Wegmans Chicken Recall

The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced yesterday that Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. is recalling approximately 1,125 pounds of its various chicken products which were produced and distributed without the benefit of inspection. The issue, according to FSIS, is a result of a changed production schedule at the chicken processing facility. The affected chicken products were produced outside of approved hours of operation.

The chicken products being recalled are as follows:

  • Approximately 1-lb. vacuum-sealed packages containing “Wegmans Italian Flavored Chicken Breast Cutlet” with a use-by date of 1/24/2016.

  • Approximately 1-lb. vacuum-sealed packages containing “Wegmans Brown Sugar Barbecue Seasoned Chicken Breast Cutlet” with a use-by date of 1/15/2016.

  • 3-lb. vacuum-sealed packages containing “Wegmans Garlic & Fennel Whole Chicken Roaster” with a use-by date of 1/13/2016.

  • 1-lb. vacuum-sealed packages containing “Wokery Sherry Chicken 27482” with use-by date of 1/13/2016.

These products were produced on January 3, 2016 and distributed to retailers in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, and Massachusetts. Each product has the establishment’s number, “EST. or P-7567” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Consumers who posses the affected chicken products are urged not to consume them, but rather return them to the store for a full refund. Though no adverse reactions have been reported at this time, anyone with any concerns should speak to a medical professional immediately.
