Holy moly! Four free bars? And I love this soap. I would buy it for $2.99 -$2 coups! A whole bunch.

  • No way

I seriously doubt four will be free…..limit four is just in reference to the sale at $2.99 for those who don’t clip the eQ…

    One will be free…

    • Jen

      I agree!

    • MisterBill

If the e-coupon is good for 4 free bars, stores will be cleaned out without an hour of opening on Sunday.

      • becky

since it is already loadable, couldn’t it be used already this week? it is not on sale, but maybe it would take off the whole current price anyway?

        • MisterBill

Certainly worth a shot to see what it takes off. Although it says free, no one knows what the max value is coded as. Obviously if it’s free before the sale starts you can avoid the problem of the store running out of then on Sunday. Only downside if you’re in NY or NJ is sales tax on the higher amount. But it would still be a MM.

        • Karen

The regular price this week is $5.99. If you try buying this week, please share whether digital takes off $2.99 or $5.99. TIA.

          • sandyk

It will probably take off $2.99 because if you look in the left corner of the digital coupon where the value of the coupon is, it says $2.99.

            • becky

that corner value is not always accurate. have had other freebie/bogo ecoupons where it said $1 in the corner. the item cost more than that, and a higher value came off. so i only trust the $ amount in the “fine print”, and in this case, that just says “free”.

              • becky

well, now that they changed the wording on the ecoupon, looks like it is just for $2.99. and, of course, we have a report here from a trial run. they must have had some complaints today. wish they could make adjustments in our favor that quickly! 😀

    • Barbara

the eCoupon its self says limit 4. There was a kelloggs eCoupon a few weeks ago that was the same way. They all had to be purchased in the same transaction. The Sale price has its own limit 4.

    • MisterBill

Wrong. E-coupon is posted and it’s limit 4.

  • Kate

Not sure the $2 MQ will work, after DQ comes off. Hope so. Printed 2, but won’t be surprised since there was trouble this week with Nivea silk mousse being a MM.

    • MisterBill

The paper coupon and e-coupon will work fine together. It’s YMMV on whether your store notices the MM and refuses to scan the paper coupons. If the coupons beep, then it could be a problem.

    • Karen

The Nivea silk mousse deal worked fine for me this week – both $2/1 digital and printable came off without issue. From the posts here, I think the problems were due to either 1 of the varieties (almond?) not being coded for the digital coupon and/or buying 3 Nivea mousse/body wash and the way they attached when both digital cpns ($3/2 and $2/1) were used.

      • MisterBill

Well, that’s an e-coupon issue, and Kate was saying she had concerns about the paper coupon. Interesting that names I don’t typically see posting here are the ones who think this deal won’t work.

        • Karen

Agree. I was trying to say (not very clearly lol) that the issue seemed to be with the e-cpn coding and not with the Nivea mousse paper cpn/e-cpn combo. Every deal is different. I’ll be happy if I at least find 4 CeraVe bars on the shelf and they are free!

  • MisterBill

The e-coupon is available and it really is limit 4.

    • frink

      thank you

      • frink

I think it disappeared…? I can’t find my clipped coupon now.

        • Yan

It’s in my app. But they changed the wording. Used to say free, now it says save $2.99

        • Susan Scatena

If they are out of stock, do they give rainchecks on free items that are digital?

          • Sandy

Yes. My store had them in customer service/courtesy and not telling anyone as dollar store owners were using their 30 pp cards and wiping them out so check with courtesy.

  • Karen Tranghese Perry

DO NOT do this deal before Sunday! It is only taking $2.99 off. My store has them at $5.99 this week. My CS was printing up notices to put at the registers after I complained that it didn’t take the full $5.99 off. It DID come off 4 times, so that part is working as advertised. Now I probably lost my coupon from my card, but the CS folks swore they would both be there on Sunday and would remember me. Won’t do me much good if the shelf is cleared, however (today they had a ton of them stocked)!

    • MisterBill

Thanks for the info. you should have voided out the order once you saw that it only took $2.99 off. Sorry you had to be the guinea pig. Did you ask them to give you the extra $12 (4x$3)?

    • becky

thanks so much for trying and reporting. too bad it didn’t work out better for you. hopefully they keep it well stocked!

    • MisterBill

BTW did you use the paper coupons? if so, they they scan ok?

      • Karen Tranghese Perry

I used the coupons at the register, but they beeped and the cashier had to ask the head cashier if the coupons even applied to the bars, since the bars weren’t shown on the coupon. I suspect that unless you have a cashier friend, the money-maker aspect of this deal isn’t going to work…

        • MisterBill

Ugh.. wish I knew that before I printed mine. They’re probably not coded to work on the bars and now the wording matches the coding. Agree that the MM deal is pretty much dead.

    • Jenna

Thanks for the information. If CS promised they would remember you, they should have either held four bars aside for you or allowed you to return and repurchase on Sunday while honoring the e-coupon.

  • IK

if there is not enough stock for this, they would really be in a hard spot, because they would have to at the very least give those who were not able to get the deal credit in t he amount of $12 – otherwise it becomes kind of bait and switchish. of course, folks here want to have the mm, not just free, but i am saying it is in their best interest to provide sufficient stock…

    • sandyk

I checked to see if they had any in stock today and there were only 4 sitting on the shelf. The digital coupon expires 10/28 so getting a raincheck isn’t an option if you want to get 4 free.

      • IK

agree, but I was not implying the raincheck route. I was referring to the corporate, and their options to handle lack of stock for something that is advertised yet not available. The only way they could make it up to you is by providing a credit/gift card in that amount.

    • Karen

I don’t get rain checks very often… just curious – any idea if a rain check allows me to purchase for free the CeraVe even if the e-cpn expires?

      • IK

i’m sure they will refuse the raincheck – hope I am wrong. but, again, that could be easily fixed by contacting the corporate 🙂

        • MisterBill

I’m sure they will only give a rain check for the $2.99 price, not the e-coupon.

          • IK

i am not suggesting getting a raincheck AT ALL! my response above was to Karen who asked about a raincheck. I am suggesting contacting corporate (if you are unable to get the items) and , most likely, getting a gift card for the amount of $12.

          • Karen

Thanks… i thought this might be the case. I’m not too familiar with rainchecks.

        • Karen

          Thanks. 🙂

      • becky

the ad does not say it, for the sale price, but the details on the (reworded) ecoupon say while supplies last, so they may use that to deny issuance of rainchecks (at least for the freebie).

    • becky

they have very little shelf space for this item, at least in my store. they would need to have special displays or fill the endcaps. let’s see if that happens…

      • Barbara A.

Yes, the store that I was in today had a lot of them on an end cap. But when people take more than 4 at a time it will be cleared Sunday.

    • Selma

Usually my store gets a huge shipment of these when a great deal like this comes and stocks the end cap full of them, hoping the same happens again this time!

  • Daniel Aquino

huh the coupon excludes the Hydrating Cleanser Bar

    • IK

it did not before. i printed mine few days ago and the only exclusion is travel size…

      • Daniel Aquino

yea they prob caught on to this already, Pretty sure they have people roaming these groups for any type of info, I think it will still scan tho

  • Daniel Aquino
    • Joan

Mine dont say excluding hydrating bar. I printed mine a few days ago.

  • Chayne

They changed the wording on the ip, but the barcode is still exactly the same.
I’m curious if they sent out notices and will be asking for these to be denied?
I’ll be waiting to see the feedback when people shop on Sunday.

    • IK

yes, something is definitely up for them to change the wording 🙁

      • Chayne

I’ll definitely be recording every transaction I do with these coupons. Proof is always a great thing to have.

        • IK

sorry, i’m confused – what do you mean? proof of what?

          • Chayne

Proof of anybody giving a difficult time with the coupons, or trying to deny the coupons when it’s not excluded on the coupon itself.

            • IK

oh, ok…the problem with shoprite deal is they would have the right to deny these based on the fact you are getting them free, and there is nothing we could do, unfortunately…

      • D

The $7/2 Cerave coupon on cdc from a few weeks ago also excluded travel/trial size and the cleaner bar – given the fact that Karen who tested the deal already posted this morning that the original worded coupon beeped, it is most likely that it was always intended not to be applied to the bars but they forgot to add that and did so after – nothing to do w/ the SR deal.
As reported, the bar code seems to be the same on both versions – and it seems that both won’t auto work with the bars rather than the other way around.

If you get a cashier or manager that knows that this is a freebie at SR this week, I don’t see them pushing it through. Same if you get a cashier who upon the beep will then check your order on screen to see the reason for the beep rather than auto call over for help which seems to be the MO of the cashiers by me and will catch the freebie $2.99 digital that came off per bar and then upon further inspection, see that $2.99 is the price of the bar and reject the coupon.

        • IK

          Agreed 🙁

          • MisterBill

Ugh, I can see this whole thing turning into a MAJOR disaster at the store, especially given that it seems to have attracted a number of newbies (or at least new to posting, maybe they’ve been lurking).

Very disappointed that no one tested the coupon to see if it worked w/o beeping (even at regular price) before posting this deal.

And even worse, no one from LRWC has addressed the wording change on the coupon.

            • IK

Yeah…On the bright side – got response from catalina re Quaker – getting mine…

              • MisterBill

That’s good. I’m a week behind you on that :).

              • Karen

                Nice!

              • Lesley

Was the Quaker Catalina for purchasing 2? If so, I should try submitting my receipt to them.

                • MisterBill

Has to be submitted within 7 days so hopefully you bought on Sunday.

                • IK

Yes, but hurry, they now only allow 7 days post transaction to submit. It is actually spend $5 get $1.5 (which you did :))

                  • Lesley

Thank you! I did my purchase last Sunday. Just submitted my receipt!

      • Karen

The $3 CeraVe cpn in this weekend’s insert also states it excludes the cleanser bars. Hope my store has them, free will be good enough!

    • MisterBill

I intend to be at a self-scan store on Sunday to use these. Unless SR does something to block usage of them (like they stopped doubling of the Arnold bread coupons that are coded to double), hopefully I will not have any problems with them.

      • amanda

My Arnold’s bread coupons doubled yesterday. Also my mom bought the cerave soap yesterday. It was 5.99-2.99 dq -$2 mfc, it worked for her no issues. We we both love the soap and is essential for the winter. $4 oop was worth it for her since she was actually able to buy it. Tons of stock at chestnut newark de shoprite on friday.

        • MisterBill

That’s interesting about the Arnold’s bread coupon doubling. Did it say DND?

Also did the $2 CeraVe coupon beep? I can see them pushing it thru when it’s not already free.

We miss tax-free shopping in Delaware. Visited there regularly when my son was a student at UD :).

          • Jenna

My Arnold coupon doubled last week and it said DND at the top.

            • amanda

Not sure what paper because I buy only what I need from a clipping service but it says do not double at the top and exp date 1/8/18. I did self check out and it said on the screen this coupon is not valid on the items purchased.

              • Jenna

Hi Amanda, I’m in NW NJ and I used the self-check as well. My coupons would have come from the Newark Star-Ledger, Record or Herald. I just checked the expiration on a couple of coupons that I did not use and they expire on 11/13/17 and 12/10/17. Did the attendant double the coupon for you?

                • amanda

I did self checkout in four seasons in newark de. No issues doubling. I have been to an attendant maybe a month ago and no issues.

                  • Jenna

What happened when you received the error message about not being valid on the items purchased?

        • Mark

I shop at that SR and my Arnold coupons never double. BTW, what paper do you buy on Sundays?

  • Peggle

Man, I would give anything to have a Shoprite in Va. They have the best deals and seem so easy to work with.

  • Joanna

Guys please explain something to me. I am new to the couponing and I am not sure what means Money Maker under the offers. How do I actually make the money and where. To me the product is just simply for free and I am not getting any money… Maybe stupid question but I am originally from Poland and we dont have coupons there. This is all new to me.. Even the language so forgive any mistakes I made in thes comment

    • Ashleen O’Reilly

In most instances it means you can use the “extra” money towards something else in your cart. Some places will actually give you the difference.

    • Jessie

In this case, it refers to an offer where there are both digital coupons and a paper coupon for the same item that add up to more than the price of the item. If both come off, you will have overage which you can use for another item bought at the same time. You must make sure to purchase something to cover the overage, since the store will not actually give you money back if your total becomes negative.

In other instances, it can refer to an offer in which you get a coupon back for your next purchase, like Extrabucks at CVS or a Catalina coupon at Shoprite. If you pay $2 for the item, but get back a $5 coupon, it is considered a $3 money maker. Again, you don’t get the actual money, but since you can use the coupon to save your actual money next time you shop, we consider it a money maker.

  • sandyk

Anybody try this? Somebody on facebook said their store had a sign saying that it was a mistake and that you could only get one free using the digital coupon.

    • Leetz Beetz

My store only allowed me to purchase one. I had all four but the Ecpn would only take off one. I Pointed to the ad and where it said “limit 4” but her and the manager said I could get 4 bars of soap but only one would be free. Which is completely wrong.

    • Chappsticky

it literally says on the Ecoupon that you can get 4 bars for free, as long as it is one transaction.

    • Jenna

Hi Sandy, I did this morning and had no problem buying four on each card…no tax – completely free. In fact, I had my purchases held aside and the CS rep said that she was surprised that SR was allowing four free and it was a customer who brought it to her attention so she went and purchased four for herself. Also, the HABA manager knew of the sale and ordered accordingly.

  • Bunch

I bought 4 of the soaps and the e-coupon came off all of them. I didn’t want to deal with the printable coupon because it seemed like a possible disaster to me. I was happy with free.

  • Laura D.
    • Mary

I bought two bars this morning – and had 2 2$ off coupons. Both beeped, but the cashier pushed them through since they were printed before they changed the coupons to read not on cleanser bars.

    • America Jones

Same sign at my store, but right below the empty shelf. haha

  • Rebecca Kalmer Tipa

It worked in West Nyack. Bought 4, and 4 eq of $2.99 each came off. I printed earlier in the week before the wording changed. 4 printed coupons beeped but cashier put them through.

  • Maya

Worked for me this morning, printed the 4 coupons last week and went to self checkout. The coupons didn’t go through at first so the assistant had to come do it manually. I bought the 3 Poland spring 24 case bottles for a total of $1 after $8MM, and 3 for $9 in ad coupon.

  • kenneyt

My store of course had none of these and the customer service was miserable and not being nice to people. I actually went to the store on Friday and they had none then. Only space to hold maybe 10. Was hoping they would get more but of course they didn’t. Guess I’ll try later in the week.

    • Jasmin

What store did you go to? My shoprite in PA had a whole shelf of them coming into the store

      • kenneyt

In in Nj. They had a small space for the bars, which was empty since Friday. The CS was not very pleasant and just was telling people “We don’t have them”.

  • Karen

Bought 4 CeraVe bars… digital came off all 4, 4 printables beeped but received override. If you do small orders like me and shop in CT, be sure to plan for the $.51 negative tax (so $8.51 total overage). As an added bonus, the 2.7oz Eucerin hand cremes that have been out-of-stock for 2 weeks so I was able to buy 1 finally (small mm). Great products that I use, love the deals!

    • America Jones

So glad this one worked out for you! =D

  • Em

I got 4 today but the coupons beeped and the cashier or supervisor wouldn’t override it. She said it’s already free so that’s why it didn’t go thru but of course I know that’s not true…oh well it’s free!

    • Ash Patel

that is true they beep because the price is already free they get a message on their screen saying that it exceeds the max vaule of the item.

      • sam

they beeped when people used them last week when the product was not free even after ecoupon and coupon. the coupon just beeps for this product.

        • Ash Patel

thank you for letting me know!! =)

        • MisterBill

Yes, it is unfortunate that piece of info was not in this post.

      • IK

The beep is not price related. Just coded to exclude the bar soap.

        • Ash Patel

oh thank you for the info =)

  • JJ

Our store refused the coupons because the bars were already free. It looked like the store policy this time.

    • MisterBill

Yes, I also didn’t get mine overridden. Having the item already be free makes it a real YMMV. I guess if you didn’t scan your card until after the coupons were overridden you might have a chance, but that assumes that whoever is doing the override doesn’t know about the offer.

  • Aggi

    Same here…refused the coupons!

  • Fartface McGhee

sold out at 10:00am this morning… only had space for like 5-10 bars on the shelf. really lame of them

    • MisterBill

Did you look elsewhere in the store? The store I went to had a huge big of them at the back of the aisle.

      • Fartface McGhee

i looked misterbill! and the employees were nasty when i asked if there was more in the back. she just pointed to the sign and said “they put this sign up for people like you”??? wtf lol

        • Jersey

They had a hugh display in front of the aisle at my store.

        • IK

          I would be reporting her.

        • America Jones

          Not cool!

        • Christine R.

I would’ve taken her name and gone straight to a manager. How rude!

  • Michele_A_SI

Not making a special trip to Shopite today just for soap, which I don’t really need. Still have a load of soap from the great Dial deal a while back. I will stop in tomorrow, although I doubt there will be any left. I sometimes have better luck with the great deals at the end of the week. Last week my store finally had the Eucerin hand cream on Friday, and I got my 4 tubes with coupons, e-coupon and $5 Catalina.

    • MisterBill

I finally found the Eucerin hand cream on Saturday. It was in a different spot on the shelf than most of the other Eucerin products AND no price tag.

    • amanda

Lucky for you that you still have all that dial soap. My fiancé uses so much bar soap! I believe I bought 12 8 packs and we are down to 2. (The buy 2 get 1 free from a year ago). And I have a life time supply of liquid soap.

  • Lorraine

Shoprite of Middletown, NJ had a whole shelf of CeraVe bars this morning. They were opposite the pharmacy. I thought for sure there wouldn’t be one bar left.

  • Jersey

I received my 4 free bars on Sunday and just looked at my digitals and I have another digital for $2.99 off the bar. Can be redeemed for up to 4 bars in one transaction. This is not the digital that said free that I used Sunday. Does this mean we can get 4 more free?

    • IK

they did change the wording on this last fri/sat..BUT – i also did this yesterday, and I am still seeing the coupon in my account. hmm…

      • Karen

        I still see it too.

        • Jersey

Did we get 2 originally (can’t remember)? Please post if you try for 4 more free and it works

          • Karen

I only received 1 digital but the wording on the digital changed after I clipped it (to add $2.99 max value, I think).

        • IK

and, the exp date is now 11/4 – on both cards – the one i used, and the one i haven’t…

          • Yan

thank you for mentioning this! i shop at 3 different shoprite and they were all out. one doesn’t even appear to stock one. one, i went on sunday at 8:30am and they were already out and i’ve checked 2 more times already. they have since pulled the shelf tag, but the digital coupon memo is still on the shelf 🙁

i figured asking for a raincheck would be pointless since the digital coupon expires this week, but now i’m going to.

          • Karen

I see mine has too. Now if it would only reset itself so I could use it again! Lol

          • Rocky

So, what does everyone think this means? That we can use it, again? Or, just that, if it hasn’t been used, it is still available, now, until 11/4?

            • IK

Logically speaking, why would they update the expiration on a digital that has been exhausted? But, SR’s logic may be elusive to us…
              .

              • Rocky

                Never mind, lol!!!

          • katie

they extended the ecoupon for a week, but they don’t seem to have extended the sale price which makes it free

            • IK

if you did not get a raincheck, i would suggest maybe buying as is, and then contacting the corporate for the difference… nothing to lose…

  • Stubby

Although the digital coupon still appears in your account if you already used it, the savings will not come off if you attempt to use a second time. Found out accidentally. When I purchased these on Friday (with the original wording of 4 FREE BARS) and they only deducted $2.99 each instead of the $6.19 which I was charged, I noticed the new worded digital coupon of save $2.99 on up to 4 bars in my account. I assumed it was still available to use because it was appearing on Sunday (2 days later) So when I bought 4 bars on Sundays, I was charged the $2.99 per bar without any digital savings. Hope this answers your questions.
