Saturday 11/2/13:

Open Cockpit Day

Cost:  $7.00 Adults, $5.00 seniors and children under 12
Description: The Aviation Hall of Fame announces its “Open Cockpit Day,” Saturday, November 2nd, 2013. Visitors can sit in the cockpits of a one-of-a-kind 1950 Martin 202 airliner, a rare Lockheed-designed Bush Plane, a Cobra gunship helicopter, An HH-52A Coast Guard helicopter, an OV-1A Mohawk close support aircraft, our “Little-Cut-Up” aircraft control demonstrator, and the control cab of an Airport Rescue and Fire-Fighting truck. People, young and old can learn how the flight systems work. Qualified pilots will help guests understand the instruments and controls of these special aircraft.

Home Depot’s Kids In-Store Monthly Workshop

Cost: FREE
Description: Come build The Home Depot’s spectacular Tabletop Ship! Build. Learn. Create. Have fun! Register for a free kids workshop, the first Saturday of every month at all Home Depot stores. Workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills, tool safety, and instill a sense of pride and accomplishment. Kids get to keep their craft and receive a fre kids workshop apron.

World’s Largest Sand Castle

Cost:  FREE
Description: Sandy Castle 2013 is back and bigger than ever as Ed Jarrett, world renowned sculptor and holder of the record for the World’s Tallest Sandcastle, has broken the Guinness World Record in Point Pleasant. Sandy Castle 2013, Second Edition stands at 41 feet tall, and will stand tall as a reminder that, like the Jersey Shore, it is open for business. Come see it decked out for Halloween this season!

Fall Photo Scavenger Hunt

Cost: $10.00/family
Description: Grab a camera or phone and stop by the Haggerty Education Center for a nature photo scavenger hunt. Visitors can pick up the list, head outside and shoot away. Take a picture of every item, return to the Education Center and pick up your prize. Scavenger lists will change every month. October’s theme is “Ch-, Ch-, Changes” and November is “It’s Coming…” What a great way to explore the arboretum and to get the family outside in the fresh air.
