We Have Had a Rough Fall

<-----------See this handsome young man. This is my son Patrick from one of his senior pictures. He is a wonderful young man. Kind, considerate, a leader and a great athlete. He has wonderful qualities however lately he has been causing me many, many sleepless nights. From his football injury last month and now the car accident he was just in on Friday night. We arrived at the scene of the accident knowing the he was okay. What we saw when we arrived was more then I could handle. The entire front end of the car was completely gone. Completely! Just a pile of metal. Tires deflated, pieces of the car all over the road. But my son and his friend, who was a passenger in the car, did not have a scratch on them except for a bumped knee and a burn on the hand (from the airbag). They were able to open the doors without a problem. No glass was broken. I am simply amazed, grateful and thanking God every second. The airbags opened and not one bit of the main passenger area compressed but there was nothing left of the front of the car. It was as if they were in a bubble being protected. If you are looking for a car for your teen, I would highly recommend a Jeep Liberty. Their crash safety record was proven this weekend. It truly saved my son and his friend. We will find out this week how much damage there was but my gut tells me it is totaled.

Can I tell you that life was so much easier when they were babies. I knew where they were, what they were doing. Now, instead of getting up in the middle of the night for feedings or nightmares, I’m up all night with visions of football injuries and car accidents. {sigh}
