Bottom Dollar Stores Closing

Very disappointing news for Bottom Dollar shoppers.  Bottom Dollar’s Belgium based parent company, Delhaize Group, has announced that it has signed an agreement to sell all of its locations in the U.S. to the German owned Aldi chain.

Delhaize says that it plans to keep all locations open as Bottom Dollar Food stores until the end of the year. After that time, Bottom Dollar Food will close their 66 stores located throughout the greater Philadelphia area and stop using the Bottom Dollar name.  Bottom Dollar currently employees 2,200 employees. The news release does not say if there are any plans to convert the Bottom Dollar stores into Aldi stores.
