This is a great pie for this time of year! You use a traditional crust for the bottom crust and the top crust is more of a crumbly crust. Enjoy!
- 1 baked pie crust (do not prick)
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries
- 6 large cooking apples - peeled, cored and sliced - about 6 cups
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 3 tbsp flour
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp grated lemon rind
- 1/3 cup half & half
- 1/3 cup flour
- 1/3 cup walnuts or pecans - finely chopped
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 3 tbsp melted butter

Pour boiling water over cranberries and let sit for 5 mins and then drain. Mix with apples and place in baked pie shell. Combine granulated sugar, 3 tbsp flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon rind; then stir in half & half. Pour over fruit.

For the topping, combine 1/3 cup flour, nuts, brown sugar and nutmeg. Cut in melted butter with fork or pastry blender. Sprinkle over filling. Cover pie crust edges with foil. Bake at 375° for 45 mins. Remove foil and bake an additional 10 - 15 mins until topping has lightly browned and fruit is tender.
