Children’s Cough Syrup Recall
It’s cold season at my house and probably at yours too. For parents, especially, the relief cough and cold medicine supplies to both their patient (their child) and themselves is hard to deny. But there is such a thing as too much of a good thing and users of CareOne children’s cough syrup are at risk of just that.
Last week, Ahold, the parent company of Stop&Shop and Giant Food stores, issued a voluntary recall of its CareOne Children’s Mucus Relief Cough Syrup – Cherry Flavor because the dosage cups were improperly marked, leading to the potential for an overdose of the medicine.
Here are all the details for the recall:
Product: CareOne Children’s Mucus Relief Cough Syrup – Cherry Flavor, 4 oz.
UPC Code: 34152031837
Date Code: ALL date codes
Expiration: 3/17
Consumers are urged to return the affected product to the Stop&Shop/Giant location where is was originally purchased for a full refund. No adverse affects from this product have been reported at this time, however anyone who suspects that such an overdose occurred, should contact a medical professional regarding signs and symptoms to watch out for. For more information on how to contact the company, see the original Stop&Shop press release, here.
