Saturday 2/14/15:

Passport To Art

Cost:  $5-10
Description:  Passport to Art invites families to be creative together! These interactive workshops are conducted by trained educators and artists. Advanced registration is required and each session is limited to 20 participants (appropriate for 5-13YO).  Saturday’s topic is: Creating a Still Life.
Location: Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers, 71 Hamilton Street, New Brunswick, NJ
Time:  1 pm – 2:30 pm

Snakes and Turtles of NJ

Cost:  $6/person
Description:  Find out what turtles and snakes have in common and where they go for the winter months. Meet live snakes and turtles from Trailside’s reptile collection.
Location: Trailside Nature and Science Center, 452 New Providence Road, Mountainside, NJ

Sunday 2/15/15:

Make Your Own Materials Weekend

Cost: FREE
Description: Families will learn how to make play dough, sidewalk chalk and stickers. Homemade is a frugal and environmentally friendly alternative to many commercial art materials. Participants will use simple materials that most families already have in their home, making these easily adaptable for at-home art projects. Children will enjoy making their art supplies just as much as they enjoy using them.
Location: Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center, 1100 Village Drive , Millville, NJ

Birding Basics with L.L. Bean

Cost:  FREE
Description:  Learn how to use binoculars to your best advantage, and how to recognize common local birds on the wing and while perched. A short birding walk will take it out of the classroom and into the field to test your skills. The Outdoor Discovery School of the L.L. Bean Freehold will provide a fun and interactive workshop
Location: Plainsboro Preserve, 80 Scotts Corner Road, Plainsboro, NJ
