Scalloped Potatoes with Ham Recipe

This recipe is great for leftover ham.  The ham gives the potatoes a savory flavor.  With a scrumptious side salad or vegetables this dish becomes a full meal.  Leftovers taste great the next day too!  Enjoy!

In the past we have posted other recipes with leftover ham.  If you’d like to take a look, here’s an older post from a few years ago!

Scalloped Potatoes with Ham
Servings: 6 - 8 people
Author: Megan Pizzi
Ingredients
  • 2 1/2 - 3 lbs potatoes, thinly sliced (peeling the potatoes is optional)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups ham, chopped
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 1/2 cups milk or half and half
  • 1 tsp dry mustard
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
  1. Heat butter in small skillet and lightly brown onion.

  2. In ungreased 9x11 baking pan, put a single layer of sliced potatoes. Top with some of the browned onion, then add a layer of ham, then cheese. Continue layering potatoes, onion, ham and cheese until all is gone and you have a layer of cheese on top.

  3. In saucepan, heat milk with spices until hot. Pour over potatoes.

  4. Bake, uncovered, in 400° oven for about 45 mins or until potatoes and most of the milk is absorbed.
