The Power of the Stockpile
Stockpile, noun: a large supply of food gathered and held in reserve for use during a shortage or during a period of higher prices.
Stockpiling, verb: to accumulate for future use; put or store in a stockpile.
Food gathered and held in reserve for use during a period of high prices. This is our WHY! Why we stockpile when items are at lower prices!
Start your stockpile slowly only looking for those items that are cheap or free. Within 4 weeks of starting your stockpile you can start to see approximately $50 knocked off your grocery bill. Within 8 weeks you can get to as much as $100 or even more off your weekly bill. (prices vary by family).

Why Should I Stockpile?
When we are able to get products for free or at a very low price we should purchase multiple if possible!
Sales of products go in cycles. What is on sale at a great price this week may not be on sale again for another 8 – 12 weeks. We need to have a supply on hand that will at least take us through that time period so we do not have to purchase the item(s) at full price before the next sale.
We have an entire page dedicated to Grocery Sale Cycles! We let you know every month what will be on sale so you know what to look out for and stock up on!
How Do I Stockpile?
Stockpiling is as simple as couponing! We have an entire beginners section on LivingRichwithCoupons.com dedicated to showing you exactly how to coupon. I’d start there!
Basically – it’s all about looking for sales + manufactures coupons + store coupons/rebates. Luckily we do this for you! Check out our Match Up Store Page to see the Coupon Match Ups for your stores! We match the sales+coupons+rebates for you every single week! When you start to buy things at their lowest price point (to you) your stockpile will build (you may spend a little more on certain things). The bigger your stockpile gets, the less money you will be spending each week.
In 2018 – Cindy donated her entire Stockpile to start over in the ZerotoStockpile Challenge. She showed you her shopping trips, gave you tips and showed you how she built her stockpile from scratch. This is an awesome place to start!
How do I know if I need this item for my stockpile?
Ask yourself three questions:
- Is this something I need for my family?
- Am I getting a good deal on it? For instance, is it on sale, are there coupons that will help lower the price even more?
- If I already have it in my stockpile, do I need to buy more of it to get my family through about 3 months or the next great sale?
If you answered yes to all three questions, then go for it. Buy it and add it to your growing stockpile.
What Items are In a Stockpile/ What are Stockpile Prices
It’s important to know what food can be frozen, how long food lasts and if you can stock up on dairy products! We have you covered! Organization is also key!
Here are a few items that people generally keep in their stockpile:
- Condiments (BBQ Sauce, steak sauce, mustard, ketcup, mayo)
- Rice & Pasta
- Snacks (crackers, nachos, salsa, popcorn)
- Canned goods (tomatoes, sauce, soups, vegetables)
- Cereals
- Cleaning supplies (cleaners, garbage bags, laundry)
- Drinks (water, soda, iced tea, coffee, tea, juice)
- Dairy (butter, creamers)
- Meats & Fish (keep frozen)
- Breads (keep frozen)
- Health & Beauty Products (band aids, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, soap, etc)
A stockpile price depends on what you have in your stockpile already! My stockpile price will be high on cereal if I only have 1 box – compared to you if you have 4 boxes.
