Wawona Packing Co. Peaches, Plums, Nectarines and Pluots Recall

Wawona Packing Co. is voluntarily recalling white and yellow peaches, white and yellow nectarines, plums and pluots that were packed at its Cutler, California warehouses between June 1 and July 12.  The fruit was shipped directly to retailers and wholesalers who resell the products.  The products were sold at BJ’s, Trader Joe’s, ShopRite, Kroger, Wegmans, Costco and other locations.   Some stores, such as Whole Foods and Wegmans are also recalling several varieties of their “made in store” baked goods that may contain the contaminated fruit.

Wawona Packing Co. has issued this nationwide recall due to the potential risk of listeria contamination.  Wawona Packing has notified their retailers of the specific lots.  The products were packed under a variety of brands, including Wawona’s Sweet 2 Eat and Harvest Sweet labels, in bags, boxes and clamshells, as well as bulk lots.

Stores like ShopRite and Kroger will contact customers through store loyalty cards if they believe you have purchased the recalled fruit.  Its important to keep your store loyalty card information up-to-date so you can receive these notifications.

If you have purchased the recalled fruit, do not eat it.  Throw it away.  Most stores will issue a full refund if you have purchased the affected fruit.
