Yes – you read that right. Dollar Tree will be raising prices to over $1.00 at some locations in 2021!
They will have stores called Dollar Tree Plus stores where they plan on adding new price points over $1.00 at these stores. They plan on having 500 Dollar Tree Plus stores by the end of the year with prices at $1, $3 and $5. They will increase the number of stores through 2024!
They say they’ve had a lot of success with combo stores which has both over $1.00 and $1.00 items!
Michael Witynski, President and Chief Executive Officer, stated, “For decades, our customers have enjoyed the ‘thrill-of-the-hunt’ for value at one dollar – and we remain committed to that core proposition – but many are telling us that they also want a broader product assortment when they come to shop. We believe testing additional price points above $1 for Dollar Tree product will enable us over time to expand our assortments, introduce new products and meet more of our customers’ everyday needs.”
Their goal is to give customers great value for what they spend at Dollar Tree no matter the price point
