Britax Stroller RecallThousands of B-Agile and BOB Motion Strollers Affected

Last week, Britax and the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a voluntary recall of more than 600,000 strollers. The affected strollers may present a fall hazard when used as a travel system connected to an infant car seat.

The recall only affects two Britax stroller models, the B-Agile and BOB Motion, and only when they are used with Click & Go Receivers as an infant travel system. According to a report from CNN, more than 676,000 strollers in the U.S. are affected by this recall. In addition, some 41,000 strollers in Canada and Mexico are also included. The strollers in question have been in stores since 2011. Retailers who carried these models include Toys R Us, Buy Buy Baby, Amazon, and Target.

What Went Wrong

Britax stresses that the strollers themselves are safe. In fact, parents and caregivers can continue to use their B-Agile or BOB Motion for their infants, so long as they do not use the Click & Go feature and infant car seat. Infants can safely ride in the stroller itself, using the reclined position.

According to the company, the damage to the stroller is limited to its Click & Go pieces. Damaged pieces have caused car seats to randomly disengage, presenting a fall hazard. Apparently, storing or dropping the stroller when the Click & Go system if it is connected can lead to damage to the latches. To remedy this, Britax has redesigned the connection of the Click & Go to make it more secure.

How to Fix Your Recalled Briax Stroller

Parents and caregivers who have a Britax B-Agile or BOB Motion should start by checking to see if they have one of the affected models. The full list is available on the Britax site. If your model is included, contact Britax  at 1-844-227-0300 or [email protected] for a repair kit.

In addition, if your stroller is among those recalled, the company recommends you do the following:

  1. Do NOT dispose of your stroller or return it to the retailer
  2. Do disconnect and dispose of your Click & Go attachments
  3. Once you receive the repair kit, follow the printed instructions to safely install it

In addition, Britax has provided consumers with a video detailing the issues with the current strollers. It also reviews a step-by-step method for reinstalling the new Click & Go connectors. You can view it below:
