Apple Recall 1-2015

Bidart Bros. Granny Smith, Gala and Caramel Apples Recall

In recent weeks, certain brands of prepackaged caramel apples have been causing illness and some deaths due to listeria contamination.  After investigations, the FDA and CDC have linked the nationwide listeria outbreak to Bidart Brothers in Bakersfield, CA.  The recall has now expanded and is no longer limited to caramel apples.

Bidart Bros. have now recalled all of their Granny Smith, Gala and Caramel Apples.  Consumers should not eat any of the apples being recalled by Bidart Bros.  The apples have been sold under the brand names of Big B and Granny’s Best but could also be sold under other brand names, or no name at all.

If you have recently purchased any Granny Smith or Gala apples, ask the retailer if the apples were supplied by Bidart Bros.  Other varieties of apples and apples from other growers are not affected by this recall.
