A Way To Help Diaster Relief In Haiti On A Budget

All day today I was thinking of a way to make a difference with the devastation in Haiti.  Knowing the frugal group that we are, I was trying to find the best way to make a difference without  stretching our already stretched budgets.  Here is my frugal solution:  Swagbucks.

Swagbucks has set up a swagbucks collection where 100% off all swagbucks they collect will go directly toward a donation to three major relief organizations:

If you are not familiar with Swagbucks, it is an internet search engine (similar to Google) where you earn swagbucks while searching the internet. You can collect your Swagbucks and trade them in for prizes such as Paypal money or Amazon.com gift cards. It’s super easy to use and I use it even just to type in Living Rich With Coupons to open my own site.

Swagbucks is taking donations of Swagbucks starting from 1 SB which you can easily get in one search. These Swagbucks convert to cash dollars by approximately: 13 SB = $1. So for every 13 Swagbucks you donate you will be donating $1.00.

So, now that you know a little bit about Swagbucks, this is how we can make a difference:

1. Sign up under this link and start earning your Swagbucks so you can start making donations.

2. Leave a comment below letting me know that you have signed up with Swagbucks and will be donating. If you already use Swagbucks, let me know that as well as how many Swagbucks you donated. For every comment that is left I will donate 10 Swagbucks up to 400 (that’s how many I currently have in my account). Please tell your friends and family to come here and participate.

3. By you signing up through my link, it allows me to earn Swagbucks when you earn Swagbucks. My goal is to continue to donate 50% of all Swagbucks I earn from now (after the initial 400) for as long as they have the donation link up. I will be making a donation deposit once a week.  So, the more that sign up, the more that earn, the more that gets donated all the way around.

I will be keeping a counter on the right sidebar so you can see how much you are helping to donate.

So please take a few minutes, sign up, start searching and let’s start making a difference in the lives that have been devastated in Haiti the best way we can!

Cindy, thank you so much for the great idea. I wanted to help out so badly and was not able to. This is a great solution. I have been doing Swagbucks but not regularly. I checked my account and I had 52 in there so I donated 50 and it felt great. I’m going to keep using now that I know. Thanks again.

What a great idea! I just got started with swagbucks, so I don’t have many to donate, but I gave the 15 I had. Thanks for making us aware of the opportunity.

I think it’s great that there have been so many opportunities to donate to Haiti. I donated some SwagBucks earlier today.

      Hi Cindy,
What a great idea! I wanted to help so bad and this is a great way to do so. I’m more than happy to give up my swag bucks. I have 84, I’ll have 85 by tomorrow and thats how many I’ll donate. Thanks for the great idea.

    • I only have 16 Swagbucks right now but I am donating all of them. With our very limited budget I didn’t know how we could help now, thanks to you, I can do something.

Thanks for letting us know about this. I only had 12 Swagbucks, but I gave them all. I hope that Swagbucks decides to send the majority of the donations to The Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders. I have seen 2 reports in the past day (on ABC News and Fox News) that the Better Business and others are saying that Yele.org may not be the best place to donate to. http://bit.ly/8h3mEj
