are very slim. This one did not seem problematic, although I guess it did fall under the “too good to be true” category. That it’s from J&J, who I think has a track record of poor rebate handling, probably should have been a warning (but the fact that it was them was hidden).

PS Facebook complaints do also get results. I just posted on a bank’s page yesterday about how the local branch manager could not get a monthly fee reversed and told me to call customer service myself to try to get it done, and someone from the bank responded last night and will be calling me. I’ve also had success on Twitter, specifically with Verizon.

  • Njdevilku13

Any chance we could get some advice from LWRC people on how to proceed?

  • Janet Law

I also got an email. I had mailed mine in on 5/2. I am furious. What can we do?

    • Dot H

Janet call the 1-800 number on the email and they will send you a $10 check in the mail. Not $20 but better than $0

      • Danielle

Thank you! I just called and the person I spoke to was actually really nice and after I explained that running out of the Visa cards so early on was inexcusable and that I didn’t really have a need for allergy pills that I am now stuck with, she asked me about the products I bought and then wanted my information and when I asked why, she told me she was sending me a reimbursement check. I was shocked. I didn’t even have to mention it because I was prepared to fight for the $10 check that others are getting. I’m getting back $13 to cover the cost of the 2 packs of Benadryl that I didn’t want or need so it’s not $20 but it covers what I initially paid so …

It really is ridiculous though, that such a large company not only ran out but that they didn’t feel the need to shell out more money for more Visa cards to keep customers happy. We have yet to hear of ANYONE getting a Visa card yet the people would have had to have received them already. Maybe they looked at receipts and only awarded them to people who spent X amount of money or higher once it became clear that the response was more than they expected eliminating us couponers? I don’t know.

        • barbara

McNeil is running this not johnson & Johnson.. The emails have McNeil s contact info.

          • misterbill

But McNeil is owned by J&J.

            • dowman

When you call, It won’t hurt to let them know that you are fully aware that McNeil is owned by J&J and that you are going to think twice before buying any J&J products like Aveeno, Neutrogena, Listerine, Reach, Band-Aid brand, etc.

  • Leslie

I received the same email and I mailed my the end of April.

    • Leslie

PS. I just followed Dot H’s advice. I called the 800 number on the email I received. I had to press a lot of buttons but I finally got to speak to a “J&J specialist”. I told them I was upset about the promotion etc and that I could not return the Benadryl because they had my original receipt and ups codes. The specialist offered me coupons for more free Benadryl. I said I already had two new boxes and 48 pills why would I need more? The specialist at least the one who I spoke to was not forthcoming about sending a refund. I specifically asked her a couple of times for a refund instead of coupons for more Benadryl and she said she could send me $10. At least after all the aggravation this will be a $3.02 money maker.

      • phoenix

Leslie can you share 1800 number I’m so mad i was counting on those gift cards and sure don’t need anymore benadryl

        • Leslie

Hi Phoenix: Sorry about the delay, I just got home from work. The email is from McNeil but when you call the 800 number posted on the email many of us received, I was connected to a “J&J specialist”. The number is 1-800-962-5357. You have to press a lot of numbers to finally speak to someone. The person I spoke to was very polite, she apologized etc but like I said she was not forthcoming with a refund and wanted to give me coupons instead. I had to insist on a refund and then she finally acquiesced. She said she was authorized to refund only $10 which of course I thanked her for, however, Danielle, who replied to Dot H, below this post, is being sent $13 instead of $10. Obviously we spoke to different representatives. I hope you get the same person Danielle spoke to. Please let us know the outcome of your call and best of luck!

    • Cheri

Me too – this is horse crap ! I would love to hear if anyone DID get the $20 Visa.

  • Janet Law

Just called 800-962-5357 to complain. They offered to send me $10.00. Better than nothing. I asked how many gift cards were actually sent and Shelley could not tell me. Certainly not a good way to treat customers.

  • natasha

I just called the the 1 800 number they gave me the $10 check, I didn’t even have to ask for it, seems like they are being told to give it out.

  • Chrissy

Just got off the phone with them. Very nice guy named Casey. He said they had an “alarmingly overhwelming” response to the rebate offer, but they are sending out $10.00 checks to anyone who is requesting it. I used the 1-800-962-5357 number…..

  • Sandy

I just noticed that I got this email 4 days ago on my coupon email acct! I mailed in my rebate on 4/30/14.

We’re happy to let you know that the $20 VISA® gift card you redeemed in The Upper Respiratory “Real Facts, Real Relief” Offer Program is on its way!

    • Leslie

Congratulations, I am truly happy to hear that this promotion actually worked!

  • Jim

So what is your plan – call and get the $10, wait a while to see if they pony up the $20 they were supposed to??

    • Kathy

If you got denied like most have for a limited time they are giving the $10 check for people who call. So you can either call and get a few bucks back or wait and get nothing.

      • misterbill

What’s interesting is that I don’t think they’re actually checking to see if you submitted and got rejected when you call for the $10. This could potentially end up costing them more than it would have had they honored all of the $20 gift card submissions. I posted of FB and they contacted me and asked for my mailing info to send me a $10 check.

  • Mina

Can anyone please post phone number to call. Thanks

  • Chrissy

I have some new information….I just got an email from them stating that any1 who submitted their rebate before 5/25/2014 will be getting their $20 rebate…Gonna paste the email below, check your emails!!! Very pleased that they are honoring this promotion for those who did it within the required timeframe.

    Dear Consumer,

We truly apologize for all of the frustration that this Allergy rebate promotion has caused. Our intent behind this promotion was to provide value to those shoppers who purchase multiple products, never to mislead you.

We didn’t anticipate the overwhelming response to this promotion and as a result, ran out of rebate supplies much faster than planned. Your feedback helped us to identify the issue, and encouraged us to modify our program guidelines to ensure that all qualified submissions for the rebate are fulfilled.

What does this mean for you? If you mailed in a qualifying submission before the program end date of 5/25/2014 and did not receive your $20 rebate, we are processing your rebate now. You should receive your rebate shortly.

If you have any questions at all, please call our Consumer Call Center at 877-414-7709. This is a dedicated line that we have created specifically to help you with this rebate issue. Or, you may contact us through www dot ccc-consumercarecenter dot com.

We are so very sorry for disappointing you. Thank you again for bringing this issue to our attention. Your feedback has helped us learn, and we will be applying these learnings to all future promotions.

LRWC team, I reposted w/o the email address, so you can ignore the duplicate post that is pending approval…Thanks!

    • Sandy

Me too! Good job McNeil Consumer Healthcare!

    • Danielle

I just received this as well… and while I am glad that the companies are going to do the right thing… I am wondering, what about those $10+ reimbursement checks that many of us called about? I hope that that doesn’t mess up us getting the $20 Visa cards. I wonder if I should call and ask what’s going to happen with those people who called to complain and were going to get rebate checks. I don’t need both but I want to make sure I am going to get the $20 Visa and not the reimbursement check for less.

      • misterbill

I think that calling will only confuse the issue. Wait and see what you get. If you get extra money, do what you consider appropriate with the extra.

    • Cheri

I also got this email today ! Now I feel kida bad about the bad review I gave them on FB.

      • Harry

dont feel bad. its only because of bad reviews are they giving the rebate now to those who qualified. I still would give a not-so good review even if I did get the rebate though may not be as bad if I had not got it. If this rebate had just worked without folks complaining, thats the only time they would get a good review from me – maybe next year.

    • Leslie

I also received this email today and I did call for a $10 refund. Perhaps we will be getting the $20 gift card instead of the $10 check? Power to the LRWC community and all the other consumers who made calls to McNeil’s (J&J’s)customer service. I can only surmise that our complaints were heard and it pays to speak up. We made a collective difference.

    • Sandy

In Saturdays mail I received my $10 check for one of the rebates I had sent in and called them about. Will be curious to see if the $20 GC shows up also.

      • Danielle

Are you going to cash that check or wait and see if you get the $20 Visa first this way if you don’t end up getting it, you can call and complain and say you want the $20 instead or the extra $10 they owe you?

        • Sandy

Good idea. I’ll sit on it for a bit and see what happens. If no GC then I will call to complain.

          • Danielle

I received a check today for the balance of the $20 that they owed me so they are taking into account whatever rebate/reimbursement you may have already gotten so you should expect a check for $10. When you receive it, cash both at the same time.

            • Leslie

Ditto for me. I received my second $10.00 check today.!

              • Chrissy

                Same for me got 2 $10.00 checks…..

            • Sandy

Same here. Got $10 on Monday and $10 today. Thanks for the follow up.

  • Harry

With no communication so far and me having no time to call them I almost gave up, but got this email today:

    We’re
happy to provide you with your $20 rebate for your participation in the
Allergy Relief Offer. Please use the promotional code at www dot prepaidcodecenter dot com to redeem. We care about our consumers and thank you for your business.

with which then leads to an option of electronic or plastic card.
