Nutek Disposables, Inc. of McElhattan, PA has initiated a nationwide voluntary recall of all baby wipes under the brand names of Cuties, Diapers.com, Femtex, Fred’s, Kidgets, Member’s Mark, Simply Right, Sunny Smiles, Tender Touch and Well Beginnings.  The recalled wipes were sold both online and in-store at Walgreens, Sam’s Club, Family Dollar, Fred’s and Diapers.com.

Nutek Disposables received a number of complaints of odor and discoloration of the wipes.  Tests revealed the presence of a bacteria – Burkholderia cepacia (B. cepacia).  This bacteria poses no risk to healthy people but can cause problems for people with weakened immune systems or lung issues.  The company has received complaints of rash, irritation, infections, fever, gastrointestinal and respiratory issues although it has not been confirmed to be related to the use of the recalled products.
