McNeil Consumer Healthcare Announces Voluntary Recall of Certain OTC Infants’ and Children’s Products

McNeil Consumer Healthcare is recalling Infants’ and Childrens’ Liquid Tylenol, Motrin, Zyrtec and Benadryl as a precautionary measure because they may not meet required quality standards. There have been no illnesses reported, however the company advises consumers who have purchased these recalled products to discontinue using them and return them to the store for a refund. You can head over here to find out additional information including a list of recalled products.

For ShopRite shoppers, no receipt is needed to return these items. I’m sure other stores will do the same but I have not heard confirmation.  If you have been able to return without a receipt at your store please let us know.

My husband returned three bottles of tylenol (2 opened, 1 unopened) without a receipt to Walgreens tonight. They gave him a store credit for $23 and change. Hope this helps someone!

I also returned 2 bottles to Walgreens today w/o a problem. I did have a receipt as I purchased them just last week (using a great coupon deal!) but the cashier said it wasn’t necessary.

Found 4 products in my house tonight and forwarded your announcement to all of my friends. Thank you so much!

Thanks so much for posting this. Just got back from the hospital with my daughter who has pneumonia and because of you I was able to avoid giving her the recalled meds, thanks!

  • I had 6 of the recalled meds on the list. I called the 888 number listed on the McNeil website and they will send you coupons for full product replacement. You just have to provide them with the NDC and Lot#’s listed on the bottle.
