Cindy’s Shopping Trip

I was a big spender yesterday when I did some shopping.  I paid a whopping $0.64 out of pocket. Love those days!

Yesterday I stopped at CVS to grab some free bags of Gold Emblem Abound popcorn.  I had more coupons but I was only able to score 2 because that is all they had. No worries, I’m hanging onto my coupons for next week.

Dollar Tree was my next stop.  I usually try to stop there every couple of weeks to see what they have that is new.  I was able to score the FREE Lime-A-Way this time. Stock is so different at each store so it’s always hit or miss.

Since there is an A&P in the same complex as Dollar Tree by me,  I decided to stop in and see what was left and the prices.  Plastered all over the windows were signs saying 40-70% off with 60% off frozen foods. I thought I would be able to find some great deals but guess what…I walked out with nothing.

Thankfully I am very aware of prices and what prices I can get for items when they go on sale. I could not believe how much they jacked up the prices to put them on these “clearance” prices.  Store brand ice cream for $2.20 after discounts? What?! That is more expensive then a regular sale at ShopRite. The sad part is, people were loading up their carts with products.  I wanted to get on the store announcement speaker and say….”attention all customers, these prices are not as good as you think. Don’t fall for the “clearance” prices”.  Know your prices before you head to any type of clearance sale. Sigh!

I didn’t have to buy a lot this week but I am in need of a bunch of things so it looks like next week will be a bigger shopping week for me. I always say, best way to save money on your groceries is when you don’t have to shop for much. That, my friends, is the power of the stockpile!

Here are my breakdowns:

 My Grocery Envelope:

Amount leftover from last transaction (includes rewards & rebates)    $84.91
Amount added for new week (added every Sunday) $0
Total Amount available for shopping (includes rewards & rebates) $84.91
Cash used out of pocket $0.64
Rewards Used $5
Rewards Earned $5
Amount left in envelope (including Rewards & Rebates $84.27
