Reader Allyson headed to ShopRite and Staples. At Staples, she did what I love doing and what, I feel, truly saves me from spending a lot out of pocket. She picked up some items that you can hardly every get for free or near free like the K-cups. Using her Staples Rewards allows her to reduce her out of pocket.
I know some of you may say that you most likely had to spend money to get those Rewards. That is a valid point however, using up your catalinas, ECBs, rewards, etc for items that you can not get a good deal on is a great way to keep your out of pocket down. And, before you know it, you’ll be able to build up your ECBs, rewards, catalinas again for next to nothing.
For instance, last night we were out of dishwasher detergent. With the water in my town, I can only use liquid dishwasher detergent or I get this film on my dishes…Blah! I was considering getting the Cascade at ShopRite for the P&G deal this week but my out of pocket would have been high since I had to buy around 6 bottles to get the catalina. So, I opted to get them at CVS and use my CVS Cash Card. My out of pocket was zero for 2 – 75 oz Cascades. I didn’t get any ECBs or Cash Cards back for my purchase but that’s okay, because before you know it, a money maker will come along and build up my ECBs again. It always does! That’s the fun part of couponing…wondering when your next good money maker will come around 😉
