5 Tips to Save 75% or more on Thanksgiving Dinner

Attention Better CT viewers! Today on the show I shared 5 tips to save over 75% on your Thanksgiving Dinner as well as some great deals you can score this week.

My tips are as follows:

Tip #1: Make a Simple Shopping Plan

Know your circular and make a shopping list based on the best prices for that week. Keeping your menu simple and based on the sales prices is a huge savings.

Tip #2 Don’t Buy Premade

Most of the time buying premade will cost you much more. Take the 5 lb box of Sweet Potatoes on sale this week at ShopRite for just $2.49. Use this 5 lb box to make your mashed potatoes, Sweet Potato Pie and even an appetizer like Sweet Potato chips. Buying those three items premade could be a savings of as much as $30.

Tip #3: Get a Free Turkey

Take advantage of store promotions where you can score a FREE bird! ShopRite has a promotion that when you spend $400 from October 16th – November 24th you get a FREE All Natural Frozen Turkey any size up to 21 lbs OR Save $1.49/lb off any other fresh, frozen or Kosher turkey (up to 21 lbs). Turkey not your thing? See your local circular for additional items included in the promotion.

Tip #4: Buy Seasonal Fruits & Vegetables

One of the most popular Thanksgiving side dishes is green bean casserole. But, did you know that green beans are a summer vegetable and are much more expensive this time of year?

November is a prime month for brussel sprouts, potatoes, sweet potatoes, winter squash, parsnip, carrots, apples and pears. Stick to side dishes using these vegetables for big savings.

Tip #5: Double Up on Savings

Sales are great but to help maximize your savings, use coupons and rebate apps. Stacking a sale with a store coupon, a manufacturer coupon and a rebate app like Ibotta are awesome ways to save tons on your groceries.
