I lve in South Jersey and was wondering which paper can I buy to get the best coupon inserts. I usally buy Press Of Atlantic City and they usally have the Smart Source insert.

Coleen December 3, 2011 at 6:54 pm

John F. I live in North Jersey and subscribe to the Bergen Record. They carry all the inserts. Also, look for the All You Magazine in Walmart. They are usually at the register. For bigger savings, you should subscribe to All You magazine.

Jacqueline December 6, 2011 at 12:06 am

I just checked my walmart for this magazine and its gone…only the Holiday Edition…I think there is an extreme couponer in my area who likes to beat me to EVERYTHING…I have not gotten and razors at my store because by the time I get there…POOF Gone!

wow, that’s terrible! I would go to the store at midnight the day the sale began just so I could get mine, or whenever opening is. Greedy people suck.

The Smart Source inserts in the Philadelphia Inquirer always have better coupons than others. It also has P&G but doesn’t have RedPlum. I think Courier Post has all three but not as good SmartSource as Philadelphia Inquirer. You can get the redplum inserts delivered to your house separately from redplum.com

Jenn December 3, 2011 at 9:25 pm

Thanks, I didn’t know that.

You can only get RP delivered to your home if you can’t buy a paper in your area that has RP. Or, at least that’s how it was the last time I checked their website.

Reply

Shell Holland December 4, 2011 at 10:39 am

I don’t think that’s true because I could buy the courier post but i don’t and I signed up… The only thing I found right now is this http://www.valassis.com/1024/Contact/consumersupport.aspx – I’m not sure if that’s what I used, looks kinda different.

Reply

Jenn December 8, 2011 at 1:12 pm

I signed up on the RP site. I get the Courier but the coupons appear to be ‘picked through’ as most of the insert is just ads. Unless that’s all my area is supposed to get. ?? I’m going to stop delivery and buy the paper in the store – at least I can look at first before I buy it.

Reply

jen December 4, 2011 at 5:43 pm

The red plum in Philly comes on Wednesday with the weekly ads. You don’t need to subscribe it just comes free.

Reply

Emily December 3, 2011 at 7:50 pm

I live in South Jersey, too. I usually buy multiple copies of the Press of Atlantic City and I buy the NY Daily News for the RedPlum insert. It depends though on what coupons are out that week.

Reply

Alice December 3, 2011 at 7:59 pm

I buy both the AC Press & the Courier Post — Post has RedPlum Press usually doesn’t and sometimes there are a few different coupons in the SmartSource

Reply

Diana December 4, 2011 at 6:19 am

I live in the Hammonton area and get the courier delivered to me. If the weekly offerings are good i will pick up an Inquirer that week

I too live in South Jersey.. I get the Courier Post delivery for sunday only.. If you call them they are running a special for $1.00 per week for 6months.. I also go out any buy the Phila Inquire, because all coupons are better in that paper… Hope this helps!!!!!

I’m SJ also, I get the Daily Journal on Sat and the Inq on Sunday. My MIL gets me the Courier inserts for her paper. The Daily Journal also has EXTRA SR coupons in the paper itself that are NOT in the SR circular. Every week I find something in the DJ that I can use their Q for something at SR that pays for the paper! Well worth it, (paper is $1.00 on Sat)

I was able to print the Mueller’s coupon. You sign up on their website and then an email is sent to your email account. (Took about ten minutes.) Then you are prompted to print the coupon. It is one coupon for 55 cents.

Just a note! The Mueller’s pasta coupon is working, but requires a new registration. It comes in the confirmation email and is a PDF printable. It’s also a DND.

Reply

Nicole December 3, 2011 at 7:08 pm

I got one. It dose not say DND on it. How do you know it’s a DND?

Reply

Susan December 3, 2011 at 7:47 pm

I did not notice it at first either, but it does say “No Doubling” in the fine print at the bottom. But, $0.55 off $0.59 pasta is still a pretty good deal!

Reply

Shell Holland December 3, 2011 at 7:49 pm

I wonder if shoprite will accept these… they were complaining about pdfs awhile back

Reply

Lady J December 4, 2011 at 6:52 am

the key to using a pdf is one per transaction. They won’t tell you that you are committing coupon fraud because you are copying coupons if they don’t have the 2nd PDF. It would be nice if they can just say “I’m sorry, we can’t take copies” instead of just assumiong that you are a criminal and needing to point it out to everyone in the store.

Reply

Paloma December 4, 2011 at 6:30 pm

Yeah, I was thinking about this. :( I think I’m going to have my husband stop off at different shop rites during the week on the way home. He passes 3, I believe.

Reply

ruth December 8, 2011 at 9:16 pm

It is very hard to use pdf coupons at Shoprite. Most ShopRites are not coupon friendly and I find it is getting worse and worse. I don’t bother using any internet printed coupons because I can’t deal with the aggravation or being accused of copying coupons, etc.

Reply

KitKat December 3, 2011 at 9:11 pm

It says no doubling, but starts with a 5 so that should give us free pasta! Woohoo!!!
To those of you wondering, I’ve signed up with them in the past, and when I tried logging in it said no coupons available. I signed up again (even used the same email address), and it gave me the pdf coupon via email. YAY!

I went to SR yesterday and used about 75 of these coupons, however when i RETURNED 2day, the managers said that I CAN only use 1 coupon per person a day. However the coupon didn’t say that its says per person per unit/product. Exactly what does that mean? My sister tried to explain it to me as being 1 item 1 coupon not to be transferred to the next person, and not to be scanned multiple number of times. The manager then told me that the items that I scanned using those coupons I will not be able to get them. Also all of the coupons doubled. I was not able to print more than 750 coupons so I distributed them within my coupon.

no, i did about 18 separate transactions the day before, but when i came back yesterday they told me that I was only allowed to use 1 coupon per person. And that they were going to monitor these coupons because it states NO DOUBLING. But the coupon doubled. making them all for FREE

Betty, I don’t know how you coupon but I wound up being in the same position as you. From the inserts, I will clip what I like but I never throw away the unclipped inserts. I save them so when there are good catalina deals, I can go back to them. Many times the catalina deals are for products I don’t use so I will buy them anyway when it’s worth it, then donate the product or give to friends/family. This way you will never come across the sales and not have the coupons so hang on to them.

I was in your same position just last year, if your just starting it out…. that’s how it starts… a year later i’m doing great and you will too! sometimes my inserts don’t have the same q’s sometimes they do. But u can order them online if u really want them :)

Is anyone else in Northern Jersey Bergen County not getting all the coupons in the Sunday Record? I am always missing the SmartSource inserts for the past month and I don’t know why. I just buy it on Sunday and until now have not any any major issues with this way. Thanks. Have a great weekend.

Dipty December 4, 2011 at 7:02 am

Hi Erica,
I also had the same problem with not having smart source inserts in my Record. I just went about to every store and could not find it. I had to dig really hard and only found in a few. So now I always check my newspaper for inserts before buying.

Reply

erika c. December 4, 2011 at 12:06 pm

Thanks Dipty. I have gone to couple different stores after checking before buying but I can’t keep driving around burning up my gas anymore you know. Plus I feel weird when people see me looking through the papers like I am going to steal stuff out of it. (Oh the life of a couponer) I just found this so strange that all of a sudden I can’t find both in papers anymore. Thanks again for answering.

Reply

jamie December 4, 2011 at 6:02 pm

just a thought – call the record when you 1st get the paper and tell them you are missing some Q flyers and that you would like it to be re-delivered. normally they would do it for me and give me a new paper. period. no questions asked.
good luck, i am in NBC too.

Reply

Laura D. December 5, 2011 at 7:01 am

If you are buying the Sunday Record from the store to begin with, yes, the coupons have been missing for a while now. It used to be, in the record, get the same coupons that were home delivered. I heard that because of rising prices, the papers delivered to the stores are no longer carrying the same inserts as home delivery (like coupons are not important….. to them). I get The Record home delivered (one copy), it is cheaper to have the weekend (Thursday – Sunday) home delivered than to buy one Record a week. In the home delivered paper in NBC, all coupons come with it. In the store you are lucky to get one insert now. I do purchase extra papers when the coupons are good, the “Suburban” costs only $0.50 and has the Smartsource in it. The daily news last week had the P&G, and another insert (can’t remember) and costs $1.25 per copy. I too, sit there and go through the papers to make sure all inserts are present. The manager knows me now and I don’t care what other people think. Here’s a thought …. maybe if we all started emailing the Suburban, $0.50 a copy, to request all inserts be carried, they might just do it! Hmmm….. :)

Reply

Kristy December 6, 2011 at 3:25 pm

We don’t get the paper (The Record) delivered because apparently someone steals the inserts. My landlords get it and only get coupons on Saturday, but nothing on Sunday. And their Saturday coupons are not all of the coupons for Sunday.

Is this just how it works? Do they no longer do coupons on delivery for Sunday?

I have to wonder if I’m going about couponing the wrong way? After scanning the matchups for stock-up deals and making a list of what my family needs, I’m still coming in at around $130-150 per week. There are six of us and I try to make healthier foods, but I can’t seem to get the budget any lower. My SR only allows 4 like coupons per item, so the most I’m able to stock up on is 4 items-unless I go more than once a week which isn’t always possible. And stocking up on 4 items won’t last a few days, never mind longer in this house. Any advice on what I’m doing wrong?

Reply

Kristen December 3, 2011 at 9:37 pm

I find I am spending about the same but I now have more in my house to choose from. I used to only keep what I needed to the week in the house…now i have a stockpile..If I cant go shopping one week its not too big of a deal.

Reply

christine December 3, 2011 at 9:42 pm

it can take awhile for awesome offers to come around.
Once they do and you stock up, your money will go a lot further.
Example, Prego sause was super cheap and I have 30 jars in my house.
Don’t need to buy sauce for 3-4 months.
Try cooking around what’s on sale. I might be in the mood for rib eye steak, but unless it’s on sale, we’re eating chicken.
I always shop with my husband on the weekends, to double the 4 offer limit. Then if it’s an awesome sale, I’ll go back later in the week 1-2 more times until I’m out of coupons.
Don’t forget rainchecks, they are an awesome way to extend a sale until you need the item, or have come across a coupon BEST CW

Kabby December 3, 2011 at 11:32 pm

In the beginning of couponing, I found my bill went lower but didn’t really go down until about 6 weeks….yet my stockpile grew. I find my items in my stockpile(that last longer on my shelf) are mostly non food item…bathroom items of all kinds…cleaning supplies ….cereal.,cakes, brownies, juices, I purchase these at LOW prices even if I have some in the house. Here is a tip: do not flaunt the food deals….I find my family looking for them shortly after I shelf them…I do not hide the items I just do not announce those items are in the house. Stick with it…Good luck!

hanna December 4, 2011 at 1:03 am

If you can not make another trip to use more coupons, right after you shopped, go back to the store. I go to Shop Rite once a week and if I wanted to use more than 4 coupons, after first shopping loaded to the car, I go back again. It might take additional time but it won’t take additional gas.

Rocky December 4, 2011 at 2:15 am

Hey, Lisa, I have an extended family of six (and, whenever possible, try to help with a few things here and there for two other family members, offsite), so, can fully relate. But, from reading the great responses you got, feel that all the advice is valid, and, with some time, patience, creative buying, and, creative stockpiling, it will get better.

Couple of things I would add: DO hide some of your stockpiled items (I know, this sounds cruel, or, worse yet, hoarder-like, doesn’t it?). It may sound terrible, but, I learned the hard way! I picked up eight boxes of cookies at $1 each and thought, wow, that’s great, we’ll have snacks for quite awhile (snacks being pretty much a luxury nowadays!) – NOT! 5 boxes were gone in 2 -1/2 days! So, they MAY need to be umm, judiciously put out for the taking in order to stretch the stockpile. And, this way, also, you can intersperse things like a bag of chips one day, couple of days later some cookies, etc. If everything is visible all the time, it’s far too easy to go crazy!

Also, as Hanna mentioned, after one trip, load up the car and go back in, in order to buy more than 4 items. And, to add to this, if there are catalina deals, most of the time, because of my budget, I can’t hold the catalina until the following week. In order to stretch my dollars I do my shopping in, say, two ‘half trips’. I go in the first time getting half the items on my list, including the catalina items. Load up my car, go back in and complete my list, but, this time, I have the added benefit of dollars-off catalinas to lower the bill, a bit, plus, I got items for free (or nearfree) to stockpile. So, that helps stretch the dollars a little.

Also, each shopping trip I vow to buy multiples of 1-2 really good deals even if I have to forego something else. I work around it with my little stockpile, which is slowly growing. If you try to buy everything you normally would, AND get multiples of other items to stockpile, your bill won’t go down as quickly.

At any rate, just my 2 cents from the trenches! HTH- Good luck!

Rocky December 4, 2011 at 2:38 am

Ooops, forgot to mention one other thing – we brand switched on a number of items in order to save money and I can tell you, it’s made a big difference. For example, for years, we only used, say, Cottonelle toilet paper, and, for hot dogs, Nathans. Well, guess what? Now I say thank goodness for Angel Soft toilet paper and Bar S franks (and their coupons and deals)! I got about a gazillion packages (okay, maybe not a…gazillion!) of Bar S franks that we are now used to, and, enjoy, for about $4! Four bucks, the price of one package of Nathans, on sale! Am also thankful for Hatfields, btw. Their ham steaks are great and there are regular sales and coupons. We wouldn’t have discovered them without their deals. Because of the prices, I can keep them stocked in the freezer and make great meals. Leftovers can be chopped and put into omelettes, ham salads, etc. Cindy and her readers help us so very much and I am so thankful for them, but, also, I am thankful for the companies that realize we really do need these savings nowadays. So, just something else to think about!

Lady J December 4, 2011 at 7:06 am

With so many people in your household, you can’t look at the $ amount. You have to look at the % you’re saving. Also, don’t try to be like the people you see on TV. Most people can’t and don’t coupon that way.

My stores also only take 4 like coupons. But that’s per transaction. If you get your hands on more – do another transaction. You don’t have to leave the store to do a 2nd transaction. My SR does make you take your 2nd transaction to a different register though, but that’s fair enough. If you feel funny, bring another family member with you. However, make sure the person you are bringing know that the point is to save money. Often times helpers want to add items to the cart. Feed them before you bring them.

People say they don’t use coupons because they only make you spend more money. Well, they are right. In the beginning of serious couponing – you will spend more money than you usually do at the grocery store. However, you’re buying large (but not TV large) quantities of items you’re going to need and use in the next three months. If you keep at it, eventually you will only need to buy what’s on sale in any given week. And an item or two that you may need. My average trip to the grocery store rarely exceeds $25 – and that’s for a 1/2 full cart. A full cart might run me about $50 – depending on whether or not I have coupons.

Couponing definitely takes patience, multiple newspapers, a printer, and even some money. Like any business, there are start up expenses, but if you keep at it you will recoup.

cami December 4, 2011 at 9:14 am

Think of it as STRATEGIC couponing, not extreme. Probably doesn’t save much time but as I re-read the daily matchups, reader comments and shopper trips, I learn about another deal to take advantage of so I make multiple trips to SR during the week. I go in the morning after I drop the kids at school and before work. (produce choices are fresher and it’s not crowded so it’s much quicker than going in the afternoon) It all adds up.

Reply

mary December 4, 2011 at 12:04 pm

You don’t always need coupons to save money on groceries. It’s just smart savings when you take the time to read your supermarket circular (and read Cindy’s Livingrichwithcoupon site) and stock up sale items. example, I buy a few packages of chicken cutlets when they are on sale this week, then freeze the rest. Better to pay $1.99lb than next week when it’s $3.99lb. Also, I would rather stockup and buy 4 cans of coffee this week @$2.49 than wait till I run out of coffee and have to pay $4.99 for the same can of coffee. You see, buying multiples of toothpaste, toiletpaper, shampoo, papertowels, cereal, etc when on sale saves you money then buying it when you need it and endup paying almost twice as much when it’s not on sale.

I too am a family of Six… It’s alot of work.. I started couponing back in April.. I did an Excel sheet.. First sheet I plug in all coupons that I have, in one column I plug in amount saved for that coupon.. (example say I have 1 coupon for Folgers coffee for .55 cents.. I plug in $1.00 saved in that column for folgers since my SR doubles to a $1.00) so that way at end of month I can see how much I saved.. I do this for every month.. 2nd sheet of Excel is amount saved & spent.. since I’m pretty good with excel the amt saved for that month will reflect on following page.. Next Amount spent.. In colums I use SR,acme,& Walmart. After I go food shopping I plug in total amt spent at the store.. At the end of month it will add all up… I’ve noticed from couponing for a few months now that it’s saving me about $150 a month….
I still spend about $100 to $150 per wk for food.. I go through alot of milk, bread & meat… hope this helps you.. Just keep track of how much your saving and how much your spending… Just cuz you have a coupon, doesn’t mean that you have to use it…Couponing is alot of work, but in the long run if it saves me $20 to $30 per wk than it’s worth it… Good luck!!!

The Glade air freshener – my SR ad says excluding premium, so it seems as if almost all of those coupons for the Glade premium room spray would not work.

Reply

Can anyone tell me if the Glade premium coupon will work with the regular Glade. My SR has the regular for .99 and the premium for 2.49. I cannot find a coupon to make the regular one free. Love those freebies!!!!

It may work but it’s the WRONG coupon. Besides not being for the same product it is for the wrong size.

So I tried to use my Poland Spring $1/1 coupon that I printed online. I used 3 distinct zip codes and printed it from coupons.com; but the cashier said that they are all the same – the bottom lefthand corner barcode between all 3 were all the same, but the top right bar code was all unique…who’s right here? Cindy or someone – please educate me….. I’m so confused. :-(

Reply

lisa December 3, 2011 at 10:47 pm

the unique ID is what the cashier should be looking for, this is how they can tell that you didnt photocopy the coupon. hope that helps!

Reply

Rocky December 4, 2011 at 1:27 am

Bummer that you had this problem, VA. I used my 2 online Poland Springs coupons today at SR (in NJ) and they worked fine. And as Lisa said, the unique ID (top right bar code you referenced) is what they’ve been checking at my store. That’s what I refer to as the coupon identifier (!), but, you will also see it listed on some coupons (without the actual barcode) as the Pin Number.

Now, MY bummer is that I realized I did not get my bonus $0.50 Cellfire coupon taken off today (Saturday is when I shopped). It said it expired on Dec. 3, but, jeez, I thought that meant I had the whole day until, say, 11:59pm! Oh, well, lesson learned!

Thanks Lisa/Rocky – I did my transactions at the shoprite of ledgewood, nj This woman had NO IDEA what she was refering to and ended up having to ‘educate’ the customer service rep with the manager present on how to read online print out coupons. I ended up (and i guess will from now on when i plan to use online prints) showing this print out to prove my point. http://www.measuringflower.com/2011/01/coupon-and-barcode-anatomy/

Karen, if you go to the top of this page and click on coupons, in the drop down you’ll see the coupon database. You can type in any item you’re looking for and if it has a coupon the results will return and tell you exactly where to find it (which insert or website), how much it’s for and when it expires. HTH.

Hope everything goes well. A smile and patience at the register goes a long way. Don’t let them forget to give you your reusable bag credits. And watch to make sure that any coupons that should double do double (SR is pretty good). If you have a whole stack of coupons, I find it also helps to let the person who’s getting in line behind you know. This way, if they really don’t like coupons (or don’t have the time) – they’ll just go to another register.

Good luck. And, come back and let us know how it went.

Dee2 December 4, 2011 at 8:07 am

Good luck! My SR is small, too. Maybe I’ve been lucky, but I’ve never had to miss a deal I wanted because they didn’t have it. If it is in your local flier, I’d bet the ranch that they have it.

Cashiers and people behind me in line at SR often ask me how I get such great deals at SR. I always send them here to LRWC.com. (The other day I saved $42 and spent $8. The guy behind me said, “You should be on TV.” He kept watching in amazement as my total went down.)

I do have a couple of the $0.55/1 Regular online coupons, but, would stock up on those, anyway, with a great price of $0.59, but, would also like to use my whole wheat coupons! Or, perhaps, does anyone know if Pathmark stocks it? I don’t get there as often, but, if they carry it….!

Our inserts come in the mail during the week in south jersey. never have bought the press..more like “de-press”..lol another thing we have noticed is what cashier you choose at shoprite. some are very impatient with couponers..others enjoy the experience and are friendly. we had a bad experience with a manager, so now when we have a double transaction we go thru self checkout..another words if the limit is 4 and we have 8, we will do the 2 transactions thru the self checkout and never have a problem.. we started doing this because the manager wouldnt let us divide our transactions, she insisted we must leave the line and go back in line and re-put our items on the belt. Has she lost her mind ? lol Does she ever have a day off ? lol also our coupons only double to a max of 1.00. so 75 cents doubles to $1.- . ugh…doesnt look like any freeboes here this week.. but the freezer is empty so I have to go. :0(

And, did you remember to add the same number to both columns they give? It’s their checkpoint, like when you have to enter your password twice. You probably did, since you got your other cards in, but, I admit it, I didn’t realize this, at first…I had scrolled far down and wasn’t looking at their column headers…but, the second column validates, so, if the numbers are slightly off from the first column, they won’t match.

Shop Rite of East Windsor NJ is asking shoppers to provide feedback and fill out a survey to evaluate their shopping experience. Those who shop at ShopRite of East Windsor NJ, must know that most of the time we have problems using coupons and problems with attitude from cashiers and supervisors. Please take your time and fill out their survey. Perhaps it will help us make the store better. Thank You.

I wanted to ask about the Pantene deal that Cindy posted the picture about from her SR. In order for the cat to print do you have to scan your PPC last? Is that how it’s done? Because I tried to get the deal last week but went to the self check out and scanned my card first. When the cat didn’t print I went to customer service and she said it’s based on how much I actually spent, not the shelf price. I told her she was wrong and I returned everything, but she wouldn’t give me my coupon back. I took my second coupon to Rite Aide and got a decent deal there instead.

Reply

Melissa December 5, 2011 at 8:24 am

She absolutely should have returned your coupons! That makes me so mad!

Reply

RC December 5, 2011 at 10:14 am

Hi Christine R,
I have had this same issue lately with a particular floor manager who always wants to check my receipt for coupons when i do a return and then reimburse me the price minus coupons. I told her if she could not return the coupons then she would have to atleast give me a store credit for the difference. So after reading this I got on the phone with my store and asked for the manager (their name should be at the bottom of your receipt). They’re less concerned with the technicality of all of this and more concerned with having a happy customer. He said I was right, she should refund the full amount, incl. coupons, unless she was able to return those coupons to me. And I told him I recognized that they don’t want to have people buying things with coupons and then returning them and making profit, but sometimes you’ve bought the wrong item and now you can’t go back and make it work without the coupons you originally had. Last week I bought those toblerone bars and my coupons didn’t double. On top of that, they had a whitish residue at the bottom of several of them with a year til they expire. They’ve obviously been mishandled or exposed to heat by the store, so I had to return them. He said I was completely right. But that if you return items with coupons that double, they’re only getting the single portion, so keep that in mind. If you still have your receipt and your return receipt that shows you didn’t get the coupon value maybe your manager would allow you the credit back.

My daughter loves them. She uses them in smoothies, on pancakes, etc., or, straight from the cup. Me, I think they are best ‘in’ something, but not as good plain, as they come. They do have just a little juice, as mentioned. They are not in syrup. For the sale price, with a good coupon, yes, worth it. I got a bunch of them awhile back when Pathmark had them for $1.50 and I had $0.75 coupons that doubled, so, gee, I guess they were….GREAT [wink]!!!

Just a heads-up for meat-eaters:
SR stores in Northwest NJ are advertising Boneless Center Cut Pork Chops, any size pkg, Pork Loin, Regular or Tender Choice – 1.49 lb with Price Plus.

Also, with additional $10 purchase, limit 4 pkgs: Whole Boneless Pork Loin 10-12 lb avg, regular or tender choice $1.24 lb w/PPC. This is something they had, originally, as a Black Friday item, but, it has continued since then. Good through 12/10/11.

In addition, the Sun. Star Ledger had that funny, partial SR circular attached to the front page and inside it, there is a Super Coupon for Stove Top Pork Stuffing for $0.88.

Rocky December 10, 2011 at 1:52 am

Christine, so sorry I did not see your question earlier – my apologies! This is for this week. It is not advertised in the regular weekly circular. It was in that special short version that they sometimes attach to the front page of the Star Ledger in NJ. In reality, though, they started this sale on Black Friday and it hasn’t stopped, yet, at my store. Well, at least until this Saturday, Dec. 10. They have constantly been in the refrigerated case right near the CS desk. I don’t know if they will decide to continue it beyond Sat. Perhaps they just miscalculated demand at the stores around me and are trying to get rid of the stock.

you can always go to customer service after check out, they will gladly print it for you, if you are in guidelines for the credit, they review your reciept, print it there, you sign off telling them you did recive it… done deal :)

Does anyone know if you can stack Shoprite e-coupons? Or are they considered manufactuers?

Reply

Christine R December 5, 2011 at 8:51 am

They are mfr coupons and can’t be stacked. Usually the only coupons Shop Rite has are in the weekly circular. I have recently seen a few for free dozen eggs in my Courier Post, but that’s about it.

Reply

Kalyn December 5, 2011 at 9:28 am

Thanks!
They are ripping people off who do use that service because on their website it clearly states all e-coupons will not double or triple. Most Shoprites double coupons under a $1.00 up to a $1.00 and a lucky few triple! So, basically, using a coupon that’s NOT digital saves a customer way more money. I won’t be using this service now unless somethings free from using the e-coupons.

Reply

Christine R December 5, 2011 at 9:35 am

I know and that’s why I have the cashier scan my PPC last after I use my printed coupons because I don’t want the e-coupons I’ve selected to be used automatically. I only activate them in case I don’t have a printed coupon for something I need. Uggghhh! This is like a part time job!

Christine December 5, 2011 at 7:11 am

Just checking to see if you can use a manufacturer coupon, cellfire plus the saving star on one item…

Reply

Christine R December 5, 2011 at 8:55 am

Cellfire are mfr coupons so they can’t be stacked with a printable coupon. SavingsStar is not an actual coupon, that’s just like a savings account. You get the discount deposited into an account after you make the purchase and you can cash it out after you reach a minimum of $5. HTH!

Reply

Val December 5, 2011 at 2:40 pm

This is odd. I could have sworn that I’ve been able to stack cellfire ecoupons and printed coupons…

Reply

Rocky December 5, 2011 at 2:55 pm

Mine have stacked, also. Case in point: Progresso soups. Bought 8. Used two $1 off 4 cans paper coupon. They came off, as did my $2 off 8 cans Cellfire coupon. But, will also note that I loaded that cellfire coupon directly from my SR account online. I don’t seem to be having as much luck with ecoupons loaded directly from my new cellfire account…

Reply

Jasper December 5, 2011 at 3:25 pm

cellfire coupons CAN be stacked with manufacturer’s coupons. i think it may say somewhere on the cellfire site that you can’t, but it has always worked for me. some people do seem to have trouble with electronic coupons but i don’t know why. they’ve come off every time i’ve used them, and no conflict with the paper coupons.

Reply

Lesley December 6, 2011 at 9:59 am

The coupons that I load onto my SR card from ShopRite.com comes off when I used a paper coupon. But when I loaded coupons onto my SR card from cellfire.com it did not come off when I used a paper coupon. I tried to use a paper coupon and a cellfire.com coupon for the Betty Crocker buy 1 cake mix and 1 frosting. Apparently cellfire.com coupons are considered a man. coupon, which is what the manager at my SR told me.

Reply

Kristy December 9, 2011 at 10:32 pm

It says on cellfire that it’s not recommended to stack MFR coupons with theirs, but they should work. Mine always do. Also, those with problems using SavingStar, I have contacted them once about my GUM toothbrush purchase (the coupon stated buy 2 and at CVS I bought 2 2-packs). They added the money to my account the next day.

Reply

Rocky December 10, 2011 at 1:59 am

I haven’t had any problems with SavingStar (thank goodness) and just wanted to note that I am liking them more and more! To me, they are rebates that I don’t have to mail in (how much easier could it be?).

And, better yet, thus far (she said with fingers crossed…!), they’ve been applied expeditiously, and, the money goes into my PayPal account within a day. I really appreciate that since I use that account to pay for coupons that I order!

Went to ShopRite yesterday and I got my Muellers but my mother DID’T get hers…The cashier had the manager come over and he told her that she couldn’t use the coupon because it didn’t have a website on it…..She was only using 1 coupon even though the website would have let her print out tons of them and they wouldn’t take it…..The worst part is that they wouldn’t take her coupon but they took my coupon with no problem(we each used 1 coupon from different computers)….I don’t understand how they could take my coupon and not hers

Reply

chris December 5, 2011 at 9:19 pm

The coupon say’s one coupon per person per purchase so they should have taken it. Then again it says not subject to doubling but the barcode starts with 5 so it should double to the purchase price.

Reply

chris December 6, 2011 at 9:18 pm

Phillipsburg shoprite is not accepting the Muellers coupons. They accused my of photocoping it and I gave them a very loud piece of my mind. I e -mailed muellers and requested coupons I advise everyone to do the same

The $.55 coupon is not good on the 5lb. box of clementines at ShopRite. Only good on the 2lb. to 3lb. box. However, there is a $1.00 coupon for 5lb. box.

Tribe Hummus Deal

If I use four $2 tribe coupons to buy 8 Tribe Hummus in one transaction, will shoprite print out two $2 off catalinas? or do I need to splint the coupons up into 2 transactions?

BTW. the muellers coupon doubled and worked fine at my shoprite. when I go back I am going to see if another one will work.

Reply

i’m thinking of heading over tonight, was going to try to use the $20 off, very uncomfortable about not having it printed on my receipt, did save last weeks receipt just in case, would love to know if it’s worked for other people too…

Reply

Melanie December 7, 2011 at 2:59 pm

I went today and the $20 came off no problem. However I had a big problem with the Mastercard I purchased being declined. After speaking with several very nice people in customer service it was determined that the problem was because the total amount of the sale was larger than the amount of the MC gift card. I had to pay the additional balance of $22 FIRST and then the $100 Mastercard went through.

Reply

sylvia December 7, 2011 at 3:11 pm

I bought $100 in gift cards on 12/1 – nothing showed up on the receipt. Today when I made a purchase the $20 credit was not there. Went to customer service – they had no idea what I was talking about. One of them got out a circular from last week – and then they looked up my priceplus information in their computer system. There was nothing in the system to show that I qualified for the $20. They gave me 4 $5 catalinas but when I got home I found out they were for $5 off my next baby purchase. I had to go back to Shoprite and have those replaced (with 6 $3 cats and 1 $2 cat). From this point on – only gift card deals where a catalina prints. To think – before I bought the gift cards I went to customer service to confirm the promotion. Lesson learned.

Reply

Cathy December 7, 2011 at 8:22 pm

It worked for me – my $20 did show up on my receipt. Bought over $30 worth of items, spent $1.79. Cashier thougth he made a mistake and was wondering how I got it so cheap!! But I did save the ad also in case it did not work!!

Reply

Danielle December 6, 2011 at 2:19 pm

going to try this scenario this week (I will be $.02 off, so I hope it works)

Gerber graduates (2/$4)
Gerber grabbers (4/$5)
Johnson’s baby lotion (2/$5.98)
subtotal = $14.98 – 2 $1 Johnson’s coupons = $12.98 – $5 OYN purchase of baby products = $7.98 ($.98 per item)

i think this is a good deal since I dont have any Gerber coupons…advice please.

I tried buying the Mueller’s pasta using my coupon and it did not work out too well. My cashier called a manager over after staring at the coupon for a while. The manager said the coupon was not valid because it was photo copied. I explained all I did was print it but she said I copied it because printers enlarge coupons?!?
Anyways, it was a frustrating and embarrassing situation and needless to say I did not purchase the pasta. Should I try another store?

Reply

Robin W December 7, 2011 at 7:55 pm

I had a similar experience at the Patchogue NY store. I emailed Muellers that they implied I had a fraudulent coupon because of the size and lack of water mark. I even left the header on the paper showing that it was from Muellers web site. The Muellers represenative responded and is going to mail me other coupons and speak to their Web Masters to correct this problem.

Reply

Heather B. December 7, 2011 at 10:01 pm

Oh no, that’s terrible. I used my coupon in Niskayuna NY today without issue. Though at checkout the one coupon that made the manager comment was the $3 Kikkoman Panko coupon (came right from Facebook) and even though I instructed the cashier to adjust the coupon down to $1.99 the manager felt the need to say they are not in the habit of letting the customers make money off of us so you dont get the $3 off. :) I thought that was funny. She wasnt snarky just teaching the cashier but had to laugh since I knew I could have used the coupon at Walmart where this was priced under $2 and “make some money” hehe but it was easier to do one stop shopping.

Reply

Annie December 9, 2011 at 10:20 pm

I think it’s funny since they’re the ones making money off of you using that coupon since you only get 1.99 from it but they’ll turn it in and get a full $3 back from the manufacturer. Just goes to show you how little they really know about coupons.

Reply

Kristy December 9, 2011 at 10:30 pm

They actually don’t get the full $3 on the coupon. It does state that they get retail value up to $3.00. I thought it was face value, but the FE manager at my shoprite looked closer and it does in fact say retail value, not coupon face value. Walmart is just doing us a favor by giving some of their own profits to keep people coming in the door to spend money.

Reply

Laura D. December 7, 2011 at 10:06 pm

Definitely try another store. I had no problem with it at the Shoprite in West Milford and they review coupons. It seems like your store doesn’t have much experience with coupons. Just went to SR last pm. Great shopping, love this store for couponing! Tried to do the Shick disposable deal with a BOGO plus a 2 dollar coupon. Thought I would test the waters with just one set for my first transaction. I was cautious since the BOGO’s bar code has a “14″ in the 11th position on the bar code. My store did not take the second coupon. I still bought one set but it was not the terrific deal it could have been and I had 4 sets of coupons! See Cindy’s note on these BOGOs which can be tricky.

Here’s the article: (May have to paste in your browser-don not know why it is not a live link.)

Meli,
Wouldn’t that be great! I do not know of any that are really that helpful. “ALL YOU” has a grocery circular section but you can only enter Categories, not specific items. It does search grocery stores in your immediate area though. I have not found this as helpful as I would like but maybe I will as I become more familiar with it. Possibly someone else has a site they know of. This would be ideal. I know there is a price comparison iPhone app but I do not know if it covers groceries.

Good luck!

Tribe Hummus Deal

This is what I discovered.

When you buy 8 tribe Hummus and use 4- $2/2 coupons the register will produce 1- $2/4 tribe hummus coupon and 2- $2 off next shopping order.

I went to another shoprite and used the $2/ 4, 2- $2 off catalinas and 2- $2/2 to buy 4 more hummus, and some other items…. The register gave me a $1.50 off two tribe hummus and a $2 off catalina.

I have 12 tribe hummus… I better get snacking!

I tried to do the schick deal with the buy 2 and then use the buy one get one and then a doller of cupon at my shoperite. They would not accept this.
